I've built several Mustang/Camaro-Firebirds over the years, and enjoyed every one of them. The Mustang in this video is a very clean looking car, and it appears as if everything was done right with the car. My initial comment wasn't really about this car specifically. I was just saying that I find it a bit disheartening to see what EV vehicles are capable of, knowing that we're only going to see even better performance in the future, and at prices that will likely come down some as we inch closer to full adoption.
Meanwhile... I'm killing myself trying to get a 460 to fit in my '68 Torino. If the Zilla aftermarket and swap program were in full swing, I'd be rolling in a Torinozilla right now.

The Tourque is insane but the RPMs are lacking hence how he can launch that hard and run 9s. Forced induction for higher RPM will get this car moving down the other side of the track much better. Also I don't think the gearing is correct for a 1/4 mile run. 1/8 miles yes!!!
@@damonlemasters3424 its the same on smaller cubes too. pushrod motors typically make equal or more torque than they do horsepower, the opposite is true for the mod motors including the coyote, thier torque is always alot less than thier HP. in naturally aspirated form
Ford has gotten so much less press over the 6.2 compared to the 7.3 Godzilla despite already boasting a plethora of truck based engines pushing 8s naturally aspirated. Try and find a stock 7.3 Godzilla Dyno graph online and you'll see what I mean. Now that the 7.3 is top trim truck engine boasting a ton of cubes, the 6.2L Boss engines are finding their way right out of peoples attention purely because of the lack of press. Now there are a plethora of these 379ci big blocks which offer both room to increase in displacement well over 7 liters, as well as headflow on par with rec port LS, or modern Hemis and they already have solid aftermarket and oem support with Fords racing using these engines drag racing, and baja off-roading endurance races. These are filling used car lots, junkyards, and you pull lots for a lot less $$$ than you'd think. Not trying to take anything from the 7.3, but the average power offered by the smaller 6.2 from 4500-6500 rpms is pretty comparable to the 7.3. Both engines in basically the same chassis respond with similar peak horsepower after tuning with torque being greater for the 7.3 by some 40-50ft/lbs. While significant for towing, the power below 4k rpms matters very little on a drag strip where you only see those low rpms when you launch. Its crazy you can snag a 6.2 from a wrecked f series for $1200 but cant find even a refurbished 7.3L for less than $6000. Still a heck of a time to be an automotive enthusiast with so many great offerings from Ford, Gm, and Chrysler.

My brother was offered a 70 Cuda with a Hemi for $3,000 what happened to those times 😂
@@02autogt This is not true. The 6.2 boasts a ton of aftermarket support and oem support from ported heads, camshafts, stroker kits offering forged internals, as well as short and long runner intake manifolds available from the factory. Stock 6.2L Sohc heads flow more on the exhaust port than stock 706 ls heads flow through the intake port. They can be ran on 2v computers and harnesses making it an easy swap into any Modular powered car. Stock for stock, the 6.2 produces about 20less rwhp than a 5.0 truck trim coyote and about 40 more ft/lbs of torque. The Raptor trim produces almost identical peak horsepower. There are several 6.2 powered Fox chassis in the 8s, and several of them Na. One of which is carbed.

My Gen 3 10R80 car just went 9.4's and all I have is a Whipple, fore innovations return style fuel system, E85, headers, and I'm still on the stock axel backs tuned by Lund Racing. This engine is such a dumb trend, it's just meant for left over foxbody guys who dream of days if the X cam.

I can accept the technology but I would like a choice. The sound of an internal combustion engine and the parts and pieces give the vehicle a big part of its character. I just don’t see electric motors the same way.
@@revanevan I'm completely with you man. Maybe you misconstrued what I initially wrote. When it comes right down to it, I'm always going to be a gas powered engine purist.
Wow! Almost as fast as a manual, NA, LS7 in the chassis it came in from 2005!
Again, a package that you can duplicate for under $20K vs a $120,000 Vette. There's always a faster car, we're showing what can be done with a $6,000 crate engine, I'm sorry if you don't like to see people experimenting with cars.
