oops! I forgot to post the reference photo: unsplash.com/photos/people-walking-on-street-during-night-time-rLWKOJaZISU Also, the lightwish calender I used sold out but this one by Grabie is 100% cotton and should work well too: amzn.to/41Oe46q (affiliate link)
Yes, the idea of a monthly calendar painting session is a great idea. What would be even better is if Lightwish would put out a 2026 calendar that you could work on during 2025 at a relaxed pace and then give as a Christmas present in December 2025. Your ballerina painting is lovely. Merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season and to all your followers also. Greetings from Toronto, Ontario 🇨🇦
You could do paintings and then stick them on the calendar pages instead of directly on their stock. Unless they change the size, it should fit or make your own. I remember when that was a thing.
A 2026 calendar is a good idea! You could DIY it. Paint from a block and then get one of those ready made "put your photos" calendars and you can assemble it when the calendars become available. As I mention this I realize I can do this myself. Thanks for the nudge!
@@nalissa77 Yes, you could always buy a 2026 calendar when they come out in 2025 and paste in your paintings but you would not have access to those artist quotes which provide a theme for your paintings as in: Degas, ballerinas, pastels; all of which Lindsay pulled together in her painting.
That sounds like a great idea, basing your monthly painting on that month's featured Artist. I would love to see you continue with this monthly project.
I thought this was a fabulous idea when you showed it on Sat Chat. Something free and easy with no expectations. We can choose to paint what you paint or something else that the quote inspires us to paint. I loved the painting you made. Totally reminded me of Degas. Love the painting!
What a wonderful idea, Lindsay! I looked right away, and the calendar is no longer available. However, that doesn't mean I can't paint a long. I do hope you do this the end of each month. Your painting is beautiful, as always.
Lindsay i really love this, it feels like the inspiration I've been waiting for for the last few weeks! Love the idea of some art history and painting. No pressure but I've ordered the calendar to paint along!
I love how your painting came out. The idea of matching the quote with the artists style in your painting was brilliant. I’d paint along if you did these monthly. 🤩
I LOVE this painting and as soon as I saw it, Degas’s paintings came to mind. Doing art in the style of the painter quoted would be so much fun to see. Thanks for sharing Lindsay.
Sounds fun to me. I am always blown away by your watercolor paintings that you speed up. They go from OMG Lindsay what are you doing? To OMG Lindsay that's gorgeous in less than 10 minutes.
Hullo Lindsay, I am just staring in awe at my screen! You have a million dollar idea for creating consistent content for an Artists channel! The idea of working on the calendar a year in advance is almost how it is done for so many businesses! I believe that you have enough subscribers that you can create a page a month either on the calendar project or for next year’s calendar. You can even make it easier for You, if you want to create your monthly page during a stream! You have a full length video, no editing, repeatable content where viewers become part of the project too! Viewers can watch, paint the calendar, paint on a fresh sheet for their own enjoyment or calendars they will assemble! So many different ways to WIN! I am hopeful that you will find a way to make this happen. I have a minor in history and during my art history segment I decided to take a college level art class, it changed the course of my life! I never thought I could earn a living in Art. I was in college for a business degree and “flip” I switched, in fact I never finished because I got an Art job and I never looked back!
Yeah. Looks like fun. Who is quoted in Feb? I’ll give it a go. Seems like the calendars are sold out so I'll be doing it on regular watercolor paper. Gabbie has a vertical one but it's smaller.
Great idea! Would paint along. Here in 🇩🇪 there are empty calendars to self illustrate in thick(er) paper. I can imagine creating something in a different medium every month: watercolor, gouache, Neocolor II, tempera sticks, ink and wash, collage, gelli printing collage...now you got me all inspired.
Thanks for the heads up! The singles are on clearance too! They have double ended for the price of one brush ao you could switch the tips after you use up one ink chamber. They probably weren't selling well.
That would be so much fun! I’d do it!!! I saw this a little late and Amazon is out of stock. But I have a big pad of 15x 10.2” Baihong block paper. It’s big enough for me to draw a little calendar on the bottom if I use it Portrait way, so I may use this. It’s a great idea and I hope I can follow along. P.s. I’ve been doing some tree bookmarks from your last video and it’s getting my brush moving again! Thanks so much!
I love this idea. The 2023 Art by Marlene advent calendar had a desk calendar. I would say in terms of challenging myself in art, I was most successful in this challenge. I see my Aug’23 piece is the first sketchbook floozy challenge - the feather and flowers from your walk in the woods ❤
I really like this idea. Can we stop having so many marketing videos, please? The reason I like you so much is because you mainly did art, not selling. I love the art you do x
I don't do many sponsored videos, maybe one a month. I post reviews on Mondays, so you might want to skip them if you don't want to know about new products, but I post 4 (or more) a week so hopefully you find some you like:)
I have doubts about this comment. I don’t believe that you are selling in your videos ! You are always saying “use what you got!” You even mentioned using a separate sheet of paper! Thanks for sharing your ideas and techniques!
I love this idea, love art history and would totally do this with you! Can't wait! Can you please link to the Unsplash source photo? I would love to try this one too.
Love this idea! I enjoy art history shows on RUclips so this would be great! Have you seen the one from England, sorry, can’t remember the name, they research pieces of art that people have to find the history of them to see if they are valuable. Now I’ll have to go find the name of the show 😂 Your painting is delightful, love Degas! ❤❤❤ thanks Lindsay!…. Found it 😂😂😂 Fake or Fortune, I think I’ve seen all of them.
Love the artist-themed calendar page idea. One fun thing will be learning artist name pronunciations. For instance I've always pronounced Degas wrong. So I went down a rabbit hole of listening to artist name pronunciations. As it turns out, we in the US are a hot mess at pronouncing Van Gogh. His Dutch self is rolling in the grave. Anyway, side track. Yes, to the artist challenge!
I love the painting and the idea! This is lovely. So when I search for pastel pencils, I get pastel colored pencils or chalk pencils in my results. Which ones should I get, lol?
oops! I forgot to post the reference photo: unsplash.com/photos/people-walking-on-street-during-night-time-rLWKOJaZISU

