    What a refreshing tutorial, three different methods and different but similar. Just love the 1930's poster style took me back to school days, learned "stylisation" rendered in acrylics. I am on the "dark side" trying hard to cross back into the light 🤣. Have an oil underpainted, ready for the completion when it calls me again, but loving water colour challenge. Much more difficult. Thanks again Paul

My husband has a poster of St. Mary's Lighthouse in the northern part of England and I think Whitley Bay in 1930's prints. He and his family would spend summers in that area. Thanks for a throwback to the railway prints of that time.

    I've heard youtube creators say that gouache is not like watercolour, they believed in this heartily, and that they can't be used as watercolour so ever since then I was unsure and a little bit scared to use them like that but in the video they seem to work exactly like watercolours. Mine become streaky and dont flow as much as yours do in the video, maybe I'm doing something wrong... but I will definitely try again with these lovely tutorials!

      He could, but it wouldn't look the same at all. If he uses his regular style, it'd look just like any other watercolor painting he's done, which is loose and semi-abstract. You can easily visualize how it'd look. You need gouache (or acrylics) to make it look as graphic as gouache allows you to.

    • @lainareeves3755
      @lainareeves3755 Год назад +1

    Hope you had an amazing time.
    Thank you so so much for doing a full gouache tutorial. Number 3 is completely up my street ( pun intended!)
    How do you decide whether to do an under painting or not ?

    OMG Paul this is so incredibly timey. I love your watercolour tutorials and recently I've been painting more and more with gouache. Excited to get deeper into it with your video!
