    Hi, I just wanted to say that I always enjoy your videos for many reasons, but among them are 1) you're always so measured and polite - no "What's up jerks?" but rather "Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome", love that; 2) always full of good, interesting, relevant and as I've said before measured opinions and analysis (just recently I really enjoyed the under-the-hood shield maths); 3) you seem to love the game I love even more than I love it and as a long term player with often not a great amount of opportunities to play, it does my heart good to touch base with someone who makes me feel that ED is still being appreciated so much (for similar reasons I also watch The Buur Pit, OA, DigThat32, The Pilot, good old sweary Yamiks and so on but I really appreciate your particular angle of approach) so thanks D2EA, keep up the good work.

  • @Kissamiess
    @Kissamiess 5 лет назад +3

    Not bad, it has given me some ideas. What I disagree most is the Power Plants. *Armoured* is the go-to mod that should get Hera Tani's G5 pin. It both increases the power generation and improves heat efficiency. What's not to like? Overcharged, in my opinion, should be avoided and used on as low grade as you can get away with if you do have to use it. Therefore Qwent could be good for that. Low Emissions is much more niche, though that being said I have 2 G5 ones, for the explorer and installation hacker, and one G2, for the miner with an undersized fuel scoop.

    • @Kissamiess
      @Kissamiess 5 лет назад

      @theKoshmeister OC isn't too awful if you stay on the lower grades and slap Thermal Spread on it. I think you can usually be more sloppy about it and upgrade it piecemeal as you get more materials. Radically undersized reactors might be an exception. Armoured often requires planning it out beforehand and going straight to full G5 to get enough power. Of course my personal preference factors into it as I have fuel scoops in most of my ships and prefer not to overheat that much while shooting things.

    If you're going to use combat heavy ships, get weapon enhanced. You pewpew a lot more with it and, especially for the Mamba and Viper, you won't be boosting much in combat. Shooting for 2-3 times longer with gimbals is super sweet. If you're going fixed, weapon charge isn't as important, and the drain from turrets so low it doesn't really matter if you go heavily either of those two, but if you run gimbals mostly, especially if you use lateral thrust to keep off axis and therefore stay out of fixed guns of the opponent, gimbals allow you to ignore chaff since you can fire pretty much nonstop anyway.

    I know I'm late to the party here DTEA, but I noticed that when you added Etienne Dorn from Colonia that you started changes with Lori Jameson. This caught my attention as a potential misstep.
    As you have to have Elite status to enter Shinrarta Dezhra (Where Lori is), and all ships and modules are cheapest (or nearly so) at Jameson Memorial in that system, wouldn't the best play be to purchase ships there, pin everything the other Engineers offer that Lori doesn't, then make the journey in system to get everything Lori has and add experimentals right there?

      Problem is, this guide is either outdated or misleading. He doesn't mention that you can only pin one blueprint per module. As a new player, I didn't know that.
      For Farseer and Martuuk, he says one should be FSD range and the other something else. What he didn't say was that something else has to be NOT FSD related. I pinned Farseer with FSD range and went to Martuuk to improve FSD in another way, but I couldn't. He also has Tani and Qwent for power plant, Palin and Sedesi for thrusters.
      The way he made the chart insinuates that you could have multiple mods on the same module, when it's not true.

    I love your videos! They've been so helpful for a newer player. Would you consider re-thumbnailing your info videos that are no longer applicable? For players that have only come in to the game over the past 6mo or so, I've noticed so much info online seems useful, but there have been so many changes to the game that you run into brick walls with some strategies pretty quick. As an example, your videos about G5 engineer mats or the supercruise assist trick have both been patched out of usefulness. Also, you did another video about Long Range being definitively better than Efficient for Beam Lasers, so it'd be nice to know what I'm really looking for in the current meta. Keep up the awesome work!

    Allowing CMDRs to Engineer at any station (with Engineers you've unlocked) would then mean CMDRs can Engineer more regularly and in more smaller or organic ways!

    Tip: use a text highlighter plugin to mark the pins you want on the Inara engineers page. I use Super Simple Highlighter for Chrome:

    ?So not understand, but trying to understand, Pinning a BP is just getting that mod installed right? Or is pinning something else? You don't have to Pin, but I don't get the reason you pin a BP. To Pin or Not to Pin-I'm not sure the advantage of doing this? You Vid spoke of remotely using or mod'ing a module... Is this due to having prior pinned BP at an Eng at a diff location? OR some other thing I'm not understanding. Are Pinned BP considered in your inventory? These options sand how they function for you is confusing to me. Is there a link someone can point me to so I can understand the Eng process better? TY to all CMDR's

      At many stations, you can have access to engineer any module on your ship, by using the blueprints you have pinned. It means you no longer need to go to the engineer to do it

    Does anyone know of a good video explaining engineers from first contact to a grade 5 module? What to do, what to get, etc. I'm an old player (vanilla) returning to Elite but this feature is a little ambiguous. Links welcome, thanks all.

    Hey DTEA, have you ever tried Star Citizen? If so, thoughts on potential vs how FDev development of elite is so slow..

      How can anything be slower than star citizen, which is absolutely nothing resembling a functional game?

    I always take armoured. More efficient than vanilla (whilst overcharged is less), but still gives you more power. The overcharged is good for a grade 3 pin. If you go grade 5 you'll fry most builds unless they are noob ships that have small powerplants.
    I also go for heavy duty on D shield boosters. Most of the benefit and the same weight, near enough, of the A rated boosters that I usually put resist augment or thermal augment, depending on what I put on the shield.

    You are such a blessed resource. Thank you for all the time and effort (the shield software build) to help us grinders. To say more would detract the appreciation!

      You don't need them all, it's not a stamp collection.
