Dale Hollow...where the World's Biggest Smallmouth Bass was caught, back in, I think, 1971 or so. 11 Pounds, 15 Ounces. I'd love to catch a 12 Pound Smallmouth Bass. Then, I'd be the guy with the new World Record! Over the years, my biggest Smallmouth Bass was around 4 Pounds, so, for me, that ain't nothin' to sneeze at. He put up a great fight, so I'm good with it. Happy Trails to ya, friend, and I hope you do well, in not only your fishin' endeavors, but in life itself!
As a kid I spent five long summers camping on an island, fishing and water skiing on Dale Hallow. We put in at Mrs. Ranoes Holly Creek Fishing Camp. Wonderful memories.
Dale Hollow is fickle, but one of the most beautiful lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee and I’ve fished there since I was in my 20’s and that was 40 years ago.😜😎 Keep growing and keep casting ✊🍀🎣🍀
John , Thanks for sharing, I remember just being a boat length off the ramp and water depth was 20 foot deep and deeper. Great Smallmouth fishing, Get you a Silver Buddy and AC Shiner two of Billy Westmoreland favorite lures on Dale Hollow. God Bless.
Some days they are biting and some days ya just cannot figure it out. However, it was exciting to see your disposition heighten when you latched onto that 19 incher. Thanks for sharing, John and God Bless. That's why there's a next time.
I noticed at around 14:48 that you cast right over some fish. I’m excited to get my Old Town out. It’s finally getting warm here in IN and the bite should be heating up.
Alright, win some, lose some. Gonna be around 80 degrees Monday & Tuesday next week. Regroup and win on Chickamauga. Thanks for sharing and have a Blessed Day!!!
I fished Dale hollow once about 20 yrs ago. Tennessee side and Kentucky side. Beautiful Lake. 👍👍. Those cabins look like the one i stayed in. Right close to the docks. I'm thinking Wolf creek. Not sure. Been a long time ago.
I was fishing on the Brazos here in Texas one day and was fishing with a hellgrammite and didn't catch a thing. Then I just took the 1/16 oz weight off it and the first cast caught a fish and continued to catch them all day long. And all I did was take off that weight and fish it weightless. The little things like that count. You hung in there when a lot of people would just go home. Great show. Also, if I had a river that beautiful, I would just stay out there anyway.
Not one of your better tournaments, but most definitely a good opportunity to learn. I'm always impressed with the fact that you end every video on a positive note. What makes you more real than most RUclips fishing channels is that you're willing to share your good as well as your bad days with us. Trust me brother we've all been there at one time or another. But you came away with a positive attitude, you learned something new, and that makes you a better person and a better fisherman.
I was wondering when you'd get this video up...sorry it was not the best day. I was following along that day on TourneyX app and saw it wasn't going well. Lessons learned and they don't come cheap. I'm still watching the video, but wanted to jump on the comments. A bubblegum lemon swirl hellgrammite!! That one smallmouth kind of looked like it had freshwater drum back. Thank goodness for that glide bait catch...that was a beautiful bass! Glad you stayed positive, you know there's always a hand on your shoulder.
John....many years ago there was a bait Billy loved to use on Dale Hollow. In fact he was part in deisinging this particular bait. The lure was called a Pedigo-Spjnrite. I still have e two full cards that Billy gave me many years ago. It is basically and tail spinner similar to a little George but the difference was the unique head and tail dressing. Billy always like the white marabou and yellow marabou. He would basically throw these out on steep clay banks and main lake points. Very simular to how he fished his silver buddy blade bait. The spin rite was eventually bought out by Pradco. You can still find these baits online but very few of his originals are out there. I custom designed a mold years ago and had it cnc machined. Till this day it is one of my favorite baits to use in the winter time. Not many people fish this bait any more because of it availability. As stated I custom made a mold and tie them up myself. There is no telling how many tournaments I have won over the years with a pedigo spi rite.
I'm building my RUclips channel [guitar] and I'm actually using your channel for ideas. You're a real guy, doing real stuff. No click bait. No gimmicks. And, you keep it clean. I show your vids to my girls. I'm your neighbor kinda, I'm on Signal. Love these vids. I remember fishing DH with my dad. I'm super happy your channel has grown. Well deserved

And your character shines to those other anglers and they see a man who loves Jesus in the midst of them and to me, that’s a win!
Still iced over here. Went out to one of our best fishing spots just to see what was happening there. One lonely guy ice fishing. The bridge over the creek where it entered the reservoir had a bit of open water so we dropped down our Aqua-vu camera to see if anything was there. Not one fish was visible, not even a small one. The water was fairly clear still since the snow isn’t melting yet. I don’t think the guy on the ice was having any luck either.
Man you slayed them the day before the tournament, it's crazy how fish are from 1 day to next, you did what most of us would have done about switching areas, to fish, great video as always, hope you do great on chickamauga, I really Ike these tournaments you do!🎣
