It's always interesting to me when the main character isn't necessarily likeable, because Selena is...rough. It's keeping me engaged though, because I like that as a reader I'm being pushed to accept an imperfect lead that isn't the typical female character you'd find in most novels within this genre

I think the books are great. Just a gentle suggestion though. The main character only picks at salads and water repeatedly. For young girls listening, that's pretty disturbing. Maybe consider giving her a normal appetite.
Especially considering she's a fighter, she needs protein and whatever else fighters eat, I like that her sisters eat though
IDK, the point is, this is fantasy, not real life. She is a supernatural. She wrote it that way. Kinda rude to ask, least for me. It's our worlds we write, and we tell a story. People reading those stories should know this is not reality. And they are not gonna spring supernatural powers like main characters, and especially copy them and what they eat. You can't blur and mix the lines between fantasy and reality. Suggestion from me, fantasy is not for you if you look making everything like the real world.
Lucas says her favorite food is cheeseburgers that suggests that she does eat other things off scene

I'm 4 hours in, and I can't relate to the main character. My sister and I had a violent and unhealthy childhood, and I took care of her. I didn't push her away the minute we hit high school. It's hard to reconcile how the MC talks about herself and what her actions towards her family really show. Does it get better? Does she become less absorbed in self-pitty and angst and re-engage with her sisters?
Exactly, she's so off-putting. I feel nothing for this character but annoyance.
My parents were abusive and they made me the scapegoat and pitted my siblings against me.
@Meskarune I'm sorry they did that. Ours definitely praised and preferred my sister, but that didn't stop our father from trying to hit her. I did, though. He had to go through me to get to her. Since I wouldn't cry for him, he usually tired himself out hurting me and didn't touch her. No wonder neither of us shed a tear when he died. Hope Hell's been awful for the asshole.
Anyhow, I knew they preferred my prettier, more obedient sister, but that wasn't her fault. It was all the abuser's fault. But maybe we're just lucky our parents didn't manage to ruin our relationship. I am so grateful to have her in my life as a sister and friend.
I hope you're living your best life without abuse now, too. Here's to breaking the cycles.

I just listened to Lucifer’s daughter on Audible it was great my membership will let me listen to everyone, but the second one
3:36. Didn’t like the female main character. Three hours of “i am better, i i am this, i am that”. She says she is selfless but all i get in three hours how selfish she is. There is this bitterness bit still don’t know the reason.
Please release an audiobook version on A mazon. My friend recommended your book but there was no audiobook version available on there. I'm glad you have it here but some of us would like to support you and not everyone will think to check RUclips for the audiobook.

Good writing. The main character is somewhat neurotic, angst embarrassing, victim mentality, immature. Adult writer missing the mark of a teenager's emotional neurosis.
I wrote the book at 15 when I was the same age as the character. I think it's portrayed fairly accurately, but as adults struggle to relate the same.
I think it is very relatable for anyone who had a rough life, had to grow up young, and had responsibilities over others. Knowing but still trying to find herself. Very well written.

I bought an heir of shadows book because I’m trying to get the whole series but I’ve noticed some inconsistencies between my book and this audio book like the age in this book it says their 15 but in my book it says 16 I read book 2 and it stays with the ages from the physical book just wanted to make sure you knew

3hrs already and I heared only whinning 😂😂😂 not for me this one
This book is intriguing enough to keep me listening, but It almost feels like it’s missing parts because it jumps around with little explanation about how we got from here to there. The characters aren’t very likable either. I understand teenage angst, but you have to have a few redeeming qualities.

1. The description of the tall brown skin butler then the slave comparison was not needed in the story. 😢
2. The girls are realllllly young for sex. Bloody first time was last year but she was 15 thinking about it. Meaning the sister started having sex at 14?
3. The main character sounds like she only ever eats salads 😩

The VC is great but this is probably the most poorly written book I’ve read/listened to in a bit! 1/5 stars, I couldn’t even finish it, I love unlikeable characters but the author wrote them so poorly she’s just…..annoying and 1 dimensional
