Thanks for another great game upload. It is a profoundly bitter-sweet experience every time I see Lawrence Phillips. To know what highs (two national championships and a Heisman candidate) and lows were ahead for him. Such a sad story. RIP Lawrence ("Long Play") Phillips--may you have finally found peace from your inner demons.
Yeah, Lawrence Phillips was a rare 5-star recruit that Nebraska landed way back then. And if memory serves me well, he was a late recruit well after signing day. And my alma mater (Georgia) had the same success when we landed a 5 star, Parade Magazine recruit well after February signing day in the form of Tim Worley. How these two gems remained under the radar during their recruiting processes is beyond me. I just remember my brother shouting remarks of joy in the month of July of 1985 over the signing of Tim Worley (Herschel Walker's true replacement). That revelation was just as stunning as when NU signed Phillips late. These great events happen in our lives, and we remember them for years to come. I love both Nebraska and Georgia---as I sort of adopted NU when I was in 8th grade...all those years ago. Lawrence was awesome.
I remember people screaming for Charlie McBride and George Darlington's heads after this game. Easy win, but KState moved the ball lot in this game. Goes to show how much the Blackshirts grew the following year. Held them to 7. Barron Miles was excellent!
Great video, but what happened to the final 7 minutes of the 3rd quarter and first plays of the fourth? Missed Trev Albert's record tying sack. Oh well. Thanks for the video.
@rappmasterdugg6825 He's just a grown man doing what he thinks is best for himself. Nothing wrong with that. He has given much to Nebraska. Wish him well and move on.
Interesting game in retrospect. Nebraska actually wasn’t a great team yet, and really wasn’t a title caliber team till the next year despite playing for it in1993. Defense was actually pretty great despite mays performance. Crowd pathetic in first half. All in all, a good KSU team that could have won- and the best attempt the Cats would give in Lincoln till 2003
"a good KSU team that could have won" You are commenting on a game 25 years ago. Surely you are aware of Synders dismal record against top 10 teams (5-36) when he retired in 2018. Looking back, there was slim chance in hell he was gonna win this game.
WRONG!!! They were messed around by the refs bias to get Bowden a title. Floyd's TD was not a TD and the PR TD did not have an illegal block. They lost n a bad kick despite all that. NU that lost to FSU should have won.
@@Rcknroler913 Yes, rob is an idiot extraordinaire, the guy is nothing more than a 30 IQ dolt who doesn't even have a team, just a bandwagon jumper. No doubt LSU was his team last year.

Forced timeout for crowd noise is insane!! GBR!

and in 2020, Nebraska remains a sad bottom-dweller in the Big10 ... a conference that sees them as an embarrassment. Weird