Nice car ,it would be far better to see times. Generally speaking I don’t like the new Mustangs after 71’. Great launch every time!
What transmission is he running
Any of you fanboys notice the blond hottie? What am I saying...of course you haven't. LOL
What transmission does it have in it
Anyone else keep hearing that popping?
The Tourque is insane but the RPMs are lacking hence how he can launch that hard and run 9s.
Forced induction for higher RPM will get this car moving down the other side of the track much better. Also I don't think the gearing is correct for a 1/4 mile run.
1/8 miles yes!!!
I agree. A 2020gt500 ran a 8.97 over 150mph on a new car at our local track. You can see some of RUclips hitting 8's in the gt500
torque, thats the beauty of pushrods, you dont have to spin the snot out em to make power.
@@motownXJdad9565 larger displacement is what gives it more low end torque not pushrods
@@damonlemasters3424 its the same on smaller cubes too. pushrod motors typically make equal or more torque than they do horsepower, the opposite is true for the mod motors including the coyote, thier torque is always alot less than thier HP. in naturally aspirated form
Well the coyote will still wheel stand off the line just like that so is he lying about the torque a boosted coyote makes🤷
Ford is amazing bruh
Anyone know where Evan says the 6.8 rumors are not true? I don’t wanna see the coyote go away but a big block option would be cool
I'm really puzzled why they gave up on pushing the 6.2 as a performance motor?? That thing is badass even Roush started messing with it but gave up?
Absolutely no aftermarket for the 6.2 and it doesn't really hold a candle to a Coyote...
My first car was a 65 Mustang lots of Bondo but it had a 289 hi-po T-10 four-speed and Detroit Locker rear the guy I bought it from was on my paper out he was a drag racer he sold it to me for $300 bought a 72 Gran Torino 351 Cobra Jet for $1,500.
Very cool Paul!!
3 Words..Not An LS.👍👍
hell yeah brother!!
Not as fast either as an ls
I LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF HOT RODDING!!!!!
Good straight clean runs👍
Cleetus just ran a 7.80, with lots of room for more
A 1964 Thunderbolt did 10 sec ,Stock !! Think of that.right out of the factory in "64"
soooo, the new Ford GT is gonna come with a twin turbo Godzilla 7.3???? Evan you were just in Detroit, why didnt you get this scoop?
Congratulations!!! Consistently straight as an arrow ! What’s all done to the chassis ?
Stock-style 3-link with racing bolt-in control arms and shocks. Stock front with replacement struts and drag race springs.
@@revanevan Very Nice! Once again congratulations!
@@revanevan 🐺 🐺 😂
Ok that’s cool but does it come in a E450 body?????
Just have to say the Chevy 6.0 is winning the man van category!!
HD vans are the best by far. Let’s do 4WD too!!
What took so long? This is the engine that should have followed the original 5.0L. then the coyote......
On a small tire hell yea
Cool story. 9.06 is the all motor coyote record in an s197 CJ car…
Does anyone here have any information about the cobra jet blocks? I believe I have a 66 352 with a CJX1 one casting Mark, I’m hoping this is a Talladega motor?
It's just a block cast in 61
Not sure of it's lineage though
BIG BLOCK CHEVY.
not bad considering back in 2015 they were running low 8's
with a 5.0
Stock unopened 5.0s are into the 7s now reliably
It is nice to see a Ford with a Ford engine in it. Maybe Ford will pay some attention for a change.
BadA$$!!! ... would love to see those bleachers full of fans.
Zoom in on the times and mph
Thats Awesome,👍💯Fo.Mo.Go🤘👍
This cool and all, but the problem is and I've been saying all along is the Coyote has been there and done that. What sound mental person will rip out a Coyote, spend almost 10k for a truck engine that will need rebuilt with better rods, pistons, cylinder heads, custom 1 off intake manifold to run low 9's? My Gen 3 10R80 car just went 9.4's and all I have is a Whipple, fore innovations return style fuel system, E85, headers, and I'm still on the stock axel backs tuned by Lund Racing. I did that in 1600DA and my 60ft was not the best at 1.61 - I have more in it and the engine is STOCK - stock rods, pistons, cams, heads, stock bolts, stock everything aside from boost and fuel. This engine is such a dumb trend, it's just meant for left over foxbody guys who dream of days if the X cam.
