@suemonee. In New York we still call them pocketbooks. Now that I live in Texas Ive trained myself to say purse. I am 66 but my daughters in thier early 40's still say pocketbook. I think its a northeast thing.
I think some of the older terms you guys use are enduring. My grandma always said pocketbook. I’m 64:). Typically today they say handbag. But I think being you and calling it pocketbook is best. I do hear that term more in the South.
My grandma use to say that also but most people i know of now say purse. I haven't heard the term pocketbook since my grandma passed away a long time ago at least 45 yrs ago. Kayla you just call them whatever you want, that's your right. I think a year or 2 ago I was in Dr office and the older lady got up told her husband to grab her pocketbook. The lady next to her said after she left it's not a pocketbook. That dont make since, she said for it to be a pocketbook it would or should be able to fit into your pocket. A lot of us agreed and after you think about it thats about right. We call a crossbody cause it goes across your body, so a pocketbook should go in your pocket. Makes sense to me anyway. Like I said it's your call whatever you want to call them. Take care. Keep picking and finding the good stuff you guys .
I was laughing so hard when Julian said Pokeyman it was hilarious 😂 😂😂 You are both so cute and funny love it! Keep those beautiful personalities. Have a fantastic Labor Day weekend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜 Everyone Have a Happy Labor Day weekend, please be safe!

Those are worth big time money! I am blown away! You definitely are killing at the GW's today! Wowee! ( :
LOL, I'm 61& Boomer and say 'pocketbook' I thought I say it 'cause I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. Kayla, I have owned 2 LUG pocketbooks, I saw you find one & guess what, I bought 6 of them for $1.00 each !! I was excited to see the old silverware box, talk about storing stuff forever, my mom's silver sat for 20 years after she died, I cashed it in for megabucks in Reno, NV to cover dental expenses. NV is the pawn store mania state.
I had never heard the term pocketbook until I lived in Tennessee and Kentucky. Here in Idaho we refer to that shoulder weight as a purse maybe a handbag when there’s no shoulder strap. This is why it’s so fun to hear others talk from different areas, different terms as well as accents. 😊
I say purse. I always thought the pocketbooks where what we call wallets now. Because they have pockets for your bills, change and open up like a book for your check book.
Thank you it was because women didn't have pockets like man deadid so that was their pocket but the book part you got right thank you I'm glad you knew it for check book but it was because women did not have pock it you're not old enough to realize that I guess back in the day there were very few dresses that had pockets and most women wore dresses back then
Thank you for the shoutout!! We just love you both!! Julian, your parents are wonderful people! We are from Severna Park and formerly of Pasadena, MD. Fun to share favorite places in AAC!! God bless you!!
When I worked at Brighton in the mall years ago, we were trained to say handbags, never pocketbook, but I still say pocketbook lol that’s the Jersey in me❤
I grew up in Northern CA. We called them purses. Never heard the term pocketbook until we visited my cousins in Georgia. Now living in TX since 95 usually hear purse said. Never heard the term "buggy" until I moved to N Tex. We always said carts. Language is so interesting! Wonderful you had a successful day thrifting!
Complete or almost complete sets of flatware, even stainless can sell for good money. If you can get them cheap enough you can make a good profit. Like around $100 or more for some nicer sets. Doesn't have to be silver.
I tune in for mispronounced brands and other words, never disappoints 🤣. This one took about 20 seconds 🤣. I stay for the good content, but just knowing I know more brands than you gives me hope when I go full time reselling. May sound bad, but I'm old and have been part time reselling for 20 years, seeing you guys thrive is awesome
You can clean those cloth shoes by just putting them in the washing machine then letting them air dry. My grandmother said pocketbook. I'm in my 70s and have always called it a purse.
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
a good silverware box is always nice to find. my mom took forever to buy one for me for my setting. she said it cost $100 for me back in 1995, but I have a huge setting of fine silver. I just thrifted a second box for $8 to hold the additions I have.
"Pocketbook" comes from medieval times when Ladies would carry a scripture book in a sort of purse that was attached to the book and wrapped around with a strap for them to hang from their belts. They didn't usually carry money, but they always had their bible or scripture books.
Always a joy to watch you both. You're my kind of humans. So happy, grateful and most genuine. Keep up the flow of positive energy coming our way. Take care!!
