I'm from the West Coast of Vancouver Island and which has many of the same plants as where you are. The cones that you are finding that look like Spruce cones to you are actually Douglas Fir cones. And the plant that looks like Holly is actually called Oregon Grape or Berberis Nervosa. Hopefully that helps!
Thank you so much for helping to identify some of our shared flora 💚 I should have remembered Oregon Grape since I harvested it for color in the summer months a few years ago, but without its fruit, it was just a prickly bush 😊
Just earned a sub great video I’m growing tons of ferns right now my two gems of the bunch is my blue oil fern(variegated) and my red tri color fern can’t wait to try and make some dye out of them
Another good one. 🌸👏🏽👏🏽💕 Thank you. 🌸 Love my *Picture This* app and have been using it for a few years now. 🌸🌻 It’s mostly correct. 🌱🌱🌱 Every time I pull weeds I wonder, “Will this give up some color ?” 💙💜♥️💛💚
Another sweet message from you - thank you, Bonnie 💚 I'm with you in loving the app even if it gives more generic or slightly skewed results. It still knows much more than me!! And yes, I'm always wondering what color might be hiding amongst the greenery 😘
It is most likely a sword fern. I believe the fronds had tiny stems to hold onto the main stem which is a marker for sword fern. Deer fern are also very popular in my area.
@@jessicabey275 I'm not a fiber expert, but I've been happy with the silk from Dharma. I've only purchased wool from Europe which was AMAZING but incredibly expensive. If you find a good place for wool, feel free to share 😊
The joy is contagious.🎉
This makes my heart sing - thank you!

Yarn??!?!!! Yes, please!
Consider it done! I had such amazing results with wool yarn when I was on residency in Oaxaca, so will make sure it has a soak in my dye pot soon 💚
What kind of fern did you use.

What type of silk was that?
The silk in this video is Habotai 5mm. I buy it at Dharma Trading - HS555 is the item number 😊
