Pop!_OS user here, thanks for the video!
My pleasure, it was a fun video to work on.
@Flynn Hank yea no one cares
Totally agree with you! Have being a MINT user couple of years!
Installed PoP 2 month ago, and am really amazed!
Highly recommended.
Superb timing. I recently moved a family member to PopOS and she's struggling with GNOME - this video has helped so much!
I recently installed Pop-OS on a Lenovo laptop. I'm very happy with it.
Awesome!
which lenovo laptop?
Of course I upgraded to SSD storage.
Hey thanks for the guide!
A little recommendation: If you start your timestamps with 0:00 or 0:00:00, video player will show it on its timeline, which will make it a lot easier for users to navigate :)

Thanks bud
you probably dont give a shit but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.

Your new icon & everything is so professional looking! Great job Jay!
Thanks so much!
Fantastic video. Thank you very much. Extremely helpful. I have been using Pop!_OS and Linux for a week and a half. I'm an old time Microsoft user. The video is well organized and well presented. It was easy to understand and follow. A link to your video should be included in the distribution IMO.
First time viewer and now subscriber. Thank you very much for this tutorial. I’ve been sitting on the fence about changing from windows to Linux and I was not sure which distro to use. Thanks to you I’ve completely changed to pop os and giving Linux a real chance now. Hopefully I’m here to stay
How you liking it?
Just switched from Ubuntu 20.04lts to PopOS 20.04lts and I love it. Thanks for the video learnt a few new things with shortcuts etc.
Thank you for another great video Jay. I use POP!_OS on all 7 of my computers. One is setup as a media server running Jellyfin.
I wish you'd spend some time explaining the whole bootloader/bios stuff. That's probably the most confusing step to a lot of people. If you're coming from Windows or Mac, chances are you're not gonna know what that even is. And I also wish you'd go over installing Lutris, because that's not in the Pop Shop. You actually have to add the repository. That'd be a great opportunity for you to explain what repos and ppas are about. But other than that, a pretty solid and complete guide. Great job.
I have used Pop!_OS on my System76 computer since it was first available and I still learned several things I did not know. Thanks for the great content.
Thanks so much for this video. I had my hesitations when looking into a System76 laptop (as a Mac user), but you’ve now removed that hesitation. Thanks again!
Hey Jay! Thanks for this video. I've been working on convincing a friend to migrate his workflow to Linux (and, because of your channel, PopOS specifically) and this very friendly tutorial will help a great deal.
Popos is buggy. It really depends on your system
If he's a Windows user don't recommend him anything with different interface, because you may make him hate Linux. Show him Linux Mint (or anything else with Windows-like interface) and encourage him to tweak it for his own needs.
Wow. I am a Windows user, and I am going to give this a shot. The presenter (Jay?) provided a very-easy-to follow introduction. All I want is to be able to check email, browse the net, run simple office applications, and run some windows software ... This Pop OS covers. I will watch the video over. Then my last thing is to be able to install wine so that I can do simple computations using Fortran 77. Thank you, Jay.
Just started using pop! Love it. Thanks
I installed pop_os today and it's really good, thank you
I installed POP!_OS 20.10 on my T450s and it works like a charm. Even installed KDE PLASMA on it...UBUNTU done right...✅
Great video! Ubuntu user here, Pop Os is a great distro, brings features that Ubuntu and other distros should bring and has a lot of future to show.
In one word, such a lovely distro!
We need to be able to hit like multiple times. I have tried so many distros and I always come back to Pop! OS. Thanks Jay
You're welcome!
very happy pop os install in my laptop window 10 out of service after 18 months
Thanks for the series. Really Enjoying it!
Nice video! I am planning on building my own computer this year and am considering Pop!_OS for my Operating System. This guide was very helpful! I jotted down all the info so that I'm ready to go when I build my computer!
I hope your day goes well!
Thank you very much, waiting for the pop os guide from many months, got a perfect tutorial...
Glad it helped!
Thanks for this video, I am new and just loaded pop_os 20.10
Thx for ur work. I use PoP OS for a few weeks on my Backup PC and I have to say, it works great
Thank you for this video. I did not understand PopOS until I saw this.
Thank you sir, badly need this. I just started my work and they are using Pop OS.
That was an awesome review. I think pop!os will be my next distro!
with time this video gonna get lots of views
Possibly. I'm not sure if one-shot (longer) videos, or multi-part videos are better or preferred. I guess we'll see :)
@@LearnLinuxTV i personally like one shot videos , because i don't want the lecture introduce himself 10 times or tell what he did in previous video
@@aram7017 totally agreed.
