- The revelations of #DragonBallSuper and its latest manga chapters have given Namekians a whole new lease of life making them much more interesting than Saiyans these days. #DragonBall and #DragonBallZ have been all about the Super Saiyan and Goku's people...might we see more about Piccolo, Dende and the rest of the peoples of Namek after seeing much more of them in the manga and now having more of their lore being explored than ever before? Let's discuss!

Namekian abilities: Strong spiritual energy, long lifespan, enhanced hearing, stretchy arms, giant form, healing abilities, permanent fusion, clothes beam, and creating Dragon Balls.
Saiyans abilities: Super strong, big monkey form, and varying hair colors for more strength.
Yeah, as much as I love some of the Saiyan characters in this show, I've always thought that Namekians were much more interesting.
wait one thing with that ssj 3 and 4 aren’t just hair color changes and even if you say just cannon then that’s still ssj 3 it’s actually more then a color change and should’ve been explored more before they made god get just pushed into the story without a hint it’s existence but i do like your opinion.😁👍

I know no one wants to hear it, but I always thought how they played with gender was interesting. Yes, they're an all male race, but the Namekians are hardly the most masculine characters in the show. They avert many tropes associated with all male societies.

Clothes beam has the potential to be an op special move. Some bad dude is flying at mach-90 and suddenly "CLOTHES BEAM!" and he has a t-shirt in his face. SPLAT! Right into a random wasteland mountain.

Piccolo Is actually one of the best candidates for UI.
Think about it. The guy spends most of his time meditating and he has 2 other minds in his head. I don't think it would be so hard for him to completely clear his mind and make his body do everything.
Also, namekians were shown to be able to easily learn techniques just by seeing them, much like Sayians, which is nice too.
And there is also one thing, that can potentially make Piccolo OP. Remember how Namekians breed? Yep, very fast and easy. Aging shouldn't be a problem for Piccolo, since he probably got an immortality from his father, or he can just wish for it. After this he can create a squad or even an army of decently powerful fighters, that can protect the earth when the Sayians aren't there, much like Z warriors did in the Moro Saga. And they only need water to survive!
He can also fuse with them to become exponentially stronger, but this is more of Ethics problem, then power scaling. Including normal fusion and the Namekian one.
Buu being an incredible untapped potential? Get a load of THIS.
I think the two other minds in piccolo's head would be a hinderance in acheiving UI. Wouldn't Nail and Kami also have to clear...themselves? Like they have to get UI too?
@@levonmartyr1443 In the lore of the actual show, there’s little evidence that either Nail or Kami still have any presence in Piccolo’s mind. Likely years of post-fusion meditation has already ironed out any psychological/spiritual differences between the three, especially since Piccolo has always been the “dominant” personality in these fusions.

@@Bonzothefifth I feel like even that could be up for debate. Not the part about spiritual differences, but the bit about Piccolo being dominant. If anything he made it seem like he was straight a different person after the Kami fusion, but they could just call him Piccolo for ease of familiarity.
@@LupineShadowOmega True, but that could be chalked up to post-fusion disorientation. His personality barely changes after that even so, and the only time any real reference to this is made after the Android 17 fight is in the ToP where you briefly see Nail and Kami’s silhouettes during the U6 Namekian brawl.
Not to say you’re not right, just saying it’s up for debate.

It’s weird that Toriyama made Vegeta the permanent sidekick of Goku after the Cell saga. Simply because Vegeta looks similar and has the same types of transformations. It would have made more sense aesthetically to have Piccolo be the permanent 2nd strongest sidekick because he’s a big green guy with his own unique abilities to distinguish himself from Goku and the other saiyan characters. Even Tien makes for a better foil to Goku than Vegeta does.

Honestly, Piccolo needs to get upped to the higher tiers, if only because the show/manga really worked best when Piccolo, Goku, and Vegeta were in the higher brackets. Once Piccolo fell out of competition in that bracket, I think the show really lost something, and didn't quite know what to do with itself as much, as well as with Piccolo himself.
Masako said, that japanese slug thing evolved into a dragon after its 3000 years... what if, Namekians that live long enough turn into the wish dragons. So what if Zalama evolved into super Shenron and that would make sense the super dragonballs are still around even tho Zalama is nowhere to be seen.
Food for thought
My theory on that is that Zalama would be the end result if *every* Namekian fused. That the race itself is simply the Dragon God split into hundreds of parts across different universes. But that’s not based on anything other than my imagination, so take that as you will.

