Excellent, facilities that I should have explored myself years ago. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips, i got my first job as an autocad operator and none of those commands are thought by my professors. Most of my time are consumed managing the layers, this is really helpful!
Thanks man!
I've got LAYMCUR set to "AC" in acad.pgp and have a custom command in the startup suite to save a click or two in LAYMCH mapped to "AX" that defaults the target layer to current.
;quick layer change
(defun c:AX ()
(command "LAYMCH" pause "" "" "")
)
good & quick explain👌
F brilliant! Cheers!!
thanks

very nice. Thank you
Not a problem! Thanks for watching and the comment!
Adam Roder,
I see you are setting up an alias in the pgp file to "make the object's layer current" command "LAYMCUR" = "AC" and the "match" layer alias, in the pgp file set to "AX".
What does the rest of your suggestion do? Please explain further.
Great video! I learned some great stuff about layers. Some constructive criticism- I found the embedded video of you in the corner very distracting but that’s just my opinion :-)
Brandon, why don't you use the industry standard AIA Layers? Also, you should take a look at the UDS (Uniform Drawing System) standards.
Hey Kevin
Good question!
I do use AIA or NCS standards and layers in some of my content and I teach/use the AIA layers in my AutoCAD fundamentals course course. But I don't typically in these quick videos for a few reasons, one is that they tend to be viewed from a lot of countries around the world and in my country, Canada. In particular, while AIA is pretty popular, there are other options including a Canadian standard PSPC which is similar to AIA. And then depending on the industry, many industries and agencies tend to require their own layer, naming conventions or standards, so for these short videos I tend to not use any and just the default layers as much as possible to avoid explaining or any confusion as much as possible. That's not to say I probably won't do more using AIA since it is pretty popular as well as some of the other standards around the world.
I have seen and come across UDS before, including the occasional question/comment, but have never really looked too much into it. In my day job I tend to be tied to our (Canadian)various ministry/ government required standards and/or city requirements, but UDS does look interesting.
Hi your show is awesome and best wishes,
Is there any way to link from one text to another text within the same sheet? My intention is to move to the next text location which is linked to the present text. I tried with hyperlink, but it is only possible to link a sheet to the respective text. Kindly help to have a solution. Thank you.
match prop. vs match layer, are they different?
