- Опубликовано: 6 окт 2024
- As part of the acceptance program for the new R211 subway cars, several announcement tests are carried out by operating the train in simulated passenger service. Here we see the prototype train of R211s performing this test. Enjoy!

I'm thrilled to see the R211s eventually take over the subway system.
Lets enjoy these train cars while their still clean. From what I've seen out of the R179 bodies from Pitkin yard, its a damn shame they don't clean those subway cars enough.
I’m also thrilled but sad at the same time. The R46s are being replaced by these.
it may take over a few lines but the whole system? doubt it. plus these can’t fit on the number lines can they?
@@Izakokomarixyz No only IRT trains can
2:30 that just looks epic as hell.
Not really
That sound of the R211 is fired! 🔥
I agree! it sounds like a spaceship lol but I love it.
Running neck to neck with the Siemens I think it has a run for it’s money lol
@@snackwrap2011 I think the contract was bout $1B.
It’s basically an R160B lol
Gave me goosebumps 😍😍😍
The MTA are getting these cars in service more faster than Amtrak with the Avelia Liberty's
I KNOW RIGHT!!!
facts
it will be released next month or sooner
There’s kind of a 105mph difference in service speed. But yeah sure.
@@banksrail I wasnt talking about speed, I was talking about how fast they are being placed into service
Glad it's making progress the sound is amazing can't wait for it to be in service this summer
I heard it’d be on fall 2022
@@BigPops757 I heard September 12th 2022 from Matthew Lawrence
@@BigPops757 mtainfo said summer
@@star80doessdastuff well summer has passed and its not in service yet still so 🤷🏻♂️
Sounds like an unsuccessful shepherd's tone, in my opinion. Neat!
I really like the design and sounds of the R211.
same, it definitely grew on me
The mock up was nicer though
@@kinkisharyocoasters I agree and I bet they won't be as smooth as the R179's
Heck yeah might become the best ntt yet
How about using the regular round lights and maybe they'll grow on many others!! No!! New York had to revert to some dumb car lights on their rail cars!! Did a transgender design those lights???? Earl of EL BARRIO, NYC,NY.
2:30 AM 6/5/22
Dang, that propulsion sound is beautiful!
Psyched to see that the new LED displays show the actual color of each line. Blue A,C,E etc. This was lost when the first wave of next-gen trains (R142, R179) arrived and everything was reduced to red displays front/rear and yellow displays on the sides. It actually made me nostalgic for the old vinyl displays because color coding is such an iconic part of the system. Glad it's back.
Awesome catches and propulsion of the R211. I definitely can't wait for these new subway cars to enter service. It will be interesting to see how the A line operates with the R211 and CBTC activated
what is cbtc
CBTC is Communications Based Train Control. It is more efficient than the current ATS Block signalling system that exists in the subway. It is automated in a sense where trains communicate with the signals via transponders beneath the train and plates on the track. Trains can be stopped and provide more accurate location data. Trains can also run more closely to eachother with CBTC. With this system, train can also run at greater speeds more efficiently throughout the subway system
These cars will allow seamless bike storage without taking up a ton of Space because of the folding long seats. The letter lines will get this first so the notorious D train with tons of bikes will feel way less crowded
0:51 the propulsion sounds AWESOMEEEEE! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
To me, it sounds like a lower pitched R142A. Which is fine, I love the R142A propulsion sound. Though I might be biased as someone who grew up on the Jerome Avenue line.
No it’s not
It sounds like a higher pitched R160 Siemens
This is such an improvement from the R160's and the other old subway trains
AmazIng! Cant wait to see it transform the A/C lines into the 21st century! Any idea if it will be doing similar testing Friday night?
Cbtc work occurs during weekends so weekday nights is when testing occurs
A bit of the past brought into the present
OMG They’re coming out this summer!
Absolutely hyped for the R211s! 😁🙏
One word to describe it: Beautiful!
If you pause somewhere around the 0:27 mark, there is an arrow visible from inside where you see it from the window. It’s the first time we will see something like that since the NTT’s were introduced in the NYC Subway
Wow that awesome!
@@jordanplays-transitandgame1690 That right there will now inform commuters who are new or if they witness some changes, to now direct to the doors these sets will open.
@@amazinlion That will benefit the tourists alot lmao
@@jordanplays-transitandgame1690 lol
That is definitely much needed.
This is probably the best NTT in NYC, the propulsion is so sexy and quiet
I'm still partial to the R-10s. They ruled the A with an iron fist back in the day.
Sure did. I was lucky enough to ride. them during their final days on the C
@@fsdf3755 I rode them many, many times on the A!
These announcements are so nice for R211
@boygamer100 thebest 🤫 let people enjoy things...
That's incredible video of R211. I can't wait to see it in service. By the way, DJ Hammers. What a [A]wesome video of R211.

