Hi Julia another wonderful project, I do look forward to Fridays. The colours of the flower are beautiful and I am certainly going to use your very generous printout, thank you. I hope you are well and happy, send you all my love as always, big hugs and loves xxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻😘❤️🌟
Hi Julia, another stunning project! Just got home from showing at a craft fair in a Blizzard of Snow. WOW it is the end of April !. Hope your weather is better. TFS!
Hi Janet, April blizzards are no fun! I am glad you made it home safely. I hope you had a successful craft show. It is gloomy, grey and cool here-but no snow! Have a creative week! Julia
This is lovely! I’m so grateful for the tutorials you share. I particularly like that you showed the stitching in real time to start with, it helped me understand the process much better.
Hi Julia - This is so pretty and I love what it says. You create the best things. I know I say that a lot but you really do. Will have to make one of these. Happy Day!
Phyllis I think you'll find that was a ment to be a rubbecia flower not a corn flower which are blue or pink or you can get white ones too. Thought I'd better put you right. Take care and happy quilting to you. Liz.
Liz Marshman Hi Liz, Thanks for letting me know the correct name of the flower. I'm afraid my knowledge of flowers and their proper names is limited. I'm never too old to learn and I'll probably forget the poor rubbecia's name, but I still appreciate the knowledge and I certainly appreciate the wall hanging. Take care and we can continue to enjoy Julia's clever work. :-)
Hi Phyllis, Thank you so much for watching. It is always so good hearing from you. I'm not sure what flower it is. In the video, I call it a whimsical flower because I know the colors aren't right. I just like flowers! Have a great week. Julia
So sweet. I like this idea. Would it be easier to sew one layer of petals at a time? This is my next project. Just finished a quilt top, but it has been raining for days so I can't spread it out to spray baste it. (I need to do that outside.) If I get brave doing a couple small free motion projects, before quilting this queen sized quilt, maybe I will get out of stitching in the ditch!? Piece.
Hi Monica, Yes , sewing the petals one layer at a time would be easier:) Sounds like you have been busy! It's been rainy, grey and gloomy here too! Have a creative week, hope you have a chance to try this project!
Hi Julia, another cute project. I am intrigued as to why you are using freezer paper with the writing , as you used to just use a pen and write in your own handwriting and then sew over it. Is there a reason for this? You have nice handwriting anyway so this seems more labour intensive. Just curious. I always enjoy your sewing videos xx
Hi Hilary, Agreed, it is so much easier writing with Frixion pens, and sewing over it. I try to give viewers options. I will be going back to the easier method. Have a great week! Julia
Hi, Yes we are home and I am cleaning and organizing at my flea market shop. It is still really cool here so haven't gotten much done. We open at the end of May. I hope to get film a tour when I get set up. Thank you so much for watching! Julia
Hi Julia. Thanks for your inspirational projects and excellent tutorials. I have not used Golden GAC900 so was about to buy some from Amazon when I thought I’d ask you whether you can put a project thru the washing machine once its heat set? Thank you and keep up the videos. Love them 😘 Jo from England
Hi Jo, Here is a video that I did awhile back where I tested some different paints etc, with the fabric medium. I washed the pieces after washing. ruclips.net/video/UH-ZzA9md9I/видео.html
Hi Julia, thanks for the inspiring tutorials. Has the link changed, or is the pattern now available in your Etsy shop, as happy to buy it if no longer free. Thanks 😉
Hi Terry, Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I forgot to change the link on my video. Here is the new link, if you are still having trouble opening it, please let me know and I can send it to your email. Also, this is on a blog post and the free printable button is midway on the post. Enjoy! www.stitchesbyjulia.com/blog-stitchesbyjulia/free-motion-appliqu-sew-with-me
Hi Julia, I mentioned this on an older posting of yours ...so thought I'd repeat. I finally splurged and bought the 12x14 Gelli plate. I already have the cloth and gessoed and plain canvas Is that the original cotton canvas you got from your husband, or a new piece. thinking of picking one up at Home Depot or Lowe's. Are they pricey?
Hi Phyllis, Have fun with your 12 x 14! I haven't regretted my purchase. Do you have Menard's in your area? That's where I have found the cotton canvas drop cloths. So many of the hardware stores are switching to a cheaper material - almost burlap looking. I do wash the canvas before using it. It softens up. Hope this helps. Julia
Hi Julia, First let me appologize for the message I sent you. I use a keyboard with my iPad and no matter how careful I am in proofing what I send, it comes out missing punctuation and spacing and with extra letters at the end of a word. In answer to your question, yes, we have a Menards here. I'll check them. I like the crude look of the drop cloth. I have a great pattern for a barn owl that would look good on that canvas.
Hi Christine, Yes you can! You do need a free motion quilting foot or a darner foot. Also disengage your feed dogs. This is either by lowering them with a lever or covering them with a plate. I also set my stitch length to 0. I hope you give it a try- it's a lot of fun! Julia
I love it. Love it
Hi Marian, always great hearing from you!
