Thanks for this video. Even though it's just such a simple thing, as a new drone owner I needed to see someone else doing it once, before I trusted myself enough to touch the drone. I´m sure some people can relate, It's just a better feeling. :-)
This video really helped me. I would have never noticed the markings between the A and B motors. I knew they were important, but it was not clear until I saw your video. Thank you!
Thank you for not removing this video, miss judged a tree yesterday (yes i know very embarrassing) so now just waiting on new props to arrive from DJI. And this video has been a god send, thank you.
Thank you, I watched 5 other beginning videos that never mention this. They all should just state this important blade configuration requirement, it takes 20 seconds to explain.
I just had an accident today. Blades were not broken, but showed paint scuff marks and tint nicks. I flew it in an orbit mode to check all systems. After watching your video (excellent presentation BTW) I just changed out the props. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing your playlist. Thanks.

Thank you for this. I searched how to change a prop on the dji mini and boom, this video came up. Literally helped me out so I had to say thank you. First crash... first prop change.
Thank you SO much! I had just replaced one of the rotors after a crash and had taken all the propellors off so they wouldn't get in the way as I was taking the main cover off. When I put the propellors back on, not knowing this info you supply, I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't take off. Followed your info and now I'm back in business!
I watched this video and didn’t change the screws on this videos recommendation. No more than 3-4 flights after switching blades, my DJI Mini 2 threw a blade at takeoff (luckily at takeoff and not mid flight). On inspection, one screw completely came out and the other was VERY loose. Lesson learned (and thankfully without damaging my poor baby). USE THE NEW SCREWS, folks!
Hey Russ - thanks for the clear, concise information on how to swap out props on the Mini 2. I was switching to a set of Master Airscrew props and, due to the fact that there are no overtly clear indications on the blades (I needed a magnifying glass to finally locate the bumps on the prop shafts), I was a little unsure whether my placement was right or not. I like Master Airscrew blades because they're a bit quieter than stock and offer marginally longer flight times, but the props I chose are an opaque color and it was REALLY difficult to discern the correct fitment. Even checking the warp profiles didn't offer much of a clue. Thank goodness I found your video. Now I'm confident my Mini 2 is airworthy and I'm going to do a flight test today. Once again, thanks for the great video. Liked and Subscribed!
Very useful video. I changed the propellers, without knowing that there are A and B sides. After I found out, I took the drone and checked it out. I was very lucky because I accidentally hit the right side. Completely by accident.
Didn't realize I don't have to remove the props to install my new prop guards. Tried to takeoff after installation, and the thing promptly tried to start skittering sideways on a lean. Figured I'd jumbled up the props (thankfully I actually had indeed noticed the positive extrusions denoting differing props) but needed the proper configuration to be shown to me. Thank you greatly!
Nobody should be laughing at this content or your reason for doing it- A lot wouldn’t know that there is 2 types of props and motors that rotate in different directions - Put the props on the wrong way (Which you can) and your drone won’t even fly and may even get damaged as the drone may flip onto its side - Great content and a really relevant and important vid - Appreciate your accurate, relevant and honest reviews - Thanks 😊
Thanks for the informative video 👍😊 Even though it's a simple operation, I wanted to reassure myself. Been a new flyer for 7 months and just broken my first pair of props 😖
Thanks. Returned from flying today, where I had noticed that the blades sounded much noisier than previously. May change my blades to see whether this remedies the noise.
Hey Russ...Liked your info on the prop changing procedure (as well as your flying of the Mini 2). Just a thought or two on "why" to change out both props instead of one. While only one prop may have failed, the other might have received some unseen/microscopic damage that will show up on another flight. Another reason, the prop pair are possibly a balanced set (ask the RC folks about this). I'm not sure if DJI goes to the expense or trouble of balancing a pair of props, but if they do, it another very good reason to change out the pair. Cheers...
This is a great video Thank you so much I needed this because my mini 2 crashed .. Even with the guards on the prop broke.. also the little rubber handle that's on the gimbal broke off Do you have a video to show how to replace that?? 🙏🙏🙏
Not really... A noob should not reuse screws on a this type of propeller... The screws comes with locktight. If not fasten correct the blades will fly everywhere... Also the way the are mounted its more then likely they are bent if you damage a propp and will cause imbalanced props even if the blades are new...