@@aram7017 agreed
I did watched the whole video, however not in one sitting. Don't mind the longer videos as long as it has timeline markers. Longer videos makes it easy when searching for a particular subject
Thanks a lot for the video, I was using Windows since v3.11 I believe, but now I'm considering switching to pop!, just because I've never used Linux and this video only showed me it's a good idea to give it a try. Cheers!
Excellent video Joe! I know there are a lot of gnome haters out there me being one of them but what I have found is that spending time with in this case popos, I slowly realized what a great distro this is regarding my workflow and the way it uses workspaces. Excellent! One thing I don't like is that the files file manager does not display how many files, folders there are. Pcmanfm at the bottom of the window will show the user information like this. Am I missing something here?
Thanks again Joe! Really appreciate you doing this video!😀
New intro looks cool man.
Thank you :)
Again nice new intro! Love Pop_OS! Thanks for the video!
Thank you, Jay.
great video, very informative, keep making them. thanks
w00000000w!!!
the audio quality (headphones ) i'm getting on pop os is on par with my macbook pro!
the bass is present unlike windows 10 where the audio (headphones) was shit.
this is awesome :D
tyvm for the video!
Win10 default device drivers are crap.
That is why it is necessary to install:
-Chipset Drivers (for AMD CPUs)
-Graphics Drivers
-Audio Drivers
-Wifi, Bluetooth and LAN Drivers
Most people install no drivers at all or just the GPU Driver if they got a gaming PC.
So they get poor performance and weird issues of the other system components all the time.
On Linux you don't have to install all those drivers 90% of the time since most Distros have pretty good driver packages.
@@alouisschafer7212 oh i never knew that lol
Pop_OS is really nice. I even like the Gnome desktop and I would love to use it...BUT the Gnome extensions are 90% broken and I can get only a good workflow in Gnome with extensions. This is the reason why I stay on (or always come back to) Mint cinnamon because it's stable and usable out of the box!
Great video! I've been a fan of what System76 has been doing for a while now. Easily the best "out of the box" distro around. Sending this to anyone interested in using Linux for the first time.
Nah, imo Mint deserves that title.
Your vids are always so creative. Love you ❤
love ubuntu, love POP OS
Can't wait to switch to Pop!_OS in March. This will be super useful at that time.
"Dash to Dock" is good but I prefer "Dash to Panel" for having all docks on the same line. Thanks for your complete video on my prefer Linux Distro!
First, congratulations on the channel, I follow you from the beginning, you are a crack, I adore Pop OS, keep up the good work
a greeting from Spain
Thank you!
WOW this Pop is looks awesome 😎!!! Thanks Linux-J
Thank you. This should make things much easier.
Came to this video expecting just another Ubuntu derivative, but pleasantly surprised to see that there are lots of nice little refinements here.
Thank you for the excellent instruction. I love specially the full guide to SSH. Keep doing the videos in clear manner and easy to understand, alongside with the explanation. Can you provide a full guide from simple to advanced regarding on how to configure a Secure open VPN Server and how to harden the VPN Server. ( also including latest security algorithms)
Not a bad idea, I'll see if I can fit it into the schedule. Thanks!
I was also notice there are few sites explaining how to configure vsftpd. Most of them are incomplete. It will be good if in the future you can add a complete Guide of how to configure vsftpd, including locking the ftp users only to specific folders and with no users accounts on the system. Just allow the setup users to access their folders and restricting access to ssh on the system. ( just only access for sftp).
I have a meerkat Ubuntu and the share option has allow remote yes or no..
But my darterpro has Popos and it did not even have option for setting/share for remote, just screen and media. I used putty from my Windows HP machine to remote in to the meerkat, and wanted to remote in to my DarterPro.
The kind tech help at sys76 told me ssh server is not installed, and I just entered these two lines and now works great.
sudo apt install openssh-server
sudo ufw allow ssh
Thanks Jay, very informative video, got me heading in the right direction. Cheers!
I love Pop OS. Thank you for the great video.
Great video and fully comprehensible.
Thank you very much for this video Jay !
Thanks and Happy New Year!
UnetBootin is a decent option on windows as well for making your install media
Maybe I will choose Pop os like my main system. Thanks for guide!
Just dual booted with this, so this is really useful thanks
On install, does it give the option to dual boot?
I have never written in a comments section that a video was excellent. So, this is my first comment: EXCELLENT!! I do have one question with a coupe of parts. I have several external hard drives I store data ont. How do I connect them to POP? Also, is there an app similar to DVD FAB? Thank you!
