You can use the goo gun on enemies to confirm kills or to make space. Here's something you have to understand before I explain this playstyle, when you're stuck in goo, you can't move, and if the goo is covering your head, you can't shoot either. Let's say your team is in a 3v3, using the goo gun to turn that 3v3 into a temporary 3v2 is crazy, by trapping them in just one or two shots of your goo gun you temporarily take them out of the game. Say someone on the enemy team just got gooed, the enemies can either fight and most likely get team wiped due to the numbers disadvantage, or they could run away. In both scenarios, after the enemy stuck in your goo escapes, they'll have to face your team solo, this strategy is CRAZY! I recommend using close-range, high-damage weapons such as the sledgehammer, shotgun, and spear to confirm kills as soon as the enemy gets out of your goo. The ability to completely stop a lone light in their tracks and wait outside the goo with a sledgehammer alt fire is just crazy. I really love this playstyle and I hope you enjoyed my comment, thanks!
if your teammate's a medium and you're a heavy/vice versa always stick together. Mediums movement tools can all be used by heavies so that they have a much easier time closing the gap. Light's teleport also can work but it generally would require more communication whereas even if a med uses jump pad selfishly you can utilise it to great effect too.

I'm a Winch and Sledgehammer player and I have found that barricades work a lot better than the dome shield in my case, because they obscure your character, giving you a chance to do some tricky plays, if you're on a higher floor you can barricade then break the floor and move from there, if they're the kind of players that try to get closer you can preemptively charge your heavy slam and slide-peak around it to do massive damage, you can also use it to climb floors after breaking the ceiling above when you cannot reach naturally.
For melee yeah I could see that, especially if you have a bit of a more bait focused playstyle. If you use a gun though I find dome shield to be super helpful. If I ever play melee I usually just run both though lol
Everytime I see you in my lobby Ronin I go: Oh shit I watch that guys videos he's really good! Then proceed to convince my teammates that we shouldn't leave the game as we become mincemeat. Great video btw as always.
A good combo with goo gun is pyro grenade or flamethrower so you can shoot out goo blocks in a chain before a enemy team comes over and when they are close to the goo use your flamethrower or pyro grenade reach the enemy and you can extend it wherever the opposite team is to get the fire damage
So many good options! Heavy is my main. Always run RPG, frag, and barricade since it’s a good blend of range, damage, and protection. C4 can be slow to use and is best as a defensive item. When pushing, I find there’s not enough time to use it effectively, hence the RPG / frag combo. I’ve got to try the shotty / winch combo, after watching you use it!
I appreciate the vid, man. I'm pretty solid at medium and light but the heavy is an obstacle I've been trying to learn cuz tbh I've been kinda stagnant lately. So thx!
If you’re using the goo gun u can also crate little roads to connect the flying strictures, u can burn them off with a flamethrower if u see an enemy approaching
Awesome content, man! I've loved all of them so far, and you absolutely earned my sub! Keep doing what you're doing and I think you'll grow very quickly!
Surprisingly I enjoy goo nade and charge and slam combo quite a bit, I can use the goo defensively and offensively while even switching my slam into it as well with some sneaky plays
As a heavy sledge main, yes. I like the goo nade instead of c4, since I can drop the cashout with my sledge. And that's also the exact reason why i run goo nades. One of the only mobility items heavy has, since you can make any hole with sledge. You can be VERY slippery as a heavy if you learn how to use it.
Hey Ronin, Awsome vid! Have you thought about doing a video on how to play with randoms? A lot of my frustration with the game comes from finding it very frustrating to play with teammates sometimes. If you have any tips when solo queueing with each class it would be greatly appreciated!
I am heavy weapons guy, and I’m going to SMASH, heavy have lots of good gadgets that can change the environment, and especially chargeNslam is just feels good to use. It’s good at ambushing and defending cash out, not even mentioning the crazy damage it could deal. Personally I would say if you play heavy, you are going to be the team leader in most of the time. Since you have to be in the front.
I was a light since the start but light is just kinda like the person that all they care about is getting kills and is in my opinion the most toxic of them all, I switched to heavy and I found my self having way more fun then I ever did I and I can actually help the team.
I feel like barricade is extremely underrated on heavy. It's finicky and downright BS at times getting caught on every poly in a map, but it's INSTANT hard cover with the added benefit of being able to be picked up on the fly.
Only if they end up running snipers, but there’s lots of advantages that makes having high ground good in pretty much every single FPS video game. Good vantage points, head glitches, better positioning, etc. There will be times when having high ground is bad but 70%-80% of the time it’s going to be the best option
I need to use these tips so I can get out of Gold. Unless I am sweating killing like a demon, I can’t trust my teammates to kill anybody or even deal damage. Been trying Mesh+SA with some degree of success, but I find that unless I am having a great game of killing everybody, I’m going to lose and nobody using microphones in Gold either 😢 Appreciate the Heavy tips!
I try a bit of soloQ every season to kinda see how the experience is, and this season gold is actually miserable. It gets quite a bit better in mid plat, I understand your pain 😅
@ season 2 I was low plat and the general players I got as teammates at least weren’t cross-eyed so that spoiled me lol Cheers to the soloQ climb out of Gold. Maybe I’ll find a buddy to climb with since aiming and basic positioning will win most engagements in Gold ❤️🩹
As a heavy main, I play with flamethrower, charge/winch, dome, rpg, and goo. I have everything in my loadout to white + mastery but I still want to know if I should change smth
I mean play whatever works for you, but I usually find that having as many shields as possible and letting burn damage do the work sometimes is best for flamethrower. I tend to use mesh shield with it even after the nerf, and do flame, mesh, flame, dome, flame, mesh again. While winch is good with most melee weapons, flamethrower is best at taking out groups of targets and has pretty slow close range dps while winch is good for confirming kills with high DPS, so I would recommend using charge or mesh. Ideally getting groups of enemies is where your flame will excel in the DPS department so playing for that instead of single isolated eliminations gets more value out of flamethrower.
Mesh Shield used to be undoubtably the best specialisation for heavy. the cool down and removing the melee ability really hurt it. the HP nerf doesn't help either. i miss heavy KS 23 duels :/
I don't use winch much, but anti-grav is super strong with goo gun and sledge. If teams are closing in on your cashout in a building, throw out an antigrav on it. Jump in, sledge the ceiling, ride with the cashout up to the floor above, then patch up the hole you just made with the goo gun. Now you're a floor (or two!) above where everyone's pushing. Works the same for attacking a cashout. Instead of going down to steal it, open a hole in the ceiling above it, throw down your anti-grav and bring it to you. Patch the hole once the box is through, and the cashout is yours to steal.

Is there a good sugesstion what i could put insted of the pyro nade/mine and also how do you jump after running in charge n slam sunce spacebar doesnt work for me.
RPG is still really good, and in terms of the other gadgets I think frag grenade and pyro mine (which you already have on there) are versatile and good for stalling. Also C4 is the stall king but is a bit of a higher level strat and maybe not advised for brand new heavies. I wouldn’t recommend pyro nade cause the damage is really bad compared to other gadgets, but it could be buffed next season so we’ll see what changes come then. As for charge and slam, you just need to jump before your charge and slam runs out and it should trigger by itself. If you’re jumping right after the run finishes that’s your issue - you need to do it while the run is still going
@ronin_fps ok thx for charge and slam advice and i might pick up the c4 if pyro nade isnt getting buffed next season since i still got time to learn till next season.
