- Tent camping in the heavy rain with tarp and campfire. A very wet hike in with relentless heavy rain made for a challenging camp. We managed to make a cozy camp fire to warm up and cook our delicious burgers. I hope you enjoy our video and please subscribe for more if you enjoy :)

It’s chucking it down with rain here in the south this morning , so I settled down with this video and it’s very atmospheric.

@@AbelandVictoria Here in the UK the gale force rain comes in at 45 degree's. We have to have sides to the tarp down to the ground for protection. I tried putting the tent up once wearing an army poncho with hood and I stayed completely dry. It was a flaf put worked

You put that tarp up like a pro! A good tarp over the tent when it's raining makes all the difference. One thing I've used to beat the cold is "body warmers" which are like big "hand warmers" that stick to the outside of your thermals. Works a treat :)
I’m getting better at it. Definitely wasn’t this easy the first time I set it up lol. Body warmer sounds heavy. What do they weigh?

Abel, I loved the look on your face when you discovered your kaleidoscope of colors in the tent. Couple of strong beers and the lights. All you needed was some techno music. Great hearing the bird song in the morning.
Lol that light is pretty cool. Yeah there is always great bird life in that spot and the mic I use does a great job at capturing the audio

I have to give you kudos for camping in that weather because it looked miserable. Probably worth it for those pancakes!

Paradise! Another amazing camp-site and camp fire, those burgers looked amazing but I think the Banana pancakes are the clear winner of the trip. Love your videos.

Aaah yes, that deflating feeling when your airbed goes flat in the night. Can you post where the leak is in your airmat, & if its fixable. maybe do a video of you trying to fix it. I've got 2 different, expensive, name brand mats that have developed leaks where the valve is inserted into the mat so am interested in what others do to effect a repair. Love your videos . Hmm not a nice feeling. I just had the pad in the bath and located a small leak near the middle of the pad. I have a repair kit that came with the pad so I’ll follow the instructions. The pad is an sea to summit ether light xt

You should get a grant from the NZ tourist board because these videos make me want to travel there. You always have interesting meals that are nicely paired with alcohol.
Lol the government agency that looks after our public land actually tried to stop me from making videos like this and threatened me with large fines. This is the state of New Zealand…. Sad. I won’t stop
@@AbelandVictoria I live in Kentucky in the US and they try this crazy stuff sometimes as well. Glad you're still putting out quality content. Do you have a Patreon site or some other way to support your adventures? I don't believe in free meals.
@@juliannuss123 yeah I have seen that other you-tubers in USA have been having some issue. We will always be trying to make better vids we are really enjoying it. I turned super thanks on the videos. Dont feel like you need to give anything just watching is enough but any support would be greatly appreciated. As you can imagine all thats involved with making these videos gets costly but totally worth it to us.
You need to take a small flask of spirits, rum ,scotch , brandy ,plus those beers to help keep that cold at bay 😂 burgers looked great !!

Also I am looking at buying a tarp for my setup this year, dont really need a UL one but what are the dimensions of the one you use please? A lot of specific ones I've seen on youtube are not available in the UK?
Hey this was a hard camp at times lol. The tarp is 3x3 which is pretty much perfect I think. It from a company call Alton I think they are Australian.

Just got finished up watching bits at a time it did look tough but also fun camping in the rain I am trying to convince my girlfriend that if we camp in the rain with a tarp like you guys we would be fine haha!

Love your channel. Is there any chance you can do a video or explain how your guy ropes work for the tarp? It looks a great solution and I've had enough of tying knots all the time! It looks like some kind of karabiner/tensioner combo? Thanks, Tom.
Maybe I’ll show and explain next time I set the tarp up. It’s just simple line lock and carabiner attached to 2.5meter or so of guyline

Yeah little one. I have a cage on the camera and attach the dji mic receiver thing and umbrella. I will get a little light on there also I think. Water getting into the mic stresses me out a little
Great video. New quilt? I have the same green Macpac 700 latitude as in your previous videos. Any reason for swapping it over? Not warm enough? They are a bit heavy though.
Yeah the latitude 700 has comfort rating to -6 I believe. I have been cold in it a few times near that temp. I like the bag but I plan to go camping on the very coldest nights up in the mountains so need more warmth. Our new quilts are-18 comfort so we should be total warm in them. They only weight 960grams for my long wide version pretty cool

tent pegs dont come straight out easily in good dirt. we hit them side to side to get them out. when you put the peg in on a back angle it will loosen with movement. straight in suction is whats the best. and yes im an asshole

What is your favorite place to camp that we have seen on video?
Hard to say. For me I really like the spot in the video titled (camping next to the stream - campfire) it about 4/5 hours walk in and 2 hour drive from our house so don’t go there as much as I would like. I also really enjoyed camping at lake Thompson from our nelson lakes video but that’s not really a regular camping location. The spot we recent did the 2 night camp is amazing especially in winter if you want to see some drone shots there go back to the older videos stunning spot