I love the idea of doing a monthly calendar page together!
Yay!
Yes! A monthly calendar and art history lesson combined would be a video I would totally watch!
Yay! Thank you!

This is a great idea! What a gift to give or receive next Christmas. Go you for thinking ahead!

I ordered this calendar after you mentioned it on Sat chat. I’d paint along
That sounds like a great idea, basing your monthly painting on that month's featured Artist. I would love to see you continue with this monthly project.
I'm already scheming about what to paint in February! 😄
I really love how this turned out. ❤❤❤
Yes! Let's do it every month!!!🎉 I already ordered the calendar and I can't wait!
So excited for this! 🥳
Yes, please! I am not at this level but loved watching you create this and learning about Degas. LOVE this painting!
Thanks so much! I love Degas too.
I think this painting came from the heart. ❤ I can tell you enjoyed painting it. Stay warm and enjoy the holidays.
Thanks so much! I did love painting this!
Yes. A monthly thing would be great!❤
Yes- this looks like a fun idea.
I thought this was a fabulous idea when you showed it on Sat Chat. Something free and easy with no expectations. We can choose to paint what you paint or something else that the quote inspires us to paint. I loved the painting you made. Totally reminded me of Degas. Love the painting!
So glad you're enjoying the challenge!
Yes! Cool and fun ideas Lindsay!!
Thank you!
What a wonderful idea, Lindsay! I looked right away, and the calendar is no longer available. However, that doesn't mean I can't paint a long. I do hope you do this the end of each month.
Your painting is beautiful, as always.
Great idea!!
Love this -- and I'd love to see a monthly calendar page -- whether this exact calendar, or any. How fun. Thanks again, Lindsay, for all you share.
You're welcome 😊
Oh, I love this! How beautiful. Yes!! Please do this each month❤
I'm so glad you like it!
Absolutely! The painting is just stunning❤️
Painting a calendar page for each month is a great idea. I hope you continue!
I’m going to try it!
This is such a beautiful painting, Lindsay. It was fun to watch and I'm glad you enjoyed doing it!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is ''TRULY'' DELIGHTFUL !!!
Happiest of Holidays to You and Family Lindsay!
Thanks 😊 happy holidays!
Lindsay i really love this, it feels like the inspiration I've been waiting for for the last few weeks! Love the idea of some art history and painting. No pressure but I've ordered the calendar to paint along!
Nice!
So fun! What a good idea! Yes!
Thanks, I'm hoping it catches on!
I love how your painting came out. The idea of matching the quote with the artists style in your painting was brilliant. I’d paint along if you did these monthly. 🤩
I like your thinking! 😆 🤣 😂
I LOVE this painting and as soon as I saw it, Degas’s paintings came to mind. Doing art in the style of the painter quoted would be so much fun to see. Thanks for sharing Lindsay.
Degas was definitely an inspiration for this piece!
Absolutely stunning! Beautiful
Thanks! I'm glad you like it.
I love this painting! I got to see a Degas in person recently. I took a close up photo of his strokes.
How wonderful!
Love this…. Great painting. A really lovely idea, once a month painting.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it!
Sounds fun to me. I am always blown away by your watercolor paintings that you speed up. They go from OMG Lindsay what are you doing? To OMG Lindsay that's gorgeous in less than 10 minutes.
Thank you so much!
Degas would approve!
I absolutely love this painting! I think painting a calendar page each month is a great idea.
I'm so glad you like it!
Yes, I'd do that. I'm not sure I want to try an " old master" painting, tho. But I love the idea of a picture a month.
It doesn’t have to be an “old master” if you don’t want it to be!
Yes, it should absolutely be a thing! I've just put the calendar in my basket, hoping it will drop in price after Christmas 🤞

