The "life support" joke about SEGA 32X remains my favourite piece of writing by AVGN. It's one of those things you don't think of yourself, but when someone else mentions it, you are fascinated by how true it is.
Ya'll ain't tried the V-Smile by Leap Frog, have you? God, those games were crap. Even as a 5 year old I knew they were crap. But I didn't have anything else to play so I willingly tortured myself to get good at those games.
I once wrote an (unfinished) story where the R-Zone was an actual good console with amazing 3D graphics and outstanding VR and it revolutionized the game industry. The story even mentioned Tiger getting their shit together. I wish that was reality...

Nah, the R-zone is definitely worse than the LJN Video Art. The LJN Video Art wasn't really a game system, and it was also made 10 years earlier. In the 80's things like that were more excusable. There is no excuse for something like the R-zone existing in the 90's. If it was made in the 70's I'd say they did the best they could with the technology at the time.
I personally think the Virtual Boy has a solid enough library to not be so deserving of a high entry on this list. It's probably funner than everything on this list, to be honest.

I know most companies back then did not want to risk it and only had two ports, but that is actually a pretty genius idea to just have a port on top of each controller, though I feel the bottom of it would be better for another port. At least, for the nineties, this was good. It was before wireless became a thing and already allowed the option to have at least eight controllers at the same time. It seems like a cool idea for those "wait, I wanted this after all" moments.

Yes, i have the same sensation. IT all started when I was 5. I was watching TV, and i heard a thing in my ears that was really irritating throughout the whole day. But now, i just tap my ear (I know it sounds wired) REALLY HARD, BUT NOT TOO HARD, and it goes away. I guess this might help your problem whenever you have it.
I always found the Telstar Arcade to be quite cool. It looks like something who belongs on the Star Ship Original series from the 60's. Then again, it might work better as just a piece of prop. ;)
I just love the thought of some kid screaming in agony at how bad a game console is. Imagine it's Christmas morning, you're nine years old you just woke up with a brand new R-Zone only to find it's actually a modern torture device. Then you can't even tell your parents how bad it is because they spent like $200 on the thing so you have to pretend you like it. The horror!
I think forcing criminals to play with a LJN Video Art or an R-Zone would make an effective punishment... though they'd probably be begging for the sweet release of death before long.
Something that really grinds my butt is when people say something like the PlayStation is better than Xbox. It's not, but it's not the other way around ether. Both of them have their own pros and cons which balance each other out and doesn't make one superior to the other. There's really no such thing as a perfect console. So if you own a console or a computer long enough, whether you like it or not, you're going to encounter some issues once in a while, and you just have to man up and deal with it!
My Uncharted PS3 works perfectly as everybody I know are on their 3rd-4th Xbox from RROD. Microsoft cut quality corners. Pushed component lifespans to extremes. Not in performance, but cheap heat sinking. Hopefully Microsoft is not excavating old Atari carts to make a hole for the Xbox1.

I remember when I was a little kid in the video game section of Toys-r-us, the virtual boy was the only console that wasn't being played, and I kept trying to have fun on it while I waited for the kids on the other consoles to finish but I just couldn't get into it as much as I tried.
You know, regarding the ESO controller, one possibility is they made it that way for multiplayer. Multiple players tend to spread around the room, and can have trouble with distace due to chord size.
That's the reason the virtual boy was on a stand...... was not because of a genius not coming up with concept like everyone thinks.... it was to avoid lawsuits lol
3DO was great for its time. It took years of hating to realize how great it was. And the controller connecting was awesome as well. That way no one needed a stupid four player adapter.
The only good thing about the 32X is that it had Knuckles Chaotix (Epic Sonic game with beautiful soundtrack) which hasn't even been put on a game collection yet. SEGA! What are you thinking? Re-release that game!

Good video. I only disagree with 3DO. It only bombed because of its price. Good console. Much clearer than Sega CD. They even had the best street fighter 2. The 2 player controller concept was good. Easier to pass around to because the second player wire extends longer.

I thought Virtual Boy would be the worst but then came the Number 1 and I was like "Holy shit".
I remember when I was a little kid in the video game section of Toys-r-us, the virtual boy was the only console that wasn't being played, and I kept trying to have fun on it while I waited for the kids on the other consoles to finish but I just couldn't get into it as much as I tried.
You know, regarding the ESO controller, one possibility is they made it that way for multiplayer. Multiple players tend to spread around the room, and can have trouble with distace due to chord size.
I actually owned the R-Zone as a kid. I walked around a park playing it and accidently walked into a bike rack and fell over and broke the screen.

3DO was great for its time. It took years of hating to realize how great it was. And the controller connecting was awesome as well. That way no one needed a stupid four player adapter.

Good video. I only disagree with 3DO. It only bombed because of its price. Good console. Much clearer than Sega CD. They even had the best street fighter 2. The 2 player controller concept was good. Easier to pass around to because the second player wire extends longer.
Uhh, the 3DO wasn't that bad, but why only one controller port? The wire is longer, yes, but eyesight deceives...