Oink oink.
Can't wait to ride the R211's, especially the R211T's that are being delivered this month.
Do you mind providing any sources of where you claim to have heard that the R211T's are being delivered this month? I know that the "open-gangway" test train would be delivered but until sometime late 2022 to early 2023.
@@DBSGEEK well he could be right, a 5 car test train was already built in one of the Kawasaki facilities and it has a picture of it online on what the opens gangway looks for it, so maybe it could come sooner than expected!
@@DBSGEEK The latest timeline provided in the MTA's Board Materials calls for both R211T and R211S pilot sets to be on property by Fall 2022.
@@BrIaNMeRcY1022 that’s on September 12th
@@yoelkranczer580 Nowhere did I provide an accurate date. The deliveries of the R211's is decided upon the MTA and Kawasaki. I can assure everybody that the R211 order won't be complete till 2027.
Very excellent probably one of the best videos of the r211
Great video!!! The Announcements are abit quicker than the ones you hear on the R179's. Hopefully this same thing can be carried out on to other lines like Concourse, Clover, Crosstown, etc.
Exactly like how it was when they the R160s running on the A & C Lines
that thunder and lightning 🌩 tho 😳
Lightning and Thunder welcome the New A Trains💯
Amazing thunderstorm!!!
Why was the propulsion almost inaudible in past videos and now it sounds loud and clear? Anyway I think it sounds great and I can't wait to ride and see it for the first time
My guess is that in early testing phases they were not accelerating as hard.
It looks like there’s now ballast loads aboard which emulates passenger weight. (The loaded palettes just inside the doors.). That will add resistance foe the motors to work against to accelerate, thus the louder sounds.
There were only 5 cars, now there are full 10 car sets
They really do embody futuristic, this design is slick. 😎
I think my first ride on/in the NYC subway system was on the "A" to the "L" from Broadway Junction in 1975. I grew up on the Subway from there....
I live right by the A at Euclid Ave so I'm always taking it downtown/Manhattan, hopefully I'll start seeing the R211's at Euclid very soon.
I remember when the "E" used to come into BWay Junction and to me, it sounded like brushes on the tracks.... And then the whistle as it was ready to leave.....
i know that sound in chennai subway, well they look similar, the same looks luxurious and cool the sound of r211
I can finally hear the propulsion properly!
Sounds alot like the Siemens 160s
@@TheLordAI it’s great, I’d have accepted Kawasaki style propulsion as well
@@TheLordAI it maybe different
They look great - and sound quiet and fast. Ahh - Franklin and Fulton in the early 80s - those were the days!
R211T will be on MTA property in 2 weeks 😁😁 so excited
Source? That would be amazing! I was worried that the open gangway cars were never gonna come (or not come for many years)
@@AutumnBosco NEVER ASK ME About a source. I AM THE SOURCE
@@lewisasaprichards5649 👍👍
@@AutumnBosco Yes there' will come with open gateways I'm just letting you know that now
Should be before July
the r211 sound reminds me of the 1996 stock on the London underground
I can not wait for the R211 !!!!!🙏👍👌⬇
It looks like it can handle the rain well, can't wait to try em out
2:30 is no one gonna talk about how the r211 came in with the storm?
I will. That was a cool catch!
The day is finally (almost) here!
those are nice, finally adapting the colors of the subway lettering and hopefully the numbered trains in the future.
The R211 really is a more modern approach
3 o'clock in the morning the A train is PACKED!!!
No other subway trains are packed with people at
3AM but the A train 🚆 🙃 🙌...
It may be the camera exposure, but the train designation signs need more contrast as white on blue is washed out. Perhaps a black outline of the letter would help keep the line stand out from the background.
I think it’s just the camera exposure like you said.
Ok I just knew we wait a lil longer the video freaking 16 mins thank u sooo much 💯🙏🏽☺️
Over the years, I have watched hundreds of videos just like this, but nobody ever explains where Subway riders are supposed to use the bathroom!
I just have to ask, Dj what’s the intro music called!!!
It called Kesta: Windy Blur, R62a 1 Train official.

