Painting Serenity: Earthy Tones and Natural Strokes Using Watercolor
Просмотров 90Месяц назад
I’m excited to share my latest watercolor piece, where I used earthy tones and different shades of browns and greens to create a sense of balance and tranquility. I let the brush strokes flow naturally, expressing my vision of calm and harmony. I especially love how the leaves emerged from the strokes, capturing my eye and bringing my vision to life. This piece truly reflects my connection to n...

In this video, I’m sharing a watercolor technique for painting leaves using any tipped brush. The brush I’m using here isn’t typically chosen for watercolor loose leaves, but this demonstration shows that it’s all about the pressure and movement of your wrist. To achieve beautiful, loose leaves, focus on the following: 1. Pressure Control : Varying the pressure on your brush creates different s...

This was beautiful, 🌹Thanks for sharing
Thank you 🩷
Just came across your channel and love your approach about colors and just use something similar. I think when someone is new to watercolor painting, they worry too much about whether or not they have the correct color instead of using what they have. Thank you for an inspirational session. 🥰🎨
Thank you so much 🙏🩷
Thank you very much for taking time and allowing us your beautiful technique! Im so happy you replied! I keep practicing . 🥰
You’re welcome! 🥰
Your flowers look muddy and overworked-maybe as Jesus for some help.
Thank you for your feedback. 🙂

Just saw this…please read my last comment first. Chinese Brushes: MOST brushes on A are NOT “made in China”, hence, not covered by the intangible cultural heritage act: which over-sees the tradional brush makers in China to assure they stick to old historic standards…which includes no animals being harmed. Making brushes has been a reciprocal practice between the artists and farms, ranchers, animal carers. The ONLY critter harmed in trading brush making are the rats in the cities who are trapped, euthanized and hair and whiskers are taken for brushes whilst the rest of the animals become carnivore food, again, for animal carers or sometimes in protected areas. Sorry..this is important to me after my late son spent 3 days with a brush maker in Guangzhou. I have several goat hair brushes-from spring shearing, and my favorite, my horsehair brush, from the artists pony and HIS spring trim. I can recommend sellers here in the US including one on A, Easyou-who DO sell a horsehair brush. I have a few of their other brushes and they’re great! But, most of my brushes and other supplies came from Henry Li, Blue Heron Arts and Sumiestore. There’s some other big ones, but…unfortunately, I’ll keep my mouth shut. Just research the sources if you’re going to get REAL traditional Chinese art supplies. Also, another one of my past teachers, the brave, beautiful Fiona (a Chinese artist based in Brussels who has been going through a fight for her life this past year). Fiona has a fantastic blog that she tells art-related historical or even mythological stories as well as some techniques you can learn. You have goat 羊 yáng, mix brushes. One of the fun techniques we practice with these brushes (actually, I do this technique even with my horse brush, but the goat/sheep mix brushes hold more paint. Loading the brush with up to 4 colors. This is particularly used in floral paintings, more common in xieyi (freestyle) techniques, BUT, we sometimes use it in Gongbi (detailed) paintings. It usually goes darker paint is closer to the shaft/bamboo, progressively lighter, with white frequently used on the tip. I’m sure Henry and others have some videos on the technique. When I use it on my xuan with my Chinese paint chips-I get a very similar effect as this. We are usually unable to “lift” colors..and wet-on-wet, I’ve never seen it done and when I attempted it a few years ago for my first large wash (night sky). I tore 3 holes in the paper. 😂🤷🏼♀️. That’s ok, it was very high quality xuan, so I was able to patch it with scraps from that roll. (Advantage when using handmade paper. I also have peach sap gum and mingjiao (fish glue-made from “recycled” fish bones). You can get these from Henry too…they are basically binders that may or may not be in your paints, paint chips or vials of pigment. I use them in what I call my “brush water technique” with western paints to adapt them for use on xuan. I also mull some of my own paints-for both mediums. I also keep some alum handy. Fiona has a blog article she wrote mainly for me about using alum to size and/or strengthen xuan papers, or paper that’s technically watercolor paper-it is NOT watercolor medium or like a gesso-the alum just slows the absorption and strengthens the paper….😂 or if you’re a legally blind retired healthcare professional? I can use the alum and mingjiao to patch the holes I make in my xuan. 🤷🏼♀️😉
Why not "She"?
What do you mean?
And why not “He”?

Nice work! I'm glad you explained how with painting intuitively, there's no way to really replicate someone's painting...only to use and understand their technique and try it themselves. 😊
Thank you so much! Yes, exactly! It's all about embracing your own unique style and using techniques as a guide to explore your creativity. I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful! 😊
Nice artistic touch.
Thank you ❤
Can you give a longer tutorial on this technique? I think it’s awesome and I’ve practiced several times and can’t get it right.
Ok I will be getting back into making more videos this summer! Ty for your feedback!
@@ximeartisticbynature that would be fantastic, I’m looking forward to it , thank you🥰🙏🏻
@@ximeartisticbynature I Triple this suggestion! Without writing an autobiography; my late son got me back into creating aboutv7-8 yrs ago. He was working in and traveling through China, connected me with his friend’s grandmother..hence began my journey into Chinese calligraphy and traditional brush painting. For some reason, I have no problem doing this transparent layer look with my antique Chinese paint chips, ink, my brushes that my son witnessed them being made..AND, of course, my xuan paper. I’ve done my peonies like this on both sized xuan in a more Gongbi style, (think hot press, except sized xuan like my cicada wing and glass papers-they are extremely thin and delicate..but the ink and paints don’t absorb into the paper as much and as fast with sized xuan. Unsized, or “raw” paper , is mainly for doing xieyi, or “freestyle”, and if you use the MUCH thinker double xuan, unsized, it’s similar to western cold press..but there are still major differences in both the materials and techniques. All that said, I have several very similar paintings on my xuan papers…but try after try, I’m just unable to do the same technique on western papers with western materials and techniques. I’m either getting hard edges where I don’t want them, blooms (that I TRY and use to my advantage), it just doesn’t look right. I have good cotton paper, professional paints…although I DO use my Chinese brushes most of the time-I’m just used to them. Would love to see a longer, detailed video! Thank you!
@@elaineg60 I just did a similar piece not too long ago. I posted a long step by step tutorial on this. Check it out and let me know what you think. 🙂
