Two things I do at each event that works for me is 1) I do a setup and send pictures at two different angles to some family or friends and get their opinion. 2) People normally walk by your booth at least twice. Each half hour I move a few items around. I have sold more by doing this. Hope this helps everyone.
I thought about doing that! I'm so glad you mentioned this. I used to work for big box retailer and they do this ALL the time. They never said why... but I was onto them and their strategy. :)
Leaving a 6-8 inches in front of your pay station is so important for people with purses or other shopping bags so they can have a place to put them down on the table while they are digging for their card/cash. Just a tip for people in the comments :)
Thank you for this tip! Just laying out my table plan for my first vendor sale- I never would have thought to leave a space for customers at my checkout area. 😉👍🏼
Excellent video!! Loved your points. I was at a market last night buying loose leaf teas from a lady when my toddler started crying and becoming fussy. The lady selling teas quickly pulled out a sucker for him from behind the booth. Long story short, she got a $10 tip on top of me buying two teas from her because of that small touch. :-)
I have been doing craft shows for a few years now and I agree with most of what you've said. The only thing I disagree with is dropping prices at the end of the show (unless you are a food vendor in which case it makes sense). I sell handmade jewellery and if I don't sell something at one show, I can sell it at another for the price I'm asking. Just my 2 cents. 🙂
Great insight, Karen. And it is an excellent example on how everyone must experiment with their own tactics. The best way to know, is to DO! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this video. It helped me tremendously. I crochet and had a couple of shawls that I put on dress forms. I was so focused on how my table looked, that the forms were an afterthought. I couldn't understand why they weren't selling compared to the other items I create. Well I took your advice and ran. I styled the forms, one with a cute denim blazer and the other a sweater and................BINGO!!! They sold!! I did the same thing at every other fair I had this season and I'm happy to say that all of my shawls sold! Thank you so much for this valuable tip that I will never ever forget! You're an angel! :) xo
I loved this video so much! I'm an esthetician and I have no clue how to do a vendor event, but your information makes me feel like I can do it! I love your energy and I appreciate you sharing your wisdom 💜
good information. i took notes. i am doing a vendor pop up event in June and this will be my first. i sell, design and create canvas tote bags and makeup pouches. so i am gathering up all the advise i can get.
This is one of the best advice videos I've seen on RUclips for a vendor booth. Seriously. Thank you. You helped me in multiple ways with this one video. Thanks again.
You are so awesome. Thank you so much for sharing and being transparent. You are right, there's really not a lot of articles or resources business owners can read and take away relatable information to help them feel confident in wanting to explore vending events as an option. A lot of my experience has been through trial and error, but a great learning experience. I wish you continued success, great health, and blessings!
I have been doing events for the past few years and I can agree with what you are saying, especially putting yourself out there and being friendly to potential customers just walking by. I have gotten quite a few orders and sales by just engaging people.I also have learned a lot talking with other vendors, especially what events are better to attend. I also do not provide candy at my booth, it distracts customers.
Great advice! So many tips that you need to know but are usually found out after you have a flop of a show and wish you had done it different. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the information. I started a both in an antique mall which allows New and antique items. Had it for about 6 moths now. Can use all the expertise I can get. Have a wonderful day!
Great tips, each was on point. I never even thought about the kids distracting from the experience, but it's so true. Not meant for every booth, or products.
Wonderful advice! The Candy dish… so glad you said this- I am having my first vendor booth in 2 weeks- I was totally planning on a Candy dish but now🤔…. Nope, you are right! I have seen kids at these events that make such a nuisance of themselves whenever there is Candy. I appreciate that reminder!
Thank you for these tip! Loved this. I don't really see many African American women explaining these things so I appreciate this. I'm thinking about participating in my first event on my birthday. So it's going to be fun!
Thank you "StyleSewMe" for all these great tips on my Vendor Booth, very helpful. I'm new to the Vendor world and all tips are welcomed. I have noted more tips from your video than any other. I'm excited and nervous but looking forward to life as a Vendor. Again, thank you....... Cheryl
I really appreciate your advice and knowledge. It was good advice being that I recently started my own business. I don't know where to begin and the video was part of what I needed learn. You have great mannerism and you seem very approachable and that's the key to being successful in doing what you love. Thank you.
Although this video is six years old everything you said is still valid. I participated in an event several years ago and the situation was exactly the scenario you described where the people were steered away from the vendors. I put so much money out for the event and was so upset. The only vendors who made money were the seminar instructors and they made sure the people paid before they left the room to tour around. I don't want to experience that again.
You're absolutely right. I recently went to a pop up shop and the owner was just on her phone scrolling. Looking as though she wasn't interested in making a sale. So I strolled right past her table.
Winner of a video, I've been looking for "crafts fair near me" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Honsaac Qonandon Cure - (should be on google have a look )? It is a smashing one of a kind product for getting Fairs And Festival listings minus the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.
I just started my own business this year and I have an event that I want to be apart of as a vendor but I’m so lost on how to start. This video has been so helpful! 💛
You had a lot of great information in this vlog. Love the visit the craft show as a participant first ( and don't give out cards as a participant😉). - Sonya (Suíteplāt)
Fantastic tips. I'm attending the Ultimate Women's Expo in Atlanta on Nov 13 and Nov 14 2021. I hope it will be a huge success. Thank you for your tips!