The train the New York City subway deserves
Deserves? Who marked up the old ones? Residents of Chicago?
She’s a beaut! Hopefully this is a step in the right direction for American transit systems
1:43 THE STAND CLEAR OF THE CLOSING DOORS ANNOUNCEMENT SOUND IS NOW HEARD ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRAIN!!!
Same in 14:38
The “Stand clear of the closing doors” announcement can be heard on the outside of the train for ALL NTT trains. But most conductors turn off the the outside speakers after announcing the next stop so you don’t hear it often.
@@derickfromnyc i agree. I heard a STOCD on the outside of a R188 on the 7 line.
The r211 looks awesome
I'm gonna start feeling nostalgic for the old R160's and other subway cars the R211's are set to be replacing
It would be awesome if there were an IRT version.
Using the same design and shinking it IRT size results in R262. If you knew the trains from the 1940-1960s the BMT IND R16 R10 R27 30 became IRT R17 R21 R22 R36ML WF R33ML WF R28 R29 R12 which is what the train of Many Colors is made of. The Museum Train
I'm happy that they brought back the old school bullet instead of having a big red, digital "A" on the front.
That was one of the dumbest downgrades the MTA has done to the trains. They could've atleast made it so that it changes colors depending on the route being displayed. For example instead of the A being red it would be blue
@@morganlimes I agreed with you on the sentence you said about the r211
So am I. That feature aspect should have NEVER discontinued when building the earlier tech trains. But the colored front/side route bullet design should remain a constant feature for future NYC subway models. Its easier to tell right of way which subway line the train is running.
Saw these at the Jay Street stop in Brooklyn a few months ago.
Yessir
The R-179 and the R-211 will go great together now that I think about it
The sounds gonna be crazy specially with the E too

@@darkclouds7011 not at all

Let's goooo
To complete the final inspections and tests in the U-Bahn Vienna X-Wagen before starting passenger service in a few weeks
Wow they clean that very well then the other nyc trains that's very lit r22 trains like the TRAIN
R211
Sounds like a Light Cycle speeding away
I hope the r211’s get on the N and Q lines ASAP for revenue testing! I have a gut feeling that the r211s will go to the Queens Blvd lines first 🥲
R211 will not go on the N Q W because those lines don’t have Cbtc and it doesn’t make sense that putting newer trains on a line that does not have Cbtc so therefore R211 will not be on the N Q W.
Probably. But A and C get them for now.
R211s will NOT be going to Queens Blvd at all. R211s will be going to the A/C first, then B/D with a chance of serving N/Q/W as well.
@@derickfromnyc only If the broadway line gets cbtc
@@derickfromnyc You will have an egg on your face come 2024-2025. Expect the (E) and (F) to be 100% R211. Coney Island is getting displaced R160's from Jamaica to to help retire their R46's. The BMT Broadway Line won't be 100% NTT till the mid-to-late-2030's.
I. They are still testing the R211 right know today
Nice! Can't Wait!
I am hyped about the r211 but i am not hoping to replace the whole r46 or r179
That propulsion sounds far to futuristic. 😎
Clean asf
Interesting sounds these make.
Great video. The r211 cars look and sound good. 😀😀💚💚
To a degree, these cars sound like Market-Frankford Line cars when accelerating.
She’s gorgeous inside and out. The R179 loves her. She tells me.
That’s dumb to say
The headlights look kind of cool
Yessir great catches!
Man when it stops it's like it's not even on it's so quiet (unless the fans are on).
These R211s are some sexy looking trains!!!
So I guess the R68 is the only old train in here in the IND
I enjoyed that video 👍👍
Yesssssss
why isn't new york getting full walkthrough trains yet? that would increase capacity a lot
There’s going to be a smaller subset of this order that has an open-gangway version of this train car.
That’s R211T. Those 2 10-car trains will test open gangway feature. They should be delivered this month.
R-179 i nicknamed The Jet because it sounds like one this one sounds like a jumbo jet taking off lol
The propulsion unit is actually from a Sydney New South Wales Metro Alstom Metropolis. That's why R211 doesn't make the same sound as R142 R160B Alstom R160A Washington Metro 2000 3000 & 6000 series trains all use same propulsion
It does got some sounds from the R160B which does got siemens
This vehicle R211 is made in Japan at KOBE city Kawasaki Industries.
It is vvvf (Variable Voltage Variable Frequency) great sound.
I am Japanese people.
sorry. Don't speaking English.
I hope it will be in service
Hold on this is the same HVAC and propulsion to the SEPTA metro trains. Damn…
Hop on!
After I watch the mermaid cosplay livestream by miss Ruby (very awesome), this video was extremely awesome. I can't wait to ride the R211, New York pride. Nice job DJ!
I have a feeling you be running to catch these trains
I was wondering why there is no open gangway. it seems the R211 has 3 models: the A, T and S. Only the T has an open gangway.
Isn’t the Staten Island RR getting these too?
Yes
Dedicated set of 75 R211s called the R211S will be delivered to them soon. It’s part of the 535-car base order.
sound’s quite similar to the Leonardo trains of Milan metro
YES!
Now that I hear it, It kinda sounds like a pitched up 1996 tube stock
Those trains sound like the sydney metro trains
Can't wait for my daily commute to be either 2s fater or 30 more minutes longer
amazing
The criminals terrorizing the subways are waiting with bated breath for these to enter revenue service.
It's like a R46 and R160 had a baby R211
This is cool n all but can you look thru the window from the front view or is it blocked?
