POGS! And our version of the mega tazo were Slammers. In the US, you used the Slammer to flip the pogs. It was much easier than using the other pogs. 😂 That brings me back

Oh yeah, I knew I remembered one of the larger pieces being the piece you use to flip the POGS.

Ours was marbles. We had our bag of marbles constantly and had certain areas around the school where we would play. The marbles you won (I don't remember how), you kept.

As a kid going on holiday in Spain I never knew what these were! Now I know. Thanks Pablo!

We had these in the mid-to-late 1980s. I think we called them "POGs", but they were technically banned from schools because they were considered "gambling" (penalty of expulsion). I remember our elementary school teacher making fun of that rule. I never had any, but I saw them on TV.

Either you were really good at playing Tazos or you ate a huge load of crisps

You took me right back to the days of eagerly cracking open a bag of chips, Pablo. Hadn't thought about those damn things in decades.

We had pogs. Instead of using one of the pogs/tazos to turn over the others you had a thicker hard plastic disc called a slammer. Not sure what happened to mine. Probably sold them to someone at school.

The pokemon card fad got so crazy that my elementary school banned them. Older kids were ripping off little kids and taking their cards.

Exactly! It's interesting to learn the origins of a game I used to play and so many other kids in the Philippines.

Hey Pablo We played these tazos in Japan when I was a kid. We called them "Bettan" in Kobe area. My dad who grew up in Tokyo called them "Menko" It's very interesting to find Spain and Japan have more connections than we're aware of. According to Japanese Wikipedia Menko goes way back to Muromachi period. It's quite possible that some traders took Menko/Bettan back to Spain or vice versa before Sakoku Edict of 1635. 😃

When I watch beginner videos, I understand everything and want to go to intermediate

They look an awful allot like Pogs, I remember them and the pog maker that existed in the local toy store. Really wanted it but only got like a small allowance that I spent
cause none of my parents could be effed to teach me about money.

¡Hola Pablo! Do you recommend watching your videos with Spanish subtitles enabled? I watched your "How to" course, but don't think it mentioned. I notice when I do have the subtitles up, I tend to understand more, but sometimes get hung up on words that I don't and end up not paying as much attention to the video while I try to piece together the sentence. What do you think?
Love Dreaming Spanish and all your content here and on Patreon! ¡Gracias!

In general I recommend watching without subtitles for the reason that you mentioned, and because I think most people would benefit from listening for a longer period before they start reading. But I need to look into the research more.

Sorry but I had to laugh! Your forearms look like the Sasquatch!! , with the lighting! Now there is a video you can do. Hairy ARMS!? Still love your videos and keep up the good work. Thanks!! Sticking with the method , I haven't watch as much as I would like to have. Now I have more time and I am watching and acquiring much faster and enjoying your videos more . I make a point of not reading or watching anything with translations and it is working as of late. We shall see.? If it works I am going to come over to Spain and tell you in person in Perfect Spanish !;)