Lol...I’ve been taking notes on different videos and one video said “bring candy dish”...after watching this video, I went back to my notes and said “NO Candy Dish” 😂
Thank you so much for sharing this:) puzzled about having vendors and scheduling venues that don't make time for the people to shop Really smh. I really learned a lot from you
Great tips!! I have heard the sample set up tip however, that's a great idea to snap a picture! Haven't heard that one before. Thanks so much for sharing!
Great insight here. I just had my 1st craft fair 2 weeks ago and am going for round 2 tomorrow. It's supposed to be scattered rain showers. Figures. lol. It is funny that you bring up someone passing their biz cards when they didn't have a booth. I actually had that happen to me at my 1st craft fair. I wasn't upset by it, but I did wonder why she was trying to get me interested in her cake baking biz when I was telling her about my handmade jewelry 5 minutes before. lol. Have a sparkle-tastic day!
I love this video. There is hardly anything on strategy and marketing vender booths anywhere. I have quite a few things to add to your topic. Id love to have a discussion with you about your experiences with vending. Thank you for what your doing!
Hello, I just want to say thank you so much for sharing. I am starting up a business and my first steps into marketing will be vending. You gave me so much great advice about things I wouldn't have done and I thank you for that.
Really good information! A dry run/setup is a good idea I did not consider. Planning to attend my first job fair or career fair in near by cities & states soon. Thanks Again
Oh wow this was very helpful. I have actually done exactly what you said the other girl did and gave gift bags to the guest n all not even thinking these other people paid and put all this time and effort into setting up a table. We didn’t even know vendors would be there or even thought about being one.🤦🏽♀️ Wow well if that was me I’m so sorry🙏🏽😬 Good lessons great tips🥰🙌🏽
Hi! I was just cruising around the internet... and found your great video, then I realized I had seen it before and Liked it!!! This time I have Saved you into my private Craft file!!! I learned new things from your video again!! Happy 2021!!
I really enjoyed your video! You really seem like someone who really wants to help others. I agree with not liking the lady handing out cards when she is not contributing to the event.
Yes! better to have too much than to miss out on sales because you didn't have enough! And having a well stocked booth makes the shopping experience so much better.
I just saw this video and it was very informative. I'm thinking it's time for me to do this, all of your suggestions already make me feel easier about this.
Thanks for the advice! I actually put a fair crashes in her place. I applied and didn't get in but still went in support of local crafters. This woman can up to me handed me a pamphlet about her business. I asked if she was in the event. When she said no... I handed her paper back and kindly explained people applied, and paid to be here. As a vendor who didn't get in I thought it was rude and unfair for her to steal from others business. The director who created the even happened to be the table I was at at the time. She was blown away and appreciative. Crashed left the fair and I am pretty sure I will get into the next one.😊
Actually that was rude and wrong of you in my opinion. A lot of craft show organizers are paid cash by vendors to get in. It can be cutthroat. This person wasn't doing anything wrong by handing out info at a craft show...obviously people thst are there enjoy crafts. It's fine to support the actual vendors but some of them might not even deserve to be there, they just gave the organizer money. What you did was rude.
I’m gearing up to do my first for vendor events. I hesitated to sign up for one of the largest ones this year because it would’ve been my first time. I figured it wouldn’t be the best first experience. And I have social anxiety. But I really believe in my product, and everyone who’s tried it even family members who are brutally honest, love it!. I make artisan soap. Anyway I went to this huge fair and walked around and realized there is a huge niche for my product. I saw him melt and pour soap, but my soap is 1 million times better than that. And It just really gave me the confidence to step up and sign up for these events. I’m bringing samples of my product, which I know is a lot harder to do with clothes, but when I cut my soap I always have small sliver’s or a little extra better I pour into simple molds. I plan on giving a free one out with every purchase.
Thank you soooo very much for sharing your knowledge. You have enlightened me in so many ways I hadn't thought of in becoming a vendor . You are absolutely going to be blessed for graciously and selflessly sharing that wonderful information. God bless you!!!
Thank you so very much for sharing your experience and advice with others. This is refreshing for new vendors who have no idea what to expect. You wouldn’t have found people like this years ago. May God Bless your endeavor for your selfless heart and May you prosper and grow.
Thank you! So many great tips. Had to laugh at the person dropping cards. My business coach taught this "never be a vendor", he said. I went against his advise this past weekend and grabbed 10 new clients as a vendor and had wonderful comrodery with fellow vendors. Have another event in 2 weeks and will be using some of your tips 💜💜
I like your sewing videos, but this one has helped me. I have been going to craft fairs for several years, but this has a lot of great advice. I subscribed :) Thanks.
Thank you so much for this. I wanted to do expos for my virtual tour business this year and I felt somewhat confident because I've been to fitness expos (Arnold Classic) before, but you're 100% right that I should check out the events as a participant before I jump into being a vendor. There's still work to do on building the actual business and brand so I'll focus on that and do expo research this year.
Thank you so much for all the great information! I’m getting ready to do my first vendor event selling my own handmade jewelry and I’m pretty nervous . This has helped me a lot !

The part around the 14:10 mark about not having candy made total sense and I was so glad to get that advice.
I don't know why anyone would dislike this- great video
It's all good. I promise I don't even look at dislikes! I focus on people like you who find it helpful! Thank you, Maddie!

Suzy P how did it go?!
Me too!!! Hope your event went well Donna! I’m 4 years later but gearing to go!
The candy advice is GOLD. I appreciate your wisdom! I was about to be the candy queen and now I know why that isn't s good idea.

Excellent idea, Marilyn! Thank you for sharing!
I'm actually preparing to give a gift to the 1st 10 customers.
