Thanks Aaron, So what is the purpose of the instance name? is it just for further identification of identical components or did the developers have something else in mind for it?
instance usually used on making dynamic components, or listing component in generate component to create schedules, or to separate the same component but have different orientation/location/etc (e.g. the same windows component but on different floor). This video is not complete explanation about instance, Aaron should give practical use example. On my training, it takes about 20 minutes to explain about instances.
Groups can be assigned instance names as well. Best way to identify them when converted to Twinmotion. Haven't tried it yet, but I think you can export instance names (or filter by) when using the takeoff features. Also, no automatic numbering since it is an alphanumeric field. I believe instance names were added as a feature for controlling dynamic components. Say pickets in a fence, every 5th picket is 6" higher. You can add the math to your code.
Certainty appreciated. "I think I already knew this" became "I know this".
thank you aaron , this videos very helpfull for begginers.

@@agdragon1 @RLP thanks for the replies
@@neosiagroup Thanks for the explanation. Windows on different floors was a really good example to clarify the instances.
