Great bike ride with friends! Loved the scenery and the
narration. Also liked the comment about “more hill”. Where I live and ride there are always hills and downhills. One of my ridding buddies told me for every good downhill, there are two uphills.

Two uphills for every downhill… That’s an equation I can relate too! 😂
Really appreciate the kind words too. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 👌🏻🌟

That looked a lot of fun! It's was rth pointing out that routes are generally chosen to share some of the beauty of the area and quieter roads are used where possible. A 100km is a good place to start (there are 50kms as well which are good for getting to know how Audaxes work). As you said at the end, there is an earliest and latest time to get to checkpoints and this is to control speeds so as to deter racing on public roads. The "code" can looking daunting but readers should be reassured that a .gpx file is made available too. Don't forget your pen for the brevet card😁 and always thank the completely unpaid organisers without whom...👍. Looking forward to seeing more of your Audax adventures!

Thanks again, yeh this was a great day out with good friends and being able to take in some new scenery was the icing on the cake. Definitely looking forward to taking part in some more Audax rides and seeing everyone's footage of PBP this year has made me determined to get fit enough to qualify for and complete it in 2027!

    Another great ride Peter 👍
I haven’t done an Audax in a few years I’d forgotten how much fun they can be.

Cheers as ever Paddy. Yeh, I was really surprised how much fun it was. I honestly expected a day of all out speed but the leisurely pace was a definite welcome change!

Haha loved the video. Have to agree about the Bletchley Park derived directions😂, thank heavens to Wahoo GPX files and Komoot.😊 Don't know how I'd cope the traditional way, I think I'd still be out there. 🤣

Cheers Nige, really glad you enjoyed the video and really appreciate you taking the time to comment too.
But yeh, the instructions certainly took some getting used to and thankfully did need the enigma breaker to decipher them ultimately! 😂. I can neither confirm nor deny if we had a little electronic help along the way though! 😉

My chain came off at over 70kph on my first ever Audax as well. I was frantically trying to shift it back on while also not wanting to slow down or stop because who wants to waste a good downhill?

    • @petertreadway
      @petertreadway  4 дня назад +1

Wow! You're lucky it didn't get sucked up in to the derailleur at that speed! You're right about not wanting to waste speed though! 🤣

Riding to the ride 💪So a treasure hunt on a bike 👍 Nice!
Yes the wildlife, you don't see that while you're sweating into your stem 😂
    Not riding home again 👎😂

The slower pace (at the start of the day) was a welcome break to the usual ‘balls out’ rides we do! 😂
Would have been good to ride home again but #Dadlife! 😂

Tom did mention that and I’d absolutely love to but Dad duties are the priority currently!
I can definitely see Audax becoming a regular occurrence when they’ve flown the coop though. 👌🏻
