Isn't this fun? Beyond fun! Plus you get lovely, naturally dyed wool~ Bonus!
I'm so excited to be on this journey with you! I love eco dyeing. Another fascinating thing is that all natural dyes are cohesive to one another. It just keeps getting better! Can't wait to see what you do next! Happy natural dye- ing .And I hope you feel better soon❤

Angel, that's the impression I'm getting too -- that all these soft, earth-friendly tones go together beautifully. I want to get various colors dyed and in rolags, and then see how I want to spin them together. I am on the mend -- slowly.

It’s magical, isn’t it? I remember feeling like a child at Christmas when I first started exploring natural dyes. I’m excited for you. One other thing about lichens, the wool has a lovely woodland scent, and it lasts for years. Enjoy!

It IS magic :) I love it. I just wish I had more big pots and I would have dye baths all over the kitchen! I'm gonna keep a close eye on all the lichen in my yard.

Fascinating, i just heard a recommendation to collect the likin when the weather is hot, you can get a purple from fermented likin. Or maybe there are different strains of likin to give different colors?

I'm eager to learn about this! I wonder the same thing about different varieties of lichen. I'll do more dyeing as our weather warms. We're so rainy here, we have LOTS of lichens.

Great to hear I can dye right away with lichen, instead of having to use ammonia in a jar for 1-6 months (so many videos say this)

Next time make or use a cheesecloth bag to place your dye stuff in. That way you get more of the dye stuff out. It’s easier too

Yes, that's a very good idea! I hate the wet VM in my wool.

    Can you use cotton?

Yes, you can dye with cotton. I haven't done it myself, but everybody I've read says that you cotton (well, plant-based fibers) are less ready to take on dye color, and mordanting is important, and letting it sit in the dye longer is also important. I just LOVE WOOL, what can I say??
