The Bigme S6c is never far from reach and used every day. It mostly gets used for observations about my yard and garden. But other notes and stuff as well.
It's a pretty good 7.8 inch reader as well.

Many people mistakenly compare an ink tablet to an iPad or other tablets. However, there is a significant difference between them, and the ink tablet is not intended to fully replace an iPad. In fact, those who purchase an ink tablet typically do not desire an iPad. They may already own one or simply have no interest in owning one at all.
One of the key distinctions between an ink tablet and an iPad is the primary purpose they serve. While an iPad is designed to be a versatile device that can handle a wide range of tasks, an ink tablet is specifically designed for handwriting and sketching purposes. This makes it a preferred choice for individuals who prioritize a seamless and natural writing experience.
Moreover, the ink tablet offers a unique set of features that cater to the needs of artists, designers, and creative professionals. With advanced pressure sensitivity and precision, it allows users to create detailed and intricate drawings or illustrations. This specialized functionality sets it apart from the iPad, which may not provide the same level of precision and accuracy for artistic endeavors.
Furthermore, the ink tablet provides a distraction-free environment for those who solely want to focus on their writing or drawing. Unlike an iPad, which often offers various applications and internet connectivity, the ink tablet eliminates these potential distractions and allows users to concentrate solely on their creative work. This feature appeals to individuals who value simplicity and minimalism in their creative process. When I first discovered ink tablets, I was primarily interested in using them for note-taking and reading PDF files. I specifically wanted a tablet that didn't have the distractions of an iPad or a regular tablet.
The first ink tablet I came across was the remarkable 2, which I purchased, tried out, and enjoyed. However, I ultimately returned it due to the absence of a backlight and the requirement of a subscription for certain features to be functional. Instead, I opted for the supernote a5x. I used the supernote a5x for several months and was quite pleased with it. It had a backlight and didn't require any additional payments. However, I found that writing and taking notes on the supernote screen didn't quite match the experience of using the remarkable tablet.
I wasn't satisfied with it, so I decided to sell it and try the Onyx Boox Tab Ultra C. It was exciting during the first week with its "color screen" and the ability to download Android apps. However, I quickly grew tired of it when I downloaded Outlook, Teams, Notion, and other apps. The constant notifications from these apps became overwhelming, and I found myself constantly exploring new apps on the tablet. I realized that I wasn't being productive with it.That's when I started questioning why I even needed an ink tablet in the first place. What was my actual need for searching for the perfect ink tablet? Then, it dawned on me. I initially looked for an ink tablet because I wanted a distraction-free device without blue light that I could use for taking notes at work. I was tired of staring at screens all day, so I needed an ink tablet where I could take notes and read PDF files. In the end, I went back to the Remarkable 2, which was the perfect ink tablet for my specific needs.
Apologies for any mistakes in my English writing. It is not my native language.

Very important video. I see many people getting frustrated about Remarkable because they are expecting a fully featured tablet, and that is understandable given the price tag (thanks to Kaleido monopoly of e-ink). Nonetheless, Remarkable is amazing for what it was set to do: to replace your notebooks, sketch paper, random notes, and the absurd amount of printing we all have in our lives. Supernote fits a similar block, with more focus on QoL features for writers. And Onyx Boox is the closest you will get to an iPad with e-ink.

On phone w client, quickly mentioned a project and I really didn’t have time to create a new page in my Remarkable so I wrote it in an existing note and later circled it copied created a new note and pasted it from clipboard. Thanks for setting it straight for me. I’m immersed in the Apple ecosystem and this answers my question about Remarkable. Your on point about this device being only good for one thing and that’s exactly what I want. Back to basics of my handwritten notes and lists all in one device. The IPad and my MacBooks serves the rest.

I’m trying to make this very decision and really appreciated this video. I’m just going back to school and have been considering remarkable for textbooks and pdfs, as well as note taking. I also like that it syncs with OneDrive which is really important.
I feel like my laptop and iPhone take care of what the iPad would offer over a remarkable side by side, although I agree with you that sometimes it’s still nice to have that jack-of-all trades product.
But I’ve noticed your reviews of the R2 haven’t said it’s great for reading. So two questions:
    1. For my use case, what would you recommend?
    2. Is there a better e-ink option that also syncs with OneDrive?

While the Remarkable is a very good device, I usually reach for the Scribe for note taking because of the front lit screen. I imagine a student might prefer the Remarkable for longer note taking. Brandon has clear diction, no weird accent or robot voice but- at 0:50, the Closed caption says how "different these two devices" are.
But doesn't he pronounce it as " three devices" ?
    ...anyone else hear that?

What irks me the most about the ReMarkable 2 is that you don't see the colors of your highlighter or colored pens. I love to color-scheme my notes, it helps me to highlight important words or sentences etc. So it probably the iPad for me.

Well, although I have an old iPad, I have not one but two reMarkables because I can't stand the idea of, if something bad happens (like a broken screen) I would not have my fav device! So I have a spare one, boxed and unwraped, just in case... yes I could buy some anxiety pills, but that wouldn't help me in getting my work done!
Flaws? May be... I would rather call it idiosincracies... Yes, the upstairs fake curvacious blonde may be more flashy, but I would rather come to a petite brunette wife that is charming and can cook and doesn't have a strident voice!

Want the best pure-note-taking experience? Just use a pen and a notebook. Want the most sophisticated and practical note taking experience? Just get an iPad and use Goodnotes/Notability.
The reMarkable 1/2 are pointless. It’s funny how you relate the reMarkable to a more “professional” experience. Yeah, lol. I haven’t seen a single person making any money with it. Cannot say the same with the iPad.