Great vid I didn’t know about the a and b and the little bump so thanks for that. A little note though about the screws...after reading some comments I would definitely change the screws as the new ones come with new glue bits on the end to hold them in place. This video helped me so thank you
Hi, it would be interesting to check if mini 2 propellers works on mavic mini 1. Mini 2 propellers are stiffer and quieter, so it could be a nice upgrade for original mini. I know that official dji website says that the cannot be used, but anyway...
No they are not compatible. The mini 1 has thinner and a lot more flexible propellers. The mini 2 has a firmer propeller that doesn’t flex that much. (because the mini 2 has stronger engines)
@@alexisluna8740 Thanks for your reply. I lost my mini 1 a month ago and now I have three sets of props, a remote, a battery charger and no drone. At least I can use the batteries as a powerbank.
@@alexisluna8740 well yes but will they fit? It's the same size and pitch. But have the changed anything with the screws?!? Using carbon props on my mini because the original is not stiff enough to avoid proppstrikes into the body.. but mini 2 props is probably a better choice since lower noise etc. If they would fit... You can use stiffer props on a less power full motor but flexing props an a more powerful motor is not good... using mini 1 props on a mini 2 would be bad... So they might have changed something so you can't mix :-/
Thanks you your vids helped me alot.. can I ask you a question about my mini se it will motivate yaw quick it takes like 15 sec to do 360° on sport mode
Thank you for the video. I've seen a recommendation to put a small amount of loctite on on the propeller screw - what do you think? Do the screws come loose if not? I noticed a fine indentation groove on the top of the A arms near the propeller attachment with a similar curve to the bump on A propellers. So, I made the groove more apparent by marking with a very fine black marker in the groove which may help me remember which propeller set goes where.
I just have to comment in case you see this. I’m being a dumbass and not reading the manual with my new drone. Spent the better part of the last four hours recalibrating since it’s not flying properly after I crashed and broke a blade. Every single comment you are making along the way just has my mom cracking up in the background because you’re answering all my questions perfectly.
Prop balance. There's a chance that the 2 blades might be out of balance if one is newer than the other, causing noise from oscillations which can affect the gyro thus causing potential flight performance issues. Will it be a problem 100%? No, probably not. I get why DJI is recommending both blades get swapped. Great video, super exciting to see this massive improvement in the mavic mini. Fantastic value for new camera drone pilots!
Hello, thanks for your video ! I was just looking at the replacement propellers that were in my DJI bundle, and realized the code was different that the ones installed. i would recommend change them in pair of 8. only replace single blade in emergncy, since blades are plastic they strech while flying, that makes plastic become softer so if you change single blade it may generate more force than others which could result in instabilty.
Thank you for the reassurance that I will be doing it correctly when the time comes. When you said that you reuse the old screws, do you put thread lock on them first or just reuse the old ones without any? I also agree with you it could be a hand-over from the other DJI Mavic drones, as they have prop's which have blades connected to a common hub. It is possible to replace a blade on that type of hub, but not recommended, as it can weaken the prop. However, the Mini uses a different type of prop' set with individual blades. I'd expect the production quality to be more than sufficient to allow you to replace just the broken blade in a pair ... HOWEVER - if the Mavic has been in a position to damage one blade, it is highly likely that the second blade following close behind has also hit the obstacle (what-ever), and sustained damage. That's the logic in the 'replace both' argument ... The bottom line is - are you prepared to lose your drone for a couple of dollars' worth of prop's???
thank you for this I notice my one of my props has a slight chip I noticed after my flight. It took off normal and flew normal no effect to any of my flight. should I replace ? its a tiny tiny chip

I haven't seen a lot of attention paid to the fact that Mini 2 also now supports Galileo satellites in addition to GPS & GLONASS. I wonder how much this will help the precision of Mini 2 landings? (Since it appears landing positioning is all satellite-based, still, as opposed to Mavic Air 2, etc)

Hi, I tried to change the propellers but after changing just one, the screws of the others were just too tight to open (unscrew) and the tiny screw driver started to wear off and I had to stop. Do you have a solution to that? Thanks

hello dji recommends replacing the screws always with new ones because these screws contain loctite glue on the thread

When you get the drone new the prop screws have blue thread locker on them. Use it and new screws too.
