  • Stop motion or action photography is a great way to freeze a moment that shows motion. Whether that is water splashing, stopping a hummingbird's wings, or anything else you can think of, stop action photography will help produce creative and fun images.
In this video I will set up the studio, share tips and tricks for stop action photography, and share some images after shooting them.
    Things You'll Need:
    Strobes
Diffuser (substitute with a white sheet)
    Softbox (Umbrellas work also)
Barn Doors (Be Creative Make Barn Doors Out of Cardboard)
    Water
    Towel To Clean Up
    A Subject (Be Creative)

Hi Marshall! it was fun to see your process! One suggestion to save time on clean up is to have a base shot before any splashes. Then you can simply "paint" in the base shot with photoshop!

Thank you for the comment! That is a great suggestion. Definitely a big time saver to have an image that you could paint in a base. I actually bet you could create an action for that if you had a lot of images.

Really fascinating, thanks Marshall for documenting this entire process! It's not something I'm planning to try myself, but I really appreciate the video and your detailed instruction. Super educational, thank you! Edit: oh and by the way, your results are outstanding!
