Very timely. Appreciate the step by step explanation and not telling people to use docker or snap. Much easier to see what is happening under the hood and troubleshoot. Great video, keep em coming!
Clear and precise. Great work Jay! I own a copy of your book "Mastering Ubuntu Server 2nd edition" and it helps make my server setup flawless. Keep up the good work and thanks.
Thank you Jay! I've been trying all summer to get nextcloud installed. I should have started with watching your video. It's great! I also ordered your new book. It arrives from Amazon tomorrow. I'm looking forward to learning more.
Thanks Jay, I used your tutorial to install onto an LXC on my home server, took some time to iron out a few security issues but now get A+ from the nexcloud security check. I have been working flawsly now for a couple of weeks and going through sorting out which of the nextcloud apps are useful. Thanks again great tutorial (as always)
First of all, great video, I find it is quite the improvement over your previous one!! I just Re-installed my nextcloud instance two weeks ago with your old tutorial. It took me a while to get the correct cache setup. While you include setting up Cache in this tutorial, what about a video that explains the difference between the different options. I, for example, followed the advice that I could find on the Internet and used both redis and APCu. I don't really know why that is supposedly the superior setup, and I don't really understand much of the technical details of the Cache. I think a well researched explanation by you would help a lot of people. (it is one of the only topics that I don't really find intuitive to understand, compared to the rest of nextcloud which is super simple and straightforward)
HUGE thank you. Excellent tutor. Me? So so student. 1) Had a hard time not registering, but CONFIGURING my Domain and setting up/LINKING RECORD A and registration between the domain manager and Linode. 2) Missed your KEYword about hitting CTL to get out of MariaDB...so was stuck inside Maria for a while 3) LOVED the fact you warned us BEFORE you pressed ENTER...so I could pause the video and double check my typing/syntax. You've hooked me. I will NEED to get your book to make sure I keep my Next Cloud up and running and keep you up and running. Took all day to set this up today...and I'm now officially BEAT. Need some rest. Thank you again.
Hi Jay, I’ve bought your new book. It‘s available as Paperback here in Germany as well. The Book is amazing! It‘s my favourite Linux-Book (and I have plenty of them)
After watching most of your guides ans videos I realized that sometimes I just watch your stuff To bask in The absurd amount of wholesomeness that radiates from your Being. When open source AI Smart devices become a thing I know who's voice I'm gonna use. 😅
Even though I set up my Nextcloud with a couple of clicks thanks to YunoHost, I've always wanted to know how to do it manually as well. Now I do. Thanks a lot !
Spot on Jay! You are my new Sensei. I was having a little trouble with cert-bot, but once I got my DNS entries correct and/or ports 80 & 443 open, the problem corrected. I also had to add a trusted domain in config.php for NextCloud to fire up. Don't know if this was caused by my initial problem or that I was self-hosting. Guess I'll have to re-spin it and find out. THANKS!
Great guide, nos I'm subscribed to this channel, As a positive feedback i want to piont that in the Wiki Guide in the section 'Create an SSL certificate" the fisrt line of code is different than what you used in your code, im just pointing this because it caused error in my installation, then i just used what you typed in your screen and it worked, im really satisfied with this tutorial!!!
Hi Jay thanks for the very detailed and not to fast not to slow delivery of your video presentation. I only have one problem. I was good all the way to the end until I got to the (Settings) and received Internal Server Error.

To fix the Strict-Transport-Security issue, I had to add the following parameter into my Nextcloud's virtualhost: Header always add Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=15768000; includeSubDomains; preload" Thanks a lot for this video.
Great video, I'm running my self hosted nextcloud for two years now, but it's awesome to see a tutorial from beginning till the tls. Maybe an idea for a nextcloud video would be to show how to move all the data and databases from one server to another and some backup options. Great work

Great video, many thanks! Question on external local drives...I'm having trouble adding external drives to my raspberry pi install of netcloud. I keep getting a 'stop' sign. Any tips on properly adding local drives?
Impressive video! Thanks for taking the time to create it. Only question I have is how do you easily renew the SSL certificate? Looks like it's only good for 90 days, is there a way to auto-script a renewal?
This is great! Question: My previous cloud storage I ran, OwnCloud, I used an 8TB block device from one of my drive racks via iSCSI - is this something I can do with NextCloud?
I set up nextcloud as an lxc turnkey container and had nothing but errors and bugs. I decided to start over with this ubuntu vm server method on my proxmox hypervisor and and not only did I learn where all the right config stuff is but I also have a working nextcloud instance.
Great video thank you. But one question, how can i connect this to Active directory and make my users to log in with domain account ? Becouse i use with configuration you show and i have an error: The LDAP library is not available ((
I love your shows and this one is no exception, however the issue I have is trying to change the data location, I have not been able to get this done successfully despite all of the online help...
Hi thanks for this video . Now after installation I want to connect oneFS storage for data storage. Please help. Can I use mount folder for storage? If yes , how can? Or can directly connect to oneFS storage with use external storage options.
If you leave the nextcloud NAS okd PC laptop or desktop or Raspberry Pi 3B+ or 4 ... Hi Jay! Thank you very much for this tutorial. I have established a nextcloud ecosystem on my home file-server and it runs nice, using my ip address. I want to buy a domain name. After I buy it, should I follow all steps from the beginning, or is there a way to just shift to a domain name from my ip address easily?

And what about other directories/files? I'm maybe too paranoid, but you know, web server is the door into server...
Is it possible to install nextcloud and still use the pi as a Desktop/use it for other projects at the same time? For example host a discord bot and nextcloud on the pi?
