idk if you remember, but you mentioned Yuki lying about them dating, but don't forget that it wasn't even Yuki's idea to do that, it was Miyamura and Hori's idea, and Toru went along with it. Yuki went along with it because she likes Toru, but felt guilty over it, constantly conflicted about her own feelings and how it was affecting Sakura.
Lying was her decision (not hori or anyone else’s) but yeah even if she hadn’t lied about that results would have been similar cuz toru started falling for yuki and that’s the he didn’t correct Sakura about the misunderstanding
@@kulvinderkaur4694 you say it was her decision, but thats not entirely true. Again it was Miyamura and Hori who proposed the idea, with Miyamura already getting the ok from Toru via the phone regarding helping her, then they were the one to mention it to Toru, with Yuki not fully accepting until Toru agreed to it. Sure you could say she decided to go along with it, but it wasn't her idea, everyone else already agreed first, and they came up with the idea not her.
Should be mentioned that she didn't lie to keep Toru away from Sakura, but to dodge a confession from Yanagi.
@@duelsphere you are making it sound like Yuki didn't make the decision to go for it herself, but she did. Of course she was iffy about it since she didn't want to burden Toru with the task nor show her true feelings but in the end, she did want that to happen and so decided to go along with it, she did regret it afterwards when Sakura came into the picture but even then she decided to not clear the misunderstanding for Sakura to go ahead.
In the end, the only one without any shed of responsibility here is Sakura and sadly the one that ended up being hurt, though it makes me feel bad for her and what Yuki did was kind of shitty even if not intentional, things like these happen all the time and if anything I'm glad Sakura could confess her feelings so that she could move on from it
At the end of the day, Toru never liked Sakura. All of their interactions were entirely Sakura pushing things and Toru being nice. Toru's liked Yuki for a while now but as he said, Yuki would always create her own distance. There's a reason he enjoyed "pretending" to be her BF, and why he continued to do so long after they needed him to.
When Toru called Sakura "too good for him," that was basically just a nice way of saying "no." So it was not only Yuki who was quiet about her crush, it's clear Toru also hadn't admitted his crush on Yuki. Sakura got caught in the middle but the outcome would have been the same regardless.
Love isn't transactional. Just because Sakura put herself out there doesn't mean she "deserves"Toru's affections. And anyway Yuki has always been there for Toru, for years. Even in this show Yuki was the one comforting Toru earlier this season and the two are always together. Doesn't that work and effort count too? It's that work and effort that made Toru fall for her probably before he even knew Sakura.
Sakura is lovely but I'm against the "she was nice and gave him things, so she deserves his love," which is something people tend to say and to believe; and that seems largely why they bias against Yuki. They see Sakura make him cookies and have a crush, and they assume those two are automatically an item without noticing how little Toru seems to reciprocate.

Torus crush was Hori so I have no idea how you mental gymnastics that to Toru having a crush on Yuki for so long before ever knowing Sakura.
There no way you could know if Toru would start to like Sakura if he felt comfortable with it as to not sabotage what he thought was a roleplay to "protect" Yuki.
Theres no unfair bias towards one or the other, Yuki lied which is immoral to try and trick Sakura. I do sympathize with Yuki, but pretending like the only reason some people would have preffered Sakura is that she was nice and gave him cookies is so INCREDIBLY dishonest its insane.
@@BenganGamer There's been some time between his crush on Hori and now. The show regularly skips time. Regardless, nothing changes. He did not turn down Sakura to protect Yuki. He turned her down because by this point he has clearly liked Yuki for some time, based on his speech.
Also based on his speech, he figured out that Yuki likes him some time ago and noticed that she's been affected by Sakura's being around him, hence the metaphors he uses. He's very attentive to Yuki's feelings and has shown that in his speech but also throughout the show in subtle and no so subtle ways. He stumbled into a convenient way to turn Sakura down gently, while also taking the opportunity to reassure Yuki and took advantage of that.
I won't touch your last point, with how you presented it. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

