I own a Steam Deck and the Portal. In my experience the portal exceeded my expectations. The battery life is sufficient enough that I'm not searching for an outlet after an hour, which is my experience with the Deck. Also the 8 inch display is bright and clear. Going back to the Deck after a couple weeks with the Portal, the difference was quite noticeable. Lastly, even though internet is required, there is no graphical downgrade from PS5 quality. I love my Deck, but the Portal has got some great things going for it. It's a great time to be a gamer!
Steam deck is 720 vs a 1080p screen on the Portal so of course you noticed a difference. Dude 720p is gaaaaaaarbage quality, now why you acting brand new?Cmon guy lol
Best investment I’ve made since my ps5 but I’m gonna let everyone know now the best experience is to get a digital ps5 so you don’t have to constantly worry about changing your game. Get a m.2 Samsung ssd internal memory card with the heat sink. I have 70 games installed it’s endless fun on the portal I don’t have to call home and have somebody change my disc🤣
I read if you force the ps5 settings to 1080p 120hz off and remove the HDMI cable it will improve the lag or stutter, can you connect to your mobile hotspot and see if it's true when you play far away from home because that's the only reason that makes me want to buy it and waste my money 😆
Im hoping that in the future theres an update that would allow us to use our portal as a wii u controller where we can use the portal as an actual ps5 controller while utilizing that 8inch screen as my start button where all my accesories are anedmap goes or other things.. Can u imagine being able to play ps5 games and have your hub on that 8inch screen or other things? Can u imagine the things the developers could implement in their games for people who choose to play their games with the portal as a controller? Sony better make it happen it will blow away everything
@@TechMarkGaming Be on the lookout for that because sometimes that silicone whatever dye they use rubs off on white products. I ordered it in white just to be on the safe side . I want Red so bad it’s my favorite color.
I have been an avid switch user from 2018 to 2022. Late 2022 I finally was able to find a digital PS5 (I wanted the physical because it was easier to find discounted games, but it was out of stock). Well soon enough Sony started discounting digital games too, which was not the case early in the cycle. I still bought a lot of games on my switch though, because of portability. BUT now that I have the portal I haven’t touched my switch for 1 month and I’m glad I have the digital PS5. I’m buying all my games on PS5 and having a blast
think owners of a iPhone 15 Pro Max and updated 2.0 Backbone there’s no real need for this device. Portal has a slightly larger screen but falls short everywhere else. No OLED display, No native gaming, No Apps, No Web browser, No Bluetooth, No Wi-fi 6, No decent speakers, No streaming. It’s not even small enough to be portable where it can just fit in your jacket. I do like how almost the entire display is used. Maybe if it’s on sale or discounted I may get it.
Could anyone assist me? I'm encountering an issue with remote play on my PlayStation portal. It functions flawlessly on my laptop while connected to my work Wi-Fi, but it's not working on my PS Portal device. When both the PS5 and Portal devices are on the same home network, remote play functions without any problems. However, I'm eager to use it during my breaks at work, and it's proving to be a challenge. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! (and no my web browser at work does not require extra log ins)
I just thought of asking this since I was just wondering, but can you also sign into your PlayStation Network account manually on the PlayStation Portal using just an e-mail address and password for PSN like you can on the PS5? I was just wondering though since I actually don't really scan QR codes myself being that I'm just not into that sort of thing. Even though this is 2023, almost going into 2024 now, I'm kind of an old-fashioned person and all since I still do certain things like it's 2003 almost or something.
Nope 😕 PlayStation blocks this feature when using remote play. Probably because of the bandwidth of the ps5 WiFi chip isn’t as advanced to do so all at once.
I just used my Portal for the first time away from home yesterday tethered to my cell. The experience was amazing. I was even able to play a deployment of MW Zombies and it only got intense once because the screen froze for a second or two. I knew playing an online game was risky but I wanted to test it. Most games I will play on it won't be like this, but considering it was possible, anything I will play is also possible. I'm loving this device. Sure, it won't be for everyone, but it works as needed for me. :)
I just got my portal few days ago and it's a banger. I played Strangers of paradise on it for 30hrs. There are a few hiccups like the stuttering but it was fixed when I attached an ethernet cable on my PS5 instead of using Wifi.

I agree. I wish the Portal was a standalone gaming device, but it's still a great piece of hardware.
I also own a Steam Deck and ROG Ally.

Does that red silicone case rub off on the portal as far as the coloring?
Not that I know of! Had it for about 3 days so far. Good question 👌🏾

hi can you answer ths for me
is it possible to do livestream on the portal to twitch or yt?
unlike using remote play on phone that you cant?

great comparison to backbone and why portal is its own thing, can't wait for mine to get here today
Thanks Russ, welcome to the portal family 🎮🔥👌🏾
I've had my portal for 1 week now and I absolutely love it I'm actually playing mortal kombat 1 on it as we speak lol love it❤
I think it would be better if we have a choice to make it 720p instead of 1080p constantly for those who don't have stable internet connection.
I believe it does that automatically. Is embedded in the PS remote app
I got mine too and got the feeling from the beginning that expérience woulf great and guess what it really is except some lags sometimes
I had it since launch. Love it!

Thank you! Great video btw.
Does anyone know if you can use a pulse 3d headset wired to the portal? And be able to use the 3d functions etc . Thanks
I’m sure you can! Connect the wire to pulse 3d and connect it to the headphone jack.
