The details...
1.Be prepared
Have your inventory ready
Have extra supplies (Scissors, pens, tape, notebook, etc)
Give yourself enough time and have tasks done in advance
Have an inventory list and price items ahead of time

2. Promote yourself and the event
Invite friends and family to the Facebook events
Promote sale on your social media platforms

Pricing formula I use: Materials X 3 + hourly wage = retail price
Check average market price
Tag your work
Use tags and signs to promote sales or special offers
Take credit card (squareup.com/c...)

Have a clear consice design
Have a display that enhances your work not distracts
Get creative
Traditional vs un traditional methods of display. Just do you!
Include freebies
Have business cards
5. Be welcoming
Say Hi to everyone
Give genuine compliments
Offer information about an object they're looking at
Don't over do it! Don't be desperate
Be yourself
6. Packaging
Essential for protection
Make it easy for a customer to continue to shop
Get creative with packaging
Use packaging for a promotional tool (custom stamp, discount code, business card)

Thank you. Those were great tips, especially about making friends with your neighbors
Thanks for a very useful refresher course for an old hand heading into her first jewellery show, in a long time. You are an excellent teacher.
Been doing craft shows for years but always learn something new at each. And learned some from you too. Thanks for sharing. Thank you for getting to the point of your video also. It was a joy to watch from beginning to the end.
Thank you very much! Wow! Eight years of experience is great!
GREAT ADVICE!!! Took me a couple fairs to learn all the tricks of the trade. Learning more every day!!! Thank you!
Great information for someone just starting out. How very generous to share your ideas and experience. Thank you.
This was very helpful. Would like to see more. Most helpful tip for me was the formula for determining your price and the details for being prepared. Thank you.
+Susan Wright Im so glad you found this helpful! Hopefully I can post another video soon :) Maybe i'll make one specifically about pricing. Thanks for watching!
Great tips... Very well organized and presented!!! TFS! The only things I'd add are doing a dry run setting up your table a couple days before the event and taking photos of your set up then and also at the event. Craft fair organizers sometimes ask for pics of your set up at previous fairs when deciding if you should be allocated a booth or not, and these pics will come in handy then! :)
thats such a great idea! Thank you!
They really help if you have a helpful friend helping.
Man, that cat was huge!
This is quite possibly the best video I've seen all year. I'm getting ready for my first craft fair and I really don't know what I'm doing yet. This was the most invaluable research! Thank you.
like the random cattage ....good tips.
Thank you for sharing. This is wonderfully helpful and you even summarized it! I see the video is a few years old. I trust you are very successful.
Excellent and very well organized information. I agree about having your worked priced and the day before because trying to get set up and doing all that needs to get done, including tags ---well there is never enough time and then the customers come and they always like to ask the price of the item that is not tagged, even when the piece next to it is the same and is priced. Also customers can come an hour or more earlier than the show officially opens and being ready for this is to our advantage. You would be a good neighbor at the show. Thank you for your tips, tricks and hints..........
You are precious, thanks for the tips 😊
Love the advice and the way you present it. I’ve watched your video many times getting ready for my first show in November 2019. I was hoping you’d do a tutorial on having a presence online.
Great ideas and I love, love your cat! :)

I like what you have to say . I'm an ambitious crafter and want to step into selling my crafts. My husband has been beading. Which is good medicine for him and really good at it. We had good luck at the Yakama Cultural center.
That's amazing. I should be up and running in about a year's time. I have work to do.
Thankyou for posting this. Best tips for craft fairs I've found.
Thank you so much! What a compliment :) Glad it was helpful for you!

I found this so very helpful, I'm doing my first ever church table top sale this coming Saturday, wish me luck. Xx
Hi, Please make more of these craft fair videos, they are so helpful and top out most of the other videos here that are on the same subject. You're insight is valuable. Thank you.
Thank you so so much! I really appreciate your comment :) I've been doing craft fairs for a long time so its fun to share some different ideas. I gotta come up with some new content. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to know about specifically :)
I will, and thank you again. You made some really intelligent and helpful points.
Oh, sorry one more thing. I know that you are a jewelry artist. Have you ever brought any supplies, tools, and other equipment that you use to create your work to craft fairs to use as educational materials for your buyers? I am a bookbinder and I was thinking of bringing a couple of works in progress along with some small hand tools and equipment, just in case there were any people interested in how I crafted the books. I thought it would generate conversations with people. I might also demonstrate my skill, thus people might understand all of the hard work that goes into creating one of a kind pieces. What do you think of this idea?
I do bring supplies! I find it helpful to have that stuff there so I can customize work for people. I will also work on stuff when I'm just hanging out and it absolutely does start some interesting conversations. Its a great way to educate people on what goes into your work! I'd say go for it!
Thank you! I hope I can make more soon!
Thanks so much. Great ideas! I saved it so I can watch again. I will check out your work.
Thanks so much :)
Thanks so much for sharing so much helpful information. It was greatly appreciated.
This was awesome and super informative. Thanks dude!
I haven't done any fairs (the thought terrifies me!) but this was all really helpful and thorough. Thank you so much!
You're so welcome! You can do it! You should make it a goal to do atleast one holiday craft sale this year :)
Wow I have my first craft fair in two days and I was hoping to find EXACTLY this video tonight. Your tips make me feel super prepared and confident and also prevented me from making a really big mistake (I don't have my "float" and the bank will be closed on Saturday!) so thank you so much. Plus you're so cute haha! (Hey you did say to give compliments lol!)
Haha thank you!! Best of luck with your sale! I hope it goes great! seriously the float is the biggest thing I feel like everyone forgets!
This is awesome, thanks. And I love how your selling approach is so authentic, that you and your work are enough and to be authentic. Anyway, thanks.
I loved this video! I'm preparing for my very first craft show, and you've given me awesome tips that I will definitely be using!
Thank you 🌺😊