He confessed to Hori whom he didnt know of she would reciprocate his feelings but he cant do the same to Yuki who according to you he knows likes him and according to you he has a crush on her? Makes not alot of sense given how he handled Hori.
And yeah he can see that Yuki is bothered by him and Sakura, so he does whats best for Yuki and distances himself from Sakura, thats not something he does because its whats best for him.
@@BenganGamerYuki wasn’t lying directly to Sakura, Hori and Miya told her to lie to the other guy who asked her out (forgot his name), and to pretend to be dating Toru. Toru himself in this episode said he didn’t feel the need to clear up any misunderstandings regarding him and Yuki’s relationships. If he had any romantic interest in Sakura, why would he have no need at all to clear up that misunderstanding? I do think it was somewhat childish that Yuki and Toru both continued on the fake relationship for so long, but neither of them felt like clearing it up, maybe because they both had feelings for each other and were content at that point. Sure, you could argue that may have prevented Toru from getting the chance to take an interest in Sakura, but, at least on screen, the audience received no signs at all that Toru had any romantic interest in Sakura. It was always one sided with Sakura having an interest in Toru. He was just being the same as he always is in his responses whenever Sakura gave him cookies. I think up to this episode and future episodes, while it may be a little unclear whether or not he has feelings for Yuki leading up to this episode, it’s fairly clear that he does have feelings for her by the end of the season.
The thing with Sakura, Yuki and Tooru is hard. That Pres words, always hit hard no matter how many times I heard it, "it hurts because the is noone in the wrong." It is just feelings. Everyone did something whether good or bad for all of them.
Yuki lied about the relationship because she want it to be real but after the lie, she really Regrets it. She hate herself for feeling happy and hatethat Sakura look so hurt.
Sakura confess to someone who is dating. Even if she doesn't want a reply. It is a sign of bravery but that doesn't change the fact that it is someone that she knows in a relationship.
Tooru doesn't feel like correcting Sakura about the fake dating. They are closed and hori and miyamura already know it is a lie, so if he actually have feelings for Sakura, he would have corrected her.
However, he is slowly and starting to fall for Yuki, who is by his side all the time from the moment hori and miyamura get together until now.
i think toru is just play to be nice.. she's take care of his friend first rather than someone outside his circle.
It's sad for Sakura but it does feel like Toru never felt that way about her
Yeah ikr and tbh all of the people who's in sakura side can't accept that toru doesn't have the same feelings for sakura and just being a nice guy whenever sakura gives him cookies. And also just bcs we didn't see much progress on the relationship of yuki and toru in the anime doesn't mean they didn't have some cause if i remembered correctly the anime skipped a few things from the manga or ln can't remember which one it was based but yeah that's all i have to say@@oko7002
I had to learn that you can’t expect someone to like you just because you like them. Sakura likes Toru but he never had any feelings for her even though he knew how special she was when he said “She’s out of my league”. On the other hand he got to spend time with Yuki and even though she never vocalized her feelings he chose her. The show does a good job at depicting real human relationships and emotions
I admire Sakura for her courage but I am biased to Yuki because I have the same personality. I tend to let things go esp if it will complicate things for me and others~
I hate how everyone strips Tooru of his agency just because hurr durr the better girl should get the guy because she “deserves” him. If he liked Sakura he would’ve accepted her confession regardless of if she wanted an answer. He chose not to.
This is probably the hardest episode for pretty much everybody.
- Keep in mind that Toru liked Hori for quite awhile and Yuki knew that. So even though Yuki liked Toru, she knew he liked someone else and therefore, didn't do anything.
- Once Toru was rejected by Hori and Hori & Miyamura got together, Yuki started spending more time with Toru.
- So there was a period of time where it was just Yuki & Toru. But Yuki being Yuki and also, like most romance stories, confessions just take forever to happen.
- Toru is attracted to Yuki. He basically says this (or alludes to) in this episode.
So whether you prefer Yuki or Sakura, or even if you disagree with Yuki's actions and applaud Sakura's actions. It is still up to Toru to choose between the two or even choose neither. I think the mangata's point is clear here -- life is not fair, there isn't a "right" way or "wrong" way to do things so you always get the same results, and sometimes things happen where people get hurt and no one is in the wrong.