Well, Piccolo has managed to stay a lot more relevant than many other characters.

But seriously, though, I’m more impressed with the races who’ve had to gain their power the old fashioned way rather than just pulling new transformations out of nowhere as the plot demands. It really does feel like a massive cheat that Saiyans appear to have the capacity to leapfrog every power gap with just another form of Super Saiyan every time when few other races have shown an ability to transform at all.
While he’s boring in pretty much every other aspect, that is one interesting thing about Jiren. He became to strongest of several universes basically training the exact same way Piccolo does. And who knows how old Jiren actually is, so he may have been at this for centuries to get there (which has interesting implications for Piccolo if he maintains his power growth over several centuries).
In any case, the point is he got his power by just working and clawing at it, which honestly deserves some respect. Too bad the rest of his character isn’t nearly as inspiring.

You say that, but transforming was one of both Piccolo and Slug's best moments. I wonder what Giant Guru would have been like.
I would love to see Piccolo once again become an equal to Goku and Vegeta. We haven't seen that since the Cell Saga. Perhaps he can unlock his hidden dragon heritage.

The always have been pretty cool. The fact that Piccolo got sidelined for so long has been incredibly annoying
Namekians are definitely a very interesting race that has a lot of untapped potential. I would like to see Tuffles, Race of Hera, Konatsians, Beerus Race, Frezia Race, Cerealians and Metalmen’s lore to be more expanded on in the future. Earthlings also have a lot more untapped potential, lore and history to be explored.
Piccolo is my favorite character, but I don’t want to see just another power boost that Goku will inevitably make irrelevant. Namekians are such a unique species, and it would be cool to see Piccolo get stronger in a way that works with that.
Imagine if, instead of god ki, absorbing more Namekians, or some other established process, Namekians could learn to harness the ki and powers of the dragons? Even if it didn’t make him hit as hard as a Super Saiyan Blue, wouldn’t it be rad if one of the most strategic fighters in the series could grant wishes, even limited ones, on the fly? It wouldn’t matter if he couldn’t contribute to the fight in the same way as the Saiyans because he would be able to do things they can’t.

Something that I'm curious about are the Namekian Eggs - Can Namekians spawn eggs at any given time or is it only when they're on the verge of death do they reproduce?
It's implied in the Namek saga that they can do it at other times, since Guru apparently spawned everyone else on Namek.
Guru had over a hundred sons. But between him and Demon King Piccolo, it's implied that having so many sons can be quite exhausting and even debilitating since the Namekian is using his own life force to do it. Plus, you know, having kids is hard, so I can see why we don't see Namekians just vomiting up kids whenever.
Piccolo is so cool. The Namekians are great.

I’ve long thought that namekians are either the precursors to kais, a subset, or a mortal version. They look so similar and have similar powers. Think about it.
And they even sort of reproduce the same. Sort of.
Can we then FINALLY get kaioken Piccolo now? I don't care if it's with god-ki or not, although it would make sense when taking Kami's experience into account.

Piccolo has drip that Vegeta will never have
3:15 I recall that Saonel and Pilina fused with all of the Universe 6's Namekians to give them a massive boost of power that gave Piccolo and Gohan a hard time before they were defeated.
Now that the Tournment of Power is over with all deleted Universes restored, Saonel and Pilina will have to repopulate the Namekian race with new generations of eggs.
Though it’s interesting that these two massive Fused Namekians from U6 were partially felled by a single U7 Namekian of only three (really two if you want to count Kami/Piccolo as a ‘restored’ Namekians rather than a fusion). This is even commented on as they’re defeated in the ToP. We have to remember that Piccolo is a freakishly powerful Namekian compared to the rest of his people. My theory is that this is due to him being a clan hybrid (due to King Piccolo ‘forcing’ his offspring into being both a Warrior clan, but also his own reincarnation, muddying the waters) that brings him closer to the true makeup of Zalama than others, who all seem to have their own set predestined paths. Piccolo doesn’t explore the path of magic and divine power himself in the series, but I think much of that comes from choice and lack of proper training rather than not having the ability. Clothes Beam, for example, seems like a very non-Warrior clan power. His telepathy may also derive from this (though I may just not be remembering if that’s ever established as a general species trait or just with a subset of them). In any case, it could all lead to interesting results if he ever underwent God Ki and/or UI training.
I want to interject here, they specifically said they fused with THOSE WHO VOLUNTEERED I'm sure they probably had like 100 of them left for the purpose of repopulating I dont think everyone volunteered they would've thought ahead.
I'm under the impression they fused with other Warrior types. So there should be plenty of Dragon clan members left.

