    @MsC1953 Yes, the Century and some other "name" trains were so popular that they ran in sections to accomodate the public demand. At its peak, the Century ran in three and even four sections.

    You can tell from the locomotive (as its a "J-1" vs a "J-3" Hudson that wasn't built till 1938) plus women's hairstyles & dress that this is @ 1932 - 35. The video affirms Lucius Beebe's comment that, though the Century departed from/arrived in NYC, "it was a Chicago Train" (partly due to meeting celebrities, etc from western Railroads).

    This is awesome! Never knew what went into supplying the train back then. Love those giant baskets - love to find one someplace! - with the NYCRR on the side. Thanks for posting this!

      Yep. Sometimes it ran in 3 or 4 "sections" to meet the demand.