Toru likes Yuki.
The sentiment of Toru is the biggest matter, we cannot judge who diserves the most just by who is the kindest
This. For some reason most anime watchers seem to forget what romance is and thinks it's a weighing scale "Well X was nicer and has always been there, gave the so much etc etc" like? Does what the characters feel not matter anymore?? Does every love get reciprocated?
We saw Toru's maturity with how he handled the rejection. I feel like this could go one of two ways with Yuki:
1) She lied to 'get' Toru, and mahbs she realises that that wasn't okay, and lets him go/confesses that the lied and lets the cards fall where they may
2) She takes this and learns to stick up and be more assertive about what she wants.
I think she would show some level of growth with either of these. Good vid guys.
The thing is none of us has the control of who Toru chooses. Yes, Yuki lied and yes, Sakura made a lot of effort. But at the end of it all, it was Toru who made a choice to be with Yuki instead of Sakura. Toru is not stupid or easily manipulated. He is wise and he just followed his heart.
I liked your reaction a lot, some people get really mad and fail to see the bigger picture (i dont blame them tho). Tbh I liked how things turned out even though i cried a lot along with Sakura there. I remember that they're still in high school, they're very young. And then Yuki is very self aware too and even if it was wrong she also was going through it because she kept thinking about how Sakura felt. It hurt every time she said "I'm ugly", "I'm a bad person", etc. What solidified how i felt about the whole thing was the last scene and what prez said. And also I thought about Tooru and his feelings. Imo, it always looked like Sakura liked Tooru, of course, but i don't think Tooru even saw Sakura like that, which made it hurt more for me tbh
Hori and Miyamura's story is a good foundation, but the Sakura-Tōru-Yuki storyline just hooked me. This is truly a love triangle done right. No one is wrong and everyone is just feeling the way they do, and thus, act accordingly. I relate so bad to Yuki, which is probably why I am biased towards her but every character in this arc is just understandable. That's what makes it emotional. In real life, there's villains only sometimes, and this arc shows it. It's my favorite.

honestly, i think Yuki didn't do anything wrong, cause it's not like she's obligated to tell Sakura the truth. Of course, it's still not in good taste, cause she did know that Sakura likes Toruu, and still lied anyways, but it's not particularly wrong.
I think i'm a bit biased towards Yuki though, since i have a similar personality. I love both Yuki and Sakura, and im slowly learning to be more aware and caring towards my own wants and needs like Sakura.Yuki's situation hit me tho, and i could see myself in this kind of situation, even though im trying my best to be aware of my feelings.

- I mean, the whole point is that Toru wasn't interested in Sakura, he felt something about Yuki during the whole lie thing and they were already pretty close. This was just feels, nobody was right or wrong, but Sakura did felt that she already lost to Yuki way before confesing to Toru.
- I don't think this is the same as Hori and Miyamura situation, at least not for Yuki, this is more like Toru became "Horimiya" and he already had his mind on Yuki. So the Toru (Sakura) was the one hurting.
- If we look back, Yuki was always on the sidelines because Toru was always interested in Hori, so there was not a single chance that she would be able to confess her love and then he got his heart broken. I been in the same shoes as Sakura and later on as Yuki, so i can understand both feelings, Sakura and Toru didn't knew each other at the same level that Toru and Yuki knew each other and that's a key factor to loving someone, Sakura felt atraction to him because of his gentle and kind heart, but Toru wasn't even looking at her.
I liked Missing Pieces but it was an absolute travesty that it won the Romance of the Year award over The Dangers in My Heart

Sakura never had a chance with Tooru to begin with. Tooru had already begun to like Yuki, so if Sakura had confessed with the expectation of an answer, he would’ve turned her down. That’s why he said he didn’t see the need to correct her if she thought he was dating Yuki.
Yuki is under the belief that she affected their potential relationship by lying, when Tooru had already made his decision.

