Hi. Thank you for sharing. The series wasn’t written for Hallmark. It was written for Netflix. But the new executive who moved to Hallmark brought the project with her.

Finn would travel back and forth more than once and without a Landry. In season 1, the family is eating outside, little Jacob puts the baseball on the table and says “hey I saw that dog again” and you hear Kat say “We get it…you want a dog!”

Why is there no mention of ‘a’ Jacob Landry in the Almanac? There were 2, Jacob the adult, the time traveler from 1999 and Jacob Landry, the child, Elijah’s grandson?

I asked a question during the last Live Chat:
“Why did Rebecca Landry appear elderly and have gray hair in S2, Ep.1, yet appear younger with raven hair in S2, Ep.9, when she stood at the pond with young Jacob (8) in 1790, when she first found him?”
Thank you, Roxanne, for your reply regarding your possible theory.
Many of my questions remain, so, I thought I'd expand on my observations in this space.
    JACOB’S TWO WORLDS
Season 2, Episode 1 - THE SPACE BETWEEN
We see a young boy (whom I’m assuming is Jacob, or could it be a young Colton when he was a boy? After all, Colton was always telling his children to stay away from the pond, a.k.a., the “Sinkhole”, why? What did he know about it?) running through the woods barefooted, and then stood by the pond holding the hand of an elderly gray-haired woman in white. The camera pans down to Jacob’s rolled-up tan-colored pant leg that clearly exposed the inside seams from a modern sewing machine that used an overlock stitching, most likely mass-produced and manufactured in China, during the Twentieth Century (1999 or earlier), as well as the white, untucked, button-down dress shirt he was wearing.
The elderly gray-haired woman said: “Come, I know it (the pond) calls out to you. Remember what I said: (implying that they had previously met) “It will always take you where you need to go, but you need to stay here FOR NOW.” Could Jacob have met the “White Witch” weeks, or even months BEFORE he fell into the pond while chasing after Finn, being that on the night of the Annual Port Haven Fall Carnival, Jacob was wearing his red sneakers, tan trousers, light blue wide striped tee-shirt, and bright blue hoodie (Rebecca would bury)? Was the timing not right for young Jacob to go into the pond before October 29, 1999, because Elijah and Rebecca Landry had not yet, lost their child in their time?
    Season 2, Episode 2 - HANGING BY A THREAD
In Kat’s second visit to the other side of the pond in 1814, she hears a young boy’s laughter, follows him, and then sees him running through the woods, so she calls out to him: “Jacob! Jacob! Jacob!”
Season 2, Episode 3 - WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG
When the young boy running through the woods stops and turns around, Kat sees that he is not her brother, Jacob, but rather a different child. She tells him, “I’m sorry, I thought you were someone else.” Katherine meets Elijah Landry, who later explains that the child is his grandson (born around 1797), his son William’s boy who was named after his other son, “Jacob” (32 years old in 1814), [Kat’s brother].
TWO REBECCAS? OR THE “WHITE WITCH”?
Season 2, Episode 9 - HERE WITHOUT YOU
Elijah Landry explains to Katherine the extreme grief he and his wife felt after the loss of their child; a son, especially his wife, Rebecca. The flashback scene shows a much younger raven-haired Rebecca hunched over near the pond, wearing a white knitted shawl over her white or light-colored dress (very similar to the elderly woman’s white shawl), and sobbing. As Elijah’s story continues, he tells of Rebecca’s story on her deathbed of how she found eight-year-old (1999) Jacob Landry.
Since the eight-year-old (1999) Jacob Landry met TWO women, one elderly and gray-haired, another younger and raven-haired woman, relatively around the same time, I cannot help but wonder if the elderly gray-haired woman holding the hand of eight-year-old 1999, Jacob is the actual, legendary “White Witch”, not Katherine, whose long-haired raven colored wig and white gown (we know), was a deliberate setup by Katherine and Susanna, who intentionally wanted Cyrus Goodwin and his men to believe that he had indeed confronted a “White Witch”, and gave orders to chase her down.
Of course, Katherine knew this local folklore in her time, especially since she would lead tours of the Lighthouse as a teen during her summer breaks from school, and tell of the legendary fables. Katherine may think that in 1814, Cyrus Goodwin and his men believed that she was the White Witch and that it was her who began the tales because she has yet to find out more from Jacob in the 1800s about his experiences when certain memories begin to return and, the more he spends time with his sister, Kat (in Season 3).
    In Season 1, Episode 5 - DON’T DREAM IT’S OVER