Now this makes me think about what happens if namekians reproduced, made all of their offspring train, fuse them all together and recycled the process a few more times and then have the fused offspring from the last batch fuse with the original namekian. Would you have a super powerful namekian or something? On that note, were the rules for how powers works in namekian fusion explained before? Was it just a+b=c or was it axb=c?

I was under the impression Kami was about 300 to 400 or so. No idea about Lord Slug, but he looked a lot older than Kami.

Never been news to me, the namekians have always been far more interesting than saiyans, I'm still not even remotely interested in the current arc since it seems to just be shifting back into the goku and vegeta show again. I'm still only checking because of granolah, the heeters, and to see if someone will finally fixed the mistake goku made with friezas revival since the entire namek/frieza saga is practically pointless and if the others z fighters will be relevant somehow.
Somebody finally gets me. Everytime I said Namekians were all of my Dragonball friends would call me Nappa because I was bald and big.

No, but the capacity to grant immortality to anyone else is kinda tossed.

@@herofox12 Pretty sure that is one of the wishes outside of their dragon's power to accomplish, or they'd be capable of making themselves immortal without the dragon balls they make.
Or, as a condition, they can't use the balls they've made.
Did Kami use the dragon balls he made? No. Did Guru? No. Did Moori when he inherited Porunga? No. Did Dende when he remade Shenron? No.
@@herofox12 because that would be a foolish wish. Miracles happen for a short while, and the dragonballs in that world are to normal people, not the dragon team, chocked up to miracles.
@@herofox12 that too could also be the catalyst of why Kami or Guru never had wished for immortality or never had that desire. Because the earth and namek dragonballs had that quirk where the creator dies so too fades one immortality.

I couldn't agree more, one thing that the Moro arc and now this current arc is doing well is expanding the lore of U7 in general and other species other than Saiyans. Dragon Ball Super is definitely becoming more and more distinctive with this one.

If the universe 6 namekians fused to boost their power way high, imagine if King Piccolo bothered to gather strength by endessly forcing his children to get really strong and then fusing with them. We'd probably have a King Piccolo that would look like he belonged more in a Dragon Quest game.
Always thought characterwise, the coolest and most badass is Piccolo.
In Saiyans though, my least liked is Gokou and Adult Gohan. I like Vegeta and Goten much more (Unless SSJ4 is involved. I really like SSJ4 Gokou.)
To be honest alot of the other races or species need way more screen time than frickin saiyans.
That's partly why I've for the longest time liked and come to appreciate the *"Frieza force"* as a concept.(insofar as one can an organization of terror, brutal repression and genocide)
A colorful cast of suprisingly distinct looking folks in the service of the dreaded galactic tyrant Frieza, a multitude of minions/soldiers/cannon fodder, so many neat and even genuinely interesting visual designs (yes even the ones ripped from mythologies or based around gags), huge assortment of distinct looking races and faces, a variety of vibrant but not too offputting colors whole still wearing that general, iconic, distinct armor with a again suprising range of preferences to fit ones tastes but still be recognizable. And more to the point interesting lores to flesh out for various cultures throughout the Dragon Ball universe or...multiverse really.
Would also love to see more Earthlings being taught how to use ki, maybe by Gohan as he continues his own training to (hopefully) realize his potential once again!

I favor the idea that the Namekians are from one of the erased galaxies, or even from the realm they exist in now occupied by the divine forces. Gives them a motivation to someday bring the other universes back - and perhaps the universes themselves are the greatest dragon balls of all; the great slug eggs that emerged from the primordial chaos that came before all things, perhaps leading to some sort of retelling of the Tiamat story.
I heavily agree Sayians rely on the strength they are born with and waste there potential. Whenever they meet a powerful enemy they cower.
Namekians are warriors and can keep getting better they weren't afraid to stand up to frieza himself plus his men.

Since Sannel and Prihna already combined with most of the Namekians from Universe 6 and it might be less opening to explore the lore that made everything to be then it might be, that maybe came from one of the Erased Universes instead.
I love the Namekians I really want to see Piccolo surpass or be at least on par with Goku and Vegeta in a future arc.

I kind of think Namekians might be distantly related to the Kais. They have pointy ears, plant like attributes like being able to survive on water and sunlight, acting as planet guardians who can sense divine chi, long life spans, and now we find out they come from a realm beyond the normal universes