+Jocelyn McQuay Thanks Joce
Perfect!!!! Thank you!
thank you. is good to know.. thank you for sharing your ideas.. for beginners like myself. thank you, thank you, thank you
Thanks for posting this video, it is a really good list of things to consider when doing any kind of fair, actually.
The preparations list is great, I usually think I need way less time than I really do... so I learned the hard way that preparations make the difference between a relaxed or a nerve-wracking fair.
Your comments on social skills are right on target as well.
And it is what a lot of people forget when they are selling. You want to buy from a nice person. Since their energy is in the product you might want to buy.
And it really isn't necessary to do much. Looking at the customer smiling and saying 'hi' can make the difference. Or: I really liked making that item (which is true, because I wouldn't have made it otherwise).
Anyway, your list is great and I am going to copy it for future reference, so I don't have to think about whether I forgot anything.
And you gave me a few new pointers to think about. As to how to adopt them :-D
Thank you so much !
Karma must smile at you for this ;-)
Thanks great tips
Thank you! Great!
OMGosh, 16:37 . . . scared the crap out of me!!! LMAO
My Goodness, your awesome!!!!!
Great video...I say "Howdy"
Omg thank you so much I would like you to make a video of how to work on social media that’ll be great
A very informative video, thank you very much.
Great video
Thank you so much for the advice. I will be starting to sell at craft shows shortly and I really appreciate the advice. If you have any more tips it would be appreciated.
Tfs! Great tips!
excellent excellent EXCELLENT video thanks so much for sharing you are so gracious
Thank you! You're so sweet :)
Awesome advice! thank you!!
Kitty cat was awesome and entertaining
He's such a ham!
Been feeling inspired to maybe make another video. What kind of topics/questions would you guys want me to talk about :)
Thank you so much!! Doing my first fair on Saturday and I'm going around the house grabbing things I'd forgotten and putting them with my rolling suitcase (great idea!!). And OMG, the awkward standing there looking at item with vendor not acknowledging is the WORST. I've been in the customer's shoes with that and those vendors didn't get my $$.
You're very welcome! Good luck with your fair! Im also selling on Saturday :)
your so beautiful and nice bless you and your art :p
Thank you I’m thinking of ho one o display my artwork. Thank you
Thank you so much everyone for the lovely comments! I haven't been very active on here lately but seeing your comments are so sweet and encouraging!
Hi Marley! No videos, why? I hope you're OK this time :)
totally random, but you should use more your higher vocal register, it's beeautiful
A roll of lunies?? 🤔
Now that I have a Smartphone, I can take credit cards. But I still have the float. I sell Paper crafts, primarily handmade greeting cards and even though I have displays racks, I still have a problem with which to display where ( birthday, thank you, thinking of you,etc.). So, I display 3/4 of each and rotate them after a couple of hours. Do you have any other suggestions on how to do this more efficiently?
I think display is probably my weakest point honestly... You could allocate specific display racks to certain cards and some how label the racks with what each section holds... if that makes any sense :P
Head ache tablets too. Nothing worst then trying to be on your A game with a thumping head.
Dang, R U STILL ALIVE? I COULD USE SOME ADVICE FOR FAIRS/ETSY IN 2019.
Imhotep397 I’m still alive!! What would you like me to talk about? I’ve definitely been thinking about making a new video but I pretty much still just follow all the rules I’ve talked about in this video 😝
kitty!!!!
12:19 EHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR ARM?!?
Its a birthmark.
What are loonies?
Its a canadian coin
Great video.. Thank You. Consider me a subscriber
You are so pretty and you don’t need to pierce a beautiful face. Very distracting. I don’t hire or buy from anyone with a nose ring or tattoo. Not professional.
The way that I choose to adorn by body has absolutely no impact on my talent, ability to run a business or level of professionalism. I am tattooed, pierced and successful. I would encourage buyers to support companies based on that companies values and quality of the products, not the physical attributes of the business owner. For example, I would be hesitant to support a business run by someone who is rude, close-minded or judgemental. I know many, many other successful small businesses where self expression is not only encouraged but celebrated. Telling people to not hire or buy from a person with body modifications is just offensive and straight up ignorant. If you don't like piercings or tattoos than feel free not to get any yourself.
