  • In this video, I’m sharing a watercolor technique for painting leaves using any tipped brush. The brush I’m using here isn’t typically chosen for watercolor loose leaves, but this demonstration shows that it’s all about the pressure and movement of your wrist.
To achieve beautiful, loose leaves, focus on the following:
    1. **Pressure Control**: Varying the pressure on your brush creates different stroke widths. Light pressure results in thin, delicate lines, while applying more pressure produces broader, fuller strokes.
    2. **Wrist Movement**: The fluidity of your wrist movement is key. Gentle, sweeping motions will create natural, flowing leaf shapes. Practice moving your wrist in different directions to create variety in your leaves.
    3. **Brush Angle**: Experiment with the angle of your brush. Holding it more vertically can give you finer details, while a more horizontal angle allows for broader, softer strokes.
    4. **Layering**: Allow each layer of paint to dry slightly before adding another. This creates depth and dimension in your leaves.
By mastering these techniques, you can create beautiful, expressive leaves with any tipped brush. It’s a wonderful reminder that sometimes unconventional tools can yield stunning results when paired with the right techniques.
Happy painting, and don’t be afraid to experiment with your brushes and techniques! 🌿