Im not mad about yuki ending up with toru but it did hurt to see sakura take such a hit. Bcz everyone thinks sakura deserves the world but sakura doesn't think that for herself as you saw how she thought remi was cuter and prettier and was so grateful that remi made her friend. What sengoku said to her while she was crying did help but it did still hurt.
The thing is, that in the manga it was obvious that Touro was just being friendly/polite with Sakura and he never ever got close to her after Hori rejected him, but he got really close to Yuki before Sakura got feelings for him. So i already knew that he would choose Yuki and not Sakura.😅
14:20 Sakura crying gets to me every time. If only Horimiya had been written in depth enough for like 3, 4 seasons. It's such an INCREDIBLE anime. I mean, even the Post-It Notes looking original webcomic is great, but an anime can truly bring out the tears and laughter and wishes of a story.

Yuki always liked Toru, but she stayed out of the way, because she was aware Toru liked Hori. As soon as he became emotionally available, and moved on from Hori, Sakura comes into a picture. Not justification, but more context for the whole situation.

I think while Yuki lied. Even without that Toru did not like Sakura that way. Toru also used the lie to make it easier to reject her.
16:13 actually wrong, it only seemed that way because hundreds of chapters are condensed into 12 episode anime, but Yuki didn't like Toru more because of the competition, Yuki had always liked Toru, but she values the status quo that they have until Sakura had shaken up that whole environment.

The love triangle between Toru, Yoshikawa and Sakura had me so invested back when I read the manga omg. I thought I was supporting both of them equally until we got to who actually won. That's when I realized I was subconsciously rooting for Sakura more. Still makes me a lil sad. I like Yuki and the Yuki x Tohru couple, but man. I really wanted to see Sakura happy.
for me there is no right or wrong choice with who you want to team toru up, i think they're both cute/nice girls.
but i do want to say i did like the way they went in the anime so that yuki did for once get what she wanted

i get what you are saying, but i disagree with the "ideal word" part. yes, we love Sakura and she being seen as an "ugly girl" make us endearing to her, but that doesnt make her objetively better to be with Toru, even if he like her back. actually Yuki and Toru had more time to develope an actual relationship, and even if i like Sakura and Toru interactions, i fell him and Yuki have more chemistry, sure is a friendship chemestry but to me the fact that they are closer make the romactic fellings more real. againg in not against a Sakura and Toru relationship or im defending with my life Yuki x Toru, im just saying that we are bias by the fact that we discover Sakuras feelings first and we know her struggles but we just take for granted that Yuki have a lot more time to develop an actual conection to Toru

well i think i am towards sakura's side , i mean yuki liked toru forever , but like come on u have been buddies like forever , and u don't really ever tried to ask him out , meanwhile sakura was like the hard worker here , she done everything possible for her , even confessed to him while she THOUGHT that he had a relationship at the same time so yeah , also yuki could had a good chance with the red head kid but she prefered to lie even to that guy ... she could just had turned him down , so yeah idk
The thing is, there aren't really any sides here. Even if yuki didn't lie like that, the situation wouldn't have really changed. Toru never showed any feelings for Sakura and the end result would be the same.

I feel like you guys are putting way too much blame on Yuki. Yuki and Toru were in a relationship. They're both just super awkward, so instead of confronting it and just coming out and saying that they didn't want it to just be pretend, they kept "pretending". The fake relationship wasn't even Yuki's idea, it was Hori and Miyamura's doing, and Toru agreed without a moment of hesitation. And let's not forget that Toru "didn't think he needed to" set the record straight when Sakura mentioned it and confessed to him.
When comparing this love triangle to the one with Hori, Myamura, and Toru, it's interesting that you would make Yuki out to be the Toru of the situation when Sakura was more like Toru was than even Toru himself. At least when Toru confessed to Hori, he wasn't under the impression that she and Miyamura were already dating.
