Brilliant video as usual, one thing your face looked like mine when I saw the screen size, went straight back and got a ftm400.
please keep up the good work.

Would be interested to see how you feel about only having a single user definable group when most radios have a couple of dozen or so these days.

Thanks for the comment. I have not looked at the radio in any depth yet but I guess it all depends how you use the radio :)

Hi Ian, I have been waiting for you to do another review on this radio. I am very concerned about me being able to connect to repeaters on analog. and do you think the screen is big enough. Thank you, I am in Australia {Brisbane} from Ross Stokes

Hi Isabella. I actually sold the radio fairly quickly purely because the reason I bought it changed pretty quickly. The 300 works fine on FM and repeaters are not a problem at all. It works in exactly the same way as any other radio in that regard. Whether the screen is big enough I cannot say. It all depends on how you want to use it. It is a clear screen and easy to read. It's no 400 screen wise but it is good enough. The cooling is much better than the 400 also

I hear that the FTM-100 is being discontinued, and that this is replacing it. Do you know if the SMB-201 (desk fan mount) will fit this radio and work with its new vented air flow system?
My Gateway FTM-100 gets hot if it's constantly TX'ing both sides of a conversation (100% TX cycle) and I like to keep the SMB-201 running. I'm curious if the FTM-300 will be a useful replacement Gateway radio if my FTM-100 ever dies.

Hi. It won't fit directly as the mount on the 300 is different. I guess it would be possible to make it fit in some way but not directly.
