is there a problem with performance of the program when using various layer states applied to various different viewports?

I have an issue where I will apply layer states inside viewports of all my sheets in a dwg, but when I reopen that file the later states are not assigned, and I have to restore them all again. Is there a way for the viewports layer state to be saved, for the next time I open? It's tedious to restore them every time I want to plot
