Interesting. I knew there was a whole lot of ‘fogginess’ around Randy’s demise, but never really heard much more about it. Certainly an intriguing, albeit tragic, set of circumstances. Curious if more will surface about the breakdowns that obviously occurred in that particular dynamic.

I can attest to people not thinking before buying exotics.
My brother is currently in the market for a lambo hurrcan...I am a fleet manager for a large care organisation so I am in the know on costs of repair and stuff.. I asked one of my contacts at lambo to give him a call and tell him how much it is just to maintain even the base model lambo. He also didn't expect the price to skyrocket when he added in the options he wanted. Exotics you pay for every option you choose no free bees ever.
But the big one was servicing cost. Between 5 and 10k every time because they need to always remove part of or the whole engine to repair, service certain things etc. It's such a tight space back in the engine that's the only way to do it bar an oil change and fluids.
Brakes don't last long 10k KMs (7.5k miles. Tyres too are super expensive because you need special sizes etc.
After I broke down the coating for one for one year. It added upto almost 50k a year in maintence. And that if something didn't break because their warranties are not like normal car either. They know their customers are going to go out on tracks, hammer the shit out of the car etc so the warranty period is short and limited. You have to pay for a bumper to bumper warranty and it isn't cheap 25k a least.
So yeah a lot of people wanna own one but don't think of this kind of stuff. They think it's just like a regular car and will be a few hundred to service it, everything will be somewhat affordable for it but they are shocked when they get their first service bill or repair bill. Brakes alone on these kind of cars can cost upwards of 50k disc and pad replacement. I have a Alpina B3 and the brakes are ceramic so I'm not looking fwd to changing those over....it'll be 10k easy. But I am prepared for it when it happens many don't think like me.
My brother at least listened to me and is now looking for something a bit easier to maintain but he's such a look at me type of dude he still wants one 😂😂.
@@UltraMagnis Indeed. I was pricing out a mercedes c 63 amg s model and part of my research was the cost of tires, brakes, and oil changes and then the monthly insurance. I can afford it but it's more than I care to spend maintaining a vehicle so decided against it.

100K transmission repair would be "ok" to me if I was on a racetrack downshifting at let's say 180mph. Blown transmission from killer gate is not acceptable!
As a "Swinging Driveway Gate" owner, you SUCK UP the looks and paint/place light-colored pavers as a "Warning Buffer" with signs (facing both directions) to minimize "Property Insurance Claims"!
And if you get hit, it’s not the “stupid gate’s” fault. Driver error, you should e paying attention in that situation…

Can someone update me on why Jim is posting videos on the Savage Garage channel? I thought Randy fired Jimbo and shortly after passed away. I though Randy's wife asked people not to be posting videos and such. Is there more to this story?
There is only one owner of Savage Garage Enterprises. Randall Tillim. Which by his passing becomes his wife's property. NOT his fired employee.

@@fskof what I heard was, Randy let Jimbo create and have the SG channel. However after Randy’s passing Randy’s family came out multiple times with statements sharing they wish to let SG alone and for Jimbo not to share anything further about Randy or his Family.
Jimbo has since disregarded Randy’s family’s wishes, and brought SG back and told Randy’s story.
Jimbo has since been posting really mediocre content to “keep SG alive@ when it should have been a Time Capsule of the legacy of Randy’s life.

That's like saying that your bussiness partner died and because of that you should close company that you two built because his family doesn't want you to continue. Doesn't make any sense to me. How does someone with a huge gate like that NOT paint a bright yellow line across the driveway demarking a safe distance from the arc of the gate and also put up a sign saying, "Stop Here For Gate"? That's just common sense.

There is an awful lot of I and we from a cameraman. Randy always seemed to be very real and honest, but some of the other elements that made it on the channel seemed to be immature hangers-on.
I felt the same way, “I, we” at the end of the day the cars belonged to Randy and he was the one taking on the financial burdens and responsibilities of them.
It's actually very very difficult to watch and very very common in the space. Luckily most people grow out of it.

I wonder if the owner of the Pagani ever considered filing an insurance claim on the property owners insurance for the gate causing the sequence of events that damaged the transmission and the cosmetic damage on the bumper. If there was no stop line on the driveway to show you where to stop to prevent the gate from hitting your car while waiting for it to open I would think they would have a case.

It seems like a reasonable price. You figure a new transmission with install in a car that costs 60k is probably around 4k, percentage wise 70k it's on par for the price tag of a 2 million dollar car

I know the VIN wiki channel has car stories to tell but a lot of these stories from Jimbo about Savege garage and what Jimbo has done to Randy's family. I will not be watching these videos I will stay tuned for any other videos from vin wiki though.

That cost is ridiculous, massively marked up over what is most likely very commonly used gearbox in motorsport. Let's remember the initial RRP on the first Pagani was £300k!

I half to laugh. I drive a 1995 Eclipse Turbo (US VIN) in Brasil. Rebuilt engine & turbo and fresh metal flake black paint. It still gets all the looks of a super car.

Jimbo has always been cringe. I watched the SG channel, but never loved it. Always felt like I was watching a group of people who weren’t really car guys, but wanted to feel included by the the real car guys. RIP to Randy, that’s terrible but I always felt that he thought he was the sh** and everyone else was levels below him, though.

$70k for an Xtrac synchromesh gearbox? No that’s called Pagani markup. You can get an Xtrac sequential for an F3 car or a WRC car for less than a quarter of what was spent on that Pagani’s gearbox.
He got totally shafted. Either way take the old gearbox and rebuild it. It would cost 5000 or less.
If you can’t afford the running costs, you can’t afford the car (or jet, yacht, mansion, etc).
Imagine having a 100K damage problems on a AMG motor that isn't even worth anything remotely close to 100K that motor is just a modified S65 motor something literally anyone can do for dirt cheap , if you go search there's literally some of it for sale for 10K USD , M158 motors the ones used in the Huayra , that's crazy
