I found this channel during Covid lock downs and I can’t believe how much I progressed from someone who struggled to get two in a row single skip to someone who can skip as a regular cardio option for 30 mins with all these tricks. Thanks for everything
That's awesome!!! That's what I like to hear! Do you want to share your transformation story? www.jumpropedudes.com/transformation Keep doing the thing! 💪🏻
I’ve been jumping for about 4 years now. The only trick here can’t do because I haven’t really tried before is the southpaws. New challenge for today’s work out! Thanks Dan 😁 Excited to give em a shot and do the thing
been jumping rope for a month and a half and just now started to fully learn the boxers skip. it is so worth it I cant wait to learn all of these tricks in this order
That's awesome. You're a fast learner so you'll pick 'em up fast. We have tutorials and lots of tips and tricks on our channel so use that! Do the thing!
agreed, I learned tons of variations, but these are my main go to skips, as wel as getting in the flow. or just having fun, working out wiithiut too much pressure/ thinking/ hassle... just constant movement
Love the style and those tricks that at the beginning it was so hard for me, because of lack of coordination and now, after 4 years, I dominate some and still goin' dude. Thank you so much 💪🔥❤️
The only one I have been struggling with is the south paw. Have been trying to get it right for over an year now but still not been able to. But not gonna stop till I get it right. Cheers brother 😎
WOW. I've been jumping rope for about 40 years, you'd think I'd be shredded but I agree that consistency is the key. I taught myself how to criss cross with a plastic rope from Herman's Sporting Goods but I use a leather jump rope now and I have some weight ropes which are great for footwork. I thought you were going to put links to the 5 types of jumps people need? I have been unable to do the side swings and also do squats while jump roping.
Thank God for this video I was like whoa wayyy to many moves mind overloaded need to just focus on the basics almost have boxer step down learned the single side swing trying to then learn the double side swing then go from there. Baby steps I didn't realize how important boxer step and footwork was until I was just doing the basic jump you get worn out with the basic jump soo fast because of all that work on both calves whereas the boxer step you can let your calves rest more between each step allowing you to skip longer! I used to HATE cardio I would lift weights only and do circuit sets to mix cardio into it and then just the cross country machine yeah with jump rope! no more of that crap it's fun to do and I am always wanting to learn more. Truly appreciate the video!
While I await the arrival of my new ropes I’ve been using one I just got online and today I discovered something. In a short 10 minutes I went from 12 jumps without tripping to 28. ( back after a calf muscle tear). While this is nothing to most it’s huge for me. The discovery is that jumping rope is somewhat addictive. You can instantly see progress, it’s exciting. I lift weights as well of course but that’s not exciting, it’s something I need to do to live longer and be leaner but jumping rope is a skill that generates instant rewards because even 15 more jumps today than yesterday is a milestone.
Totally agree. I might even remove south paws. To me, it depends on your goal. I stopped focusing on tricks when i decided to recommit to fitness and wellbeing. Tricks are for show, let's be honest. If the goal is to perform, do tricks and post on social media, do those. If you really wanna focus on fitness, keep it basic. Less injuries.
I heard Dan or Brandon on another video say that tricks aren't necessary to get fit. That helped me relax with jumping rope and not feel like I wasn't doing enough when I only did the basic jump.
@SB-ol8zz the reason i mostly learned some tricks because of quarantine and had a lot of time back then. It's nice to challenge yourself now and then but that's one problem I saw. It's like jumprope FOMO. I've seen people get injured trying to keep up and it defeats the purpose. All i will say is you do you. Know your goal and intent and stick to it. 😊
For sure! Great advice, when I skip on my own, I mostly basic bounce 🤷🏻♂️ Tricks are fun for people who like a challenge and something to keep them entertained and striving for more. You've got to find what works for you.
I’ve been jumping rope for 3 months now , at the beginning I started losing weight but now I’m in a plateau even though I’m in a calorie deficit and intermittent fasting, it’s really frustrating and but I still love jump rope it’s the best workout I can do, due to my busy schedules
@@JumpRopeDudes Sometimes I strength train but most of the times I do cardio And yes I do eat a lot of protein , the other thing I noticed is recently I’ve be eating a lot of fried potatoes and it’s probably what causes my stagnant metabolism

@@DunnisOlaniyanif your counting weight on a scale you might be gaining muscle which is a-okay muscle is heavier than fat and you’ll probably feel more athletic being, say, 160lb of muscle than 160lb of fat
The 1st I really want to master is the southpaw, looks super cool. In my case about the criss cross, using the green rope shown her I can do them but sprinting at the same time it's a challenge, what I did was switched to the blue color rope and magically iI can sprint and criss cross at the same time, as the blue one is heavier, understanding my own speed was fundamental to master the movement. I suggest paying good attention to that, which will save a lot of frustration and also slashing yourself with the rope. Good skipping.
Great tips, you're right about how heavy ropes really help you nail moves thanks to the feedback! Did you see this tutorial on the south paw? ruclips.net/video/dcn2QfqN6M0/видео.html Hope it helps! Do the thing 💪🏻
SImilar case here, the blue one being heavier provides a good reference for speed and pace. I switched to the green over wanting to go faster and still working on it.
It's a timing thing, and alternating feet, harder than it looks! This really lays it out step by step: ruclips.net/video/1-KvIEU03yc/видео.html Hope it helps!
Thank you very much! I took an hour to practice that video and it certainly helped! I'm still a little wonky with the rhythm and my shins are little sore, but I'm telling you the tips you shared in that video helped me to understand what I needed to adjust to vastly improve.
South paws were by far the most challenging for but thank God I can switch between those moves now. This channel has really help me to lose weight and stay in shape. Thanks Dan!
i can do all of them except double unders. probably because i am still overweight or im just really dumb getting the timing lol but still trying to do some double under drills whenever I have my cardio session. still hoping to get a single successful double under ever since i started jumping rope. Still having trouble consistently doing jump rope every day I can be at work 14 hours a day and the air quality here is not the greatest for hit Training any suggestions?
Oh man, that's hard. I would not workout where air quality isn't good. You'll just have to make the most of your time outside of work. Keep workouts short and intense! Keep doing the thing!
@JumpRopeDudes your 20 min workout with dumbells kicked my but the other day I started trying to do 2 of your 10 min workouts the days I can do it. Sadly this was easier when I was a truck driver
Trick #6…..Rather than jumping in one spot, draw the figure 8 on the ground n practice moving laterally while whipping a trick occasionally. Figure skaters do this as an Olympic event. Most of all…..have fun n “Just Whip It” 🕺 🎶 🔥 ➰💃💯
I hate crossovers. I still don’t have them mastered and by backside takes the beating everytime I fail to nail it. I’m not one to quit but this is really not happening for me.