Don't forget that this 7.3 combo is being pushed is a fully gutted race chassis yet! Midnight has taken a stock gen 3 coyote motor ! with turbos fuel system and built trans in a gutted s550 and got into the 7s @170 coyote is going to be king for quite a while I'm sure
I can see it now, 20 years down the line
“2013 mustang GT, 7.3 swap, flowmaster 40’s, off-road X, Ford Racing cam, ported heads, hurst shifter, $35,000 no low balls”
@@169abr yup it will also say " I know what I have, built not bought" guy will have pit viper glasses and barb wire tattoos also.
Awesome 😎👍
Y'all need a drone.
Y'all going to try water methanol?
There is no need when you're using race gas. Water meth increases octane (on the cheap) and allows more timing advance, that's where the power comes from, not from the meth. So race gas allows the same thing and it's more consistent. Good question though. Thanks for watching our channel.
The American Godzilla
I need that engine in my ranger
What's all the popping and banging?
Its a Ford!
Wat an awsome car..
No H pattern 😒
NO JUST NO ON THIS TITLE THERE ONLY ONE GODZILLA AND THAT'S THE GTR GET IT RIGHT
Did someone order a n extra large gap-perroni pizza??
You can clearly hear the motor is breaking up on the big end and NOT running "clean"...keep at it, still have a long way to catch up with any of the bastardized LS motor times swapped into a ford body
917? thats all?
ditch the auto trans and put in a six speed.
I see GM is building a BBC powered COPO Camaro. 🤔
Big Black Cock?! WTF?!
That GMs got a dinosaur engine which is fitting since the Camaro is about to go extinct too. LOL!
@@tylerolson5860 It's just because they couldn't beat the F/S Cobrajets, and that branch of GM called NHRA has rated that 582 cubes of engine at a piss weak 430 joke power. The same one that makes 750hp in the GM crate engine. Mark my words, if it stays at that rating, no other combination will get a snowball's chance in hell of winning in 2022...pathetic !!
Maybe NHRA will allow the Godzilla the same leniency in 2023, and rate it at say 290hp, lol !!
@@arkhsm GM cant justify the Camaros existance after they screwed up the 6th gen refresh so bad they dont sell. Only GM worth owning is a C8. Rest can fill the dumpsters.
Nhra factory stock runs 7's
Not sure if your point comparing a $60,000 end in an FSS car to a stock crate engine with nitrous.
Godzilla
Is it really a record if it's made for one engine? Like the LS guys, "im the quickest sbe in a purple foxbody on 26s at my local track".........cmon
7.3 needs to be in a Ford GT!
It might just be!
its out, its getting the 7.3 with twin turbos
Cant read the numbers
9.17
Dosen't look anything like a 2.6ltr twin turbo 6 cylinder I associate with GODZILLA being the R32 Nissan GTR. No credit here.
Pretty cool but even with 200+ hp of nitrous its getting close to the time put up by a stock Tesla Plaid . .Think that was a 9.15 @ 154
Ford has a electric cobra jet car. It’s faster than 9.1
@@TheBb6prelude yeah but it’s not 5000 lb and street legal. Daily driver. Incredible Million $$ car though! Would love to own it.
@@randysrestoration you're comparing a drag car that you can duplicate for about 25K to a $140,000 production car. Sink $140,000 into a Mustang and I'm sure you can get it to run 8s and be a daily driver.
@@revanevan so I can buy Paul’s car as is for 25k? SOLD! He has more invested than the 122,990.00 plaid but I would be happy to take it for the 25k.
@@randysrestoration Eventually you will be able to find a $1500 used 7.3 out of a wrecked F250 and drop it in a fox body and be well under $25K all in. The point of the 7.3 is simplicity, swap-ability and low cost in terms of up front investment and long term running costs for the serious weekend racer.