When Kat returned to 1999 for the second time, she saw Jacob and Danny playing in the woods. They heard her movement, and shouted, “It’s the White Witch! Run, hurry!” The next day, Brady joins Kat’s family for dinner for the first time. Teen Kat asks Alice if she would please, join them as well, for moral support. While sitting at the dinner table, Jacob says, “Alice, guess who was lurking in the woods yesterday (who we know was adult Kat)? The White Witch! She almost got Danny and me with her spells.” Brady responds by teasing Jacob about his story of the White Witch. With a serious stare and tone, Jacob firmly tells Brady, “I know what I SAW!” Then Alice turns toward Jacob and says, “I believe you”, which puts a big smile on his face. What if adult Kat thinks Jacob and Danny were convinced it was the White Witch when it was actually her hiding from them in the woods that day, but little to her knowledge at the time, the White Witch was there, and that is who the boys “saw”?
    TALK OF THE STARS
Season 1, Episode 1 - MOTHERS and DAUGHTERS
In 1999, while Teen Kat and eight-year-old Jacob lie on his bed while looking up at the fluorescent star stickers on his bedroom ceiling, he asks Kat, “Do you know explorers used the stars to lead them home when they got lost?” However, in S2, E9, in 1814, adult Jacob asks Elijah, “Do you remember our talk of the stars, the explorers? They will lead you home when you get lost?” Elijah replies, “Of course I do.” This implies that Elijah first taught Jacob this when he was a young boy in the 1700’s.
Could it be that eight-year-old Jacob, who asked Teen Kat this question in 1999, could have time traveled TO the 1990s from the 1700s at some point (since we later learned that Elijah taught Jacob this in 1790), and considering that Elliot, Kat, and Alice do not remember everything about their past time travel experiences until they happen; or in Elliot’s case, the knowledge of Kat and Alice’s experiences, such as Alice’s visit to Landry farm in 2023 (the same year, and just weeks before Kat and Alice moved in with Del) to pull Del’s letter she had written to Katherine, out from the kitchen rubbish bin? Alice could be gone for a day, three months, or six years between visits to the other side of the pond. The pond determines the amount of time, between visits, and who is directed to which year or century.
Colton would ask young Jacob while working on a project together, “How do you know how to do this? Have you done this before?” Could it be that the stranger who was watching and listening in on Colton and Elliot’s conversation at Landry farm on the night of the family’s fireworks, and the ‘Summer Kick-off’ gathering later on that same night at the Cove, be adult Jacob, who time traveled after all, from the 1800’s (after reuniting with Kat in 1814) TO 1999?
Season 2, Episode 9 - HERE WITHOUT YOU
Upon returning to Elijah’s home after leaving in anger earlier, Jacob writes on what remains of the torn page from the 1814 Almanac, “The explorer found a home but he still looks to the stars when he feels lost.” Elijah asked Jacob what he was doing? Jacob replies, “I write this letter to my mom (Del) to let her know that I am here and I love her.” Later, when Kat encourages Jacob to return with her but, Jacob declines and shares his fears. Kat asks him, “What should I tell Mom?” Jacob replies, “She will understand. I will make sure of it.”
Thomas Coyle and Katherine are sitting by the pond. Thomas speaking of Jacob, says to Katherine, “I told him the distance, whether it’s from stars, or from people, is not the thing to be worrying about. Worry when you can’t find them at all.”
We see a flashback scene in 1999 when referring to Jacob’s morning notes and drawings that he passes under his parent’s bedroom door, Del asks, “Honey, why do you call it Mama-Mail?” Jacob replies, “Cuz I’m sending you a message to let you know I’m here and I love you.”
While sitting by the pond, adult Jacob tells Kat, “Perhaps this was inevitable. This place, I remember it calling to me. I wasn’t allowed, but I came anyway. I couldn’t stop myself. I was playing a role based off of a story my parents told me about who I was and where I came from. I believed it because I loved them. I do love them.”
Remember, what the elderly gray-haired woman wearing the white knitted shawl, said to eight-year-old Jacob, “Come, I know it (the pond) calls out to you. Remember what I said: “It will always take you where you need to go, but you need to stay here FOR NOW.”
This indicates that a future time for Jacob to re-enter the pond and time travel back to the future was still for him. Circumstances change, fears calm, emotions level as they have time to settle down, memories return, and the blood-bond of loved ones lives forever. For adult Jacob, perhaps he eventually realized that since the opportunity still exists, he may have changed his mind about visiting the future on the other side of the pond.
I’m sure that all of my observations, speculations, and questions up to this point will end up being completely off after tomorrow’s Season 2 finale. Nevertheless, I love mysteries, especially with so many unexpected twists and turns that THE WAY HOME offers. This show is brilliant! I cannot wait until Season 3.

You have some things incorrect. The woman in the beginning is not Rebecca. And the child is not Jacob. It’s not Jacob, the nephew, nor is it a young version of Jacob Landry. They didn’t show his face or say his name until the very end of the finale. It was. Colton.
