Thx fr making that video. I'm a Lake Cumberland local and love following BPT being at Dale. Drive over today to spectate. Sorry you had a tugh tourney.
It can not be easy to fish a tournament on legendary Dale Hollow and not be overwhelmed by the mystique, natural beauty and history of the lake. Winning a BPT on Dale Hollow, for smallmouth anglers, is like winning the Classic ! Instant legend... Some cool lures for sure !
It’s so cool to see, and hear you talking local tackle, especially from Dale Hollow 😊 it has a special place in my heart as well as Cumberland . I grew up in Kentucky and have spent weeks at a time on both Dale Hollow and Cumberland in houseboats and towing my fishing boat into some secret coves, within coves, and just wake up and go fishing 🎣 I really hope you do great and have fun and get a ton of video.. Dale Hollow gets over 100 ft deep, and you can still find remnants of a town that was there when they damned the river to create the lake. I’ve even caught walleye there 30+ years ago and was certified for scuba diving there because it’s clear compared to most lakes in Kentucky. You do have nothing but “country” roads when you need to get to town 😂
Dale Hollow Lake has a special place in my memories. Loved to fish tournaments there in the past. Horse Creek Dock with Jack Huddleston and Billy Westmoreland will have a special place in my memory. Spinning rods, 6lb line, hair jigs, little george, silver buddies, jerkbaits, and small creature bait will get the job done.
I’m a Kentucky angler myself. I love the twin lake baits and tackle. They make some good swimbaits as well! The float in fly is a great technique as well on clear water mountain lakes. Best of luck!
Some of the old school tackle shops is where you find the discontinued products that work so well in the past. I love finding them around all the small great fishing lake towns far away from all the major stores; even gas stations. Keep up the great videos and good luck in the event! Get some sun on those little legs “Rooster”. Cheers
@@secretbassrigs Someone just told me, that the old balsa ac shiners are worth good money here in Ontario. I have 5 or so. He says $50-$75 each. That would buy me another kage reel I like so much. 😂🤣cheers and tight lines!
@@R-angler I'm such a lure junkie, I don't sell my finds. I use them! Lol. They have an action and sound that just attracts them. ALSO, the older balsa top water prop baits with the thick and heavy stamped stainless steel props..... OMG! Fished slow...... bloop.... bloop.... bloop... Pause.....(Ripple)... bloop, bloop...
Mic sounds great! I’m from KY and fish dale and Cumberland a lot. I love punisher jigs. Not sure they’re still around. I bought so many years ago, i still have plenty. Haven’t looked if they were still around. I was in north side of Dale and bought a boat load.
Dale Hollow one Stop used to be the place to get local favorites. Silver Buddies, punisher craft hair jigs, snow spins, and Little George tailspins are all classics on Dale Hollow. California company but Big Hammer Swimbaits were popular there in the early 2000’s and still work for us today (before Keitech’s became the gold standard ) slow roll them over main lake weed flats and they will jerk the rod out of your hand.
The mic worked really well. Good day on the water today your right there in the hunt. Does anyone ever recognize you when you go to these little bait shops. Good luck Friday
I guess I looked at it too early. Probably meant money line but it sure changed since I looked at it earlier. Thanks for keeping me informed. Friday he’ll make it up.
See if Dale Hollow Tackle still open, really nice hair baits, Living in Southern KY about an hr from there, weather reports mean nothing, it changes every 6 hrs around here this time of year, Good fishing Matt
Might as well get some souvenirs & let them be fishing lures, those are really good one's, you did really good, hopefully you'll find them Friday & put a hurting on those boys!😂
When I travel and have a chance to check out tackle shops I find it hard to pass up local lures that look good. Like you I’ll find two or three lures that I’ll buy to try. Some are really good some may be okay and then some that just don’t catch fish or few. However, it’s always fun to find one that I knock them dead with. For those that impressed me I’ll order straight from the maker. It’s always fun to try them out. Speaking of jigs….. what are some of your favorite hair jigs for smallies and what size?
@@MattStefanFishing Glad you've heard of him. I'm in the PNW and stumbled onto his site. Very glad I did. Wish we had tournaments out this way that could draw the attention of great anglers like yourself.
I think that bug was a carpenter bee. Something else we have locally this time of year down here in the south. Next month they will be all over houses. We have our house treated every year so they don’t chew up the whole place.
Your in my old neck of the woods. Silver buddy has been around there for decades and used to buy them for $2 each in Sparta. Killed them on Center Hill and DH. However, I was waiting to see if some of the other local favs would show up in your video, but they aren't....good to know :P
@MattStefanFishing hey....off point, but do you know or understand the Dale Hollow Arig regulations? We are coming up in October for my 74th and want to try those umbrella rigs but we never have before and are unsure of the regulations.... Hey thanks
Went to Dale Hollow right after I began bass fishing in the late '60's when Billy Westmoreland was a household name in the bass fishing ranks. Went in December and didn't know a thing and got skunked, but I expected to.....
Surely you found k and e bass stopper worms . 3 hooked worm ran on a snap swivel . First found them years ago at Dale hallow marina . Parents camped across the street every year in the 70's
meet Buddy at the lily creek boat ramp this spring. ask me how i did fishing. after some small talk,he got in his trunk and gave me a sliver buddy and said give this a try. fished them before. told i would love it if he would go fishing with me and show me how he fishes it. he declined.😢 Buddy live in Russell Springs. It's really cool that you hit these local tackle shops and share what you find. These are good videos. Good luck in the tournament!

Billy West Moreland used to carry a little baggy full of different colors of raw hide that he attached to a hair jig.