Some great buys there Im Australian and we call them purses, wallets, handbags, and with the ones you call book bags, we call them backpacks... and with the squishmellows, you called Flounder, Sebastian (he's the crab), lol....love your vids, when are you going to do another storage unit .... take care
That is so funny you said that about the term ‘pocket book’. I have never heard anyone call a purse that till I was in my 20’s and with my in laws in Maine.
Congrats on the finds! I e-mailed you, Kayla, but it didn't go thru. Received my bobeches (candle wax catchers) and they are very pretty. They remind me of your work. I wanted to share I've used a white eraser to remove pen mark from the outside of a bag (pocket book, handbag, purse) ha, ha! It works great. Cats meow
You may want to look at piecing those Alvin tools out??? I have no idea, but as an interior designer, you need to draw by hand and computer! And some of those tools make cross-over into artists' tools!
Those Merrell women’s tennis shoes are the siren 3 with vibram soles. New $90 + pre owned in good shape $40-$50 . Pre owned looked almost new pair for $52 and a slightly worn pair for $45. Both pair belonged to my two daughters.Gotta love when you spend $200 on shoes that they swear they need but then barely wore. 😂🤣
My grandmother called what we would call he wallet a pocketbook. Her checkbook, id, credit cards and insurance information would be in there. Her purse she referred to as her handbag.
On the silverware knives. It won’t say sterling on the blade itself. It will be stamped on the handle. It will say sterling on handle and blade will say stainless. Just be sure to double check next time.
Just before 10 minutes in Kayla asked about purses v pocketbooks. Possibly the term pocketbook might have been coined that since women didn't have pockets for a very long time? I'm not sure about that, so don't stone me for that. I already am. I have heard both terms, but purses are larger and pocketbooks are large wallets in the purse holding money, cards and change, but not to be mistaken for a clutch.
Hi! Love both your channels. You both seem so down to earth and kind. Would love to see a video or two on how you clean or prepare things for sale (might fit better over on your other channel, but would love to see it on either).
A linguist told me that you can tell what part of US people are from depending on pocketbook or purse. If I remember correctly, pocketbook was South and purse was mid west. Since I am a mid west transplant at an early age I use both.
My mom born in 1924 always called it a “pocket book”. 18th Century women put their pocket journal in their “pocket book”. 1820 women would put all the same kind of stuff that men put in their pockets into the woman’s “pocket book” along with their journal. So, called a “pocket book”. The journal book that the women carried was small enough to fit in a pocket. Early 19th century became a “purse” that a woman carries. Some women called it “pocket book for the day time bag and a “purse” for the evening bag. I remember in the 70’s it changed to “purse” for all of the girls in high school. What about the “glove compartment” or “glove box” in a car. In old 737-100 commercial airplanes that started to fly in 1967 there was a metal shelf above the “overhead bin” that was a “hat rack”.
Fake anything should NEVER be sold. They need to get out of the market by being disposed of. The Merrills had Vibram soles, which is good. Pink erasers are rubber and can leave marks. The yellow ones are called "gum erasers" and are used because they erase cleanly. I'm a boomer and I was told that pocketbook was a term from my grandmother's era. I interchange it with purse....depends on style. On flatware, the knife blades on newer stuff is stainless, but the handle can be sterling. You have to look at (usually the bottom off) the handles. On older stuff, it will just be on the handles and blade is unmarked. I think I'd do $225 on the curries. Great shopping day!!!
Kayla you are right I still call them pocket books and no I was asked well what is a pocket book and I said well it's a purse is that matter but I grew app calling pocket books and I was told the reason they were called pocket books is because women didn't have pockets or anything to carry in so they gave them I don't know where the book comes from but it's a pocket book
Curious to know how much is your booth rent and the size ? I'm opening a booth in Painted Tree Boutique. I believe it's 8x12 for $400. This is in Sugar Land Texas . It's going to be tough to make rent and profit but I'm going to try my best to. Great video and awesome finds !!!
I think it may be an East Coast term because I’m a boomer and I have never called it a pocketbook and neither did my Mother (she w as from Oklahoma and I was raised on the west coast) but my Aunt that is from New Jersey calls it a pocketbook 🥰, my cousins still do.
Thanks so much for watching!!!!
Of course! ( :
Kayla you just keep calling them pocketbooks. I love that you use that term. Yes my Granny also used that term. 😊😊😊
I`m 61, and I've called it a pocketbook for as long as I can remember. I guess it's because that is what my mother and my grandmother called it. 😊

The erasers in the drafting kit are great because they don't tear up the paper! And pocketbooks is a phrase my grandmother used (and I'm a boomer).
