Visiting My Brother's Apple Orchard

Eight years ago (about) I visited my brother's apple orchard for the first time. He's made many improvements since then! It's a very quiet, very remote place in the center of Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. He sees it as a gathering place for family and friends, and is developing it as a repository for ancient apple varieties. Music: Dreamland by Aakash Gandhi

    Cute bag, like magic. I love the floral lining fabric, totally my style. The yarn is 100% wool, Peruvian Highland and Donegal Tweed are both wool types. I am glad it worked for your bag, works well. Was the soaking rain a result of hurricane Debby? It sure looked like a major rain storm.

    • @myownlittlehouse471

      Yes, Lori, I think the rain was from Debbie. That was a big storm, so even though the eye passed nearer Raleigh, we easily got bands out here. Ernesto is the same -- eye in the Atlantic, but big water on the Outer Banks. I heard that a house fell into the sea AGAIN at Rodanthe!

    Good to see you again MK. I always look forward to your videos and this one great too. Why don't you like the month of August? I love it because it is Mobsoon season here in Utah which brings the temps way down and bearable for me!! Is using canola oil just as good as olive oil when making soap?

    • @myownlittlehouse471
      @myownlittlehouse471 22 дня назад

      I guess I would prefer to use olive oil rather than canola, because canola does have to be processed (as do some other oils also) before it can be consumed. But as far as making soap, I think it seems to do just as well as olive oil. I've lived in the Southeast almost all my life, and I loathe the heat and humidity -- it's just appalling. So all of August, I stay inside in the A/C. It's so so hot. I find it depressing and difficult to cope with emotionally. So I hibernate indoors and try to distract myself :)

    Mary Katherine, the first time I washed fleece I had the same result. I followed an expert,but I overdid the washing soda and didn’t know how delicate that particular fleece was. It was cotted much the same as yours. What a shame. It was a long white soft fleece; beautiful! It was a bear to get through. I had to put it away and bring it out and work on it from time to time. I did finially get it done. I lost a lot of fiber, but still had enough to do something with. I wish I could remember what it was. LOL. I’m no expert, but I don’t think you can felt fleece with too hot water temperature. Temperature change and agitation are usually the culprits. If anyone can muscle through this, you can. So you can mark and then undo your zip tie to reuse again and again many many times. There is a little tab on the zip tie that you just need to get a thin needle in there to move it out of the way and then undo your zip. Saves you bundles on zips and you can open them back up. Just mark the zip so you can put it back into the same spot each time. Keep refreshing the mark just in case it wears off or gets hard to see. Simple trick for the cheapskate.

    Wow! That chair looks phenomenal! You sure had a wonderful and busy week. Being with family is such a blessing. The planting bench is so very nice. Your son is amazing! Ty for the catch-up. ❤