I love this idea! It might be a good way to create more content and connect with my viewers.
I’m very interested in this monthly painting idea. And this turned out so delightful!
Thank you, I'm so glad you like it!
What an amazing idea for a painting. And I love your execution. Actually, the calendar idea is pretty fantastic, as well!
Thank you so much! I'm really excited about it.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it!
Yeah. Looks like fun. Who is quoted in Feb? I’ll give it a go. Seems like the calendars are sold out so I'll be doing it on regular watercolor paper. Gabbie has a vertical one but it's smaller.
I'll have to check!
Heck yeah to the monthly calendar. I already ordered one lol
That's awesome!
Gorgeous! You are such a talent! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It was fun to do.
That's a great idea!
Yes, that is a great idea!
Thanks 😊
love this idea!
also-- Blick has OLO marker sets on clearance! I guess the sets are being discontinued?
Thanks for the heads up! The singles are on clearance too! They have double ended for the price of one brush ao you could switch the tips after you use up one ink chamber. They probably weren't selling well.
Great idea! Would love to paint a calendar each month.
Let's do it!
This is great. I have a watercolor calendar from Grabie that I'll need to paint each month, so it would be fun!
I hope you enjoy it!
I think it's a FUN idea! I ordered the pack and am looking forward to doing this with you and the pals in 2025.
I'm so excited you joined the challenge!
This is a great idea ❤
I'm glad you think so!
I love this idea and would definitely paint along. 😊
I’m so glad you like it!
so beautiful ❤

I love Baihong paper - so glad it will work for you!
I would love to do a monthly painting !
This turned out so good! I ordered one of these calendars to paint for myself, though I will probably not do the same things or subjects as yours.
Have fun!
Love your idea and painting.
Thanks!

I love how this came out and I think it’s a great idea for a series. 🩰
Thanks 😊
Great Idea Lindsay!
Thank you! Let's see what happens.
I love this idea, love art history and would totally do this with you! Can't wait! Can you please link to the Unsplash source photo? I would love to try this one too.
Oops! I added it to the description and in a pinned comment.
I love the idea of this being a monthly event. Will there be real time videos that go along with the monthly painting? That would be cool.
That's a great idea!
Beautiful!
Thanks so much!
Not persay a THING but for any crafter fun. I don't need one but if it is your job it is a fun gift.
I love this! The Lightwish one is out of stock on Amazon, but the Grabie one looks similar. I’m in! 🎉
Thanks, I just looked at it, I think it will work!
@@thefrugalcrafter Bonus, its a wee bit cheaper too :-D
Love the idea!
Thanks!

Thanks for the encouragement!

It is so interesting how we get things wrong!
I’m in! 🙋🏻♀️
🙂
I love this idea. It's a good way to practice and study. And your painting is beautiful. Unfortunately it's now out of stock.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! Hopefully more will be available soon. If not you can use a sketchbook or any watercolor paper.
I had thought of that! I do have calendar stamps...
A friend gave me a watercolor calendar that has blank spaces for each month too!
Nice!
I love the painting and the idea! This is lovely. So when I search for pastel pencils, I get pastel colored pencils or chalk pencils in my results. Which ones should I get, lol?
The chalk ones)
That painting looks so cool! ❤
Do the soft pastel pencils rub off? 🤔 Or did you seal/fix them off-camera?
I will probably fix them but pastel pencil is not as dusty, especially on textured paper like this and used in a small amount.
My calendar is on the way!
Yay!
Great idea! If you get next years early, you could paint one as a gift!🫶🇦🇺
I like that idea!
Great idea!
I’m glad you think so!