Nice work. Loved your efforts. Thank you.
Thanks a lot for the guide, subscribing
Very well explained. Thanks. I would go for dash to panel extension. You can pin everything on it.
Awsome guide! Thanks :-)
oh yes, the initiation process loves this lol.
Can you recommend the most stable Linux os please for a new user to Linux??
This is very much useful
Thank you
I loved it
Thanks Jay!
THANK YOU SIR I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBED TO BE ABLE TO FINNALY SWITCH FROMWINDWOS TO LINUX MINT OR POP OS
Hello, happy new year!!
Brilliant vid thanks so much!
You are very good. Thanks for the video.
I'm using Pop_Os for almost a year now, I do love it.
Never am I going back to microsoft as main OS
(just for a program if I can't find alternatives)
Thanks for showing. :D
I've used Linux for 4 years now. Why the hell am I watching this?
Because there's a difference between using, and being an admin that can speak both terminal talk as well as English
Make tutorial for dual boot PopOS and Windows. Need to see how to setup partitions for PopOS. Thanks! :)
thank you very much. I like your videos. Keep doing.
Thank you!!!!!
I think pop is your favorite distro
It definitely is.
@@LearnLinuxTV yeah it will become mine too
nice job!!
thanks
Very nice video! If you are using Pop OS on your production machine would you recommend those non-lts releases and have you ever upgraded to a newer release on your production machine? (Or fresh install every time?)
Normally, I recommend sticking with LTS. I use the intermediary releases, but the only reason is because given that I have a RUclips channel, I feel I should be running the latest always to ensure I'm not missing anything, and it makes it easier to teach things if I'm already using it. I haven't run into any problems with running non-LTS, but I don't feel I'm benefiting much by running bleeding edge stuff either.
This was fantastic - going to try Pop on my Thinkpad later on today!
What if I buy a new nvidia graphics card after installing the regular version of pop os I can still download and install nvidia drivers right?
thanks for the help :)
Sweeeettt thanks!
Do you know how to set the light theme in LibreOffice even though PopOS looks dark ? I like LibreOffice when PopOS has a light appearance.
Hi, Can you advise on how to dual boot Pop_os! 20.10 with MacOS Big Sur on a 2017 Macbook Pro, safely? I prefer to use linux for daily usage, however I need to retain access to Mac for some specific softwares.
I am curious how many resources big sur use
Thanks for the time codes, have it installed just want to know more about Gnome, installing and Aps. THANKS !
I was wondering im still on the demo mode portion and that im doing everything on my external HDD since the one in my pc broke down. Do i need to get another HDD or SSD to continue? since when i go into clean install its not their and when i go to custom and see the partitions i see me external HDD. So do i just need to buy another SSD or HDD to be able to continue.
I have a problem with my Pop_OS! installation. It's not as smooth as it should be, there are three flatpack updates that won't install (I tried terminal and Pop Shop) and my hybrid GPU won't work (Intel HD 5500 & Radeon R7 M260X. Do you have any workable solutions to those?
I have a 2017 MacBook Pro that’s needs a battery replacement. Would it be better to replace the battery with macOS before installing Pop or does Pop have battery management and calibration software to make sure the battery life isn’t bad?
sir can i ask something? why when i press write at the usbimager it says access is denied, an error occurred while writing to the target device. please answer sir i want to install pop os
Good video :) Thanks!
Phenomenal video. I like PopOS but Linux Mint Cinnamon is the one I always go back to. I know you have the Lemur Pro, do all the System76 drivers come over easily to other distributions? I didn't want to nuke PopOS and lose functionality.
I haven't had a chance to try Mint on the Lemur yet. I may look into that when I get caught up.
@LearnLInuxTV i installed pop!_os (20.04 LTS) and my bluetooth is not recognised...Is there any way to fix those issue...it's reccomeding me to use a dongle....I tried various command lines but it didn't work....could you please help me :)
Liked before watching :D
I installed Pop os but it was slow and looked like the graphic cards were not installed though the system recognized them and the hybrid mode could work! there was a problem with frame rate and there was a glitch time to time on some parts of the display! the fan was also working all the time so it felt like the graphic cards are not installed properly. What should I do?? Thank you.
p.s. I have a laptop with two graphic cards, one Intel and an Nvidia
What if I have forward slash on top of a number key in my keyboard? Where can I see the shortcuts key combination? Can I customize that?
Can Pop OS run lasers and 3d printers?. Great site keep it up.
