- Since she joined the World Tour of surfing as a wildcard at just 17, Stephanie Gilmore, now 29, has lived most of her life on the road. ❤ hi :) its months later and im just calling from a little up the coast while holding a boombox over my head with the phone in front of me, playing 'you are so beautiful' by joe cocker :) i am not sure that it has the same 'oomph' as 'in your eyes', but maybe its better, i dont know :) in any case, its a good soundtrack to dream of being at the mermaid country club, you know, just chilling and having fun, slow mo visages of snapping each other with towels after a sesh, and stuff like that, and other such general fun. good times. damn good times :)

❤ hi :) yep, its me, again, for like the gazillionth time watching this video, having my own little malibu mermaid moment, and dreaming and wondering what i would be doing if i was there, instead of here, in the cold, alone, and doing what i can bring myself some inspiring cozy. firstly, those electronic drums would be pumping out some early cure seventeen seconds / faith sounding tracks, starting with the forest, and some joy division / new order beats, blue monday probably for a start, or maybe she's lost control, and maybe some depeche, world in my eyes, then onto myriad other beats :) secondly, id be paddling out at that lil break in front of the house regardless of how 'good' the waves are, just to get wet and take some drops, and maybe pull into some close out tubes, until i get reminded of how careful i need to be and maybe just paddling around would be enough :) also, it took me the zillionth time of watching this to notice the white cone yamaha speakers in the closet on the upper shelf (i was likely distracted by you and a plethora of bikinis :) but anyway, those are great speakers, if indeed they are the yamahas. you have excellent music gear taste, showcased further by that number 5 jazzmaster :) in any case, i just called to say i love you, stevie wonder style, even though i could truly go the rest of my life and never hear another stevie wonder song, and be totally good with it, and i mean that from the bottom of my heart :)

❤ hi steph steph :) you don't know me, but i miss you so dang much :) (also, i cant help but wonder how your surfing has been without my coaching / cheering from the beach 📣, and if you miss me too) i might be surfing down in your area soon, and maybe, just maybe, the fates will be kind and introduce us (even though you are probably in hawaii or australia), so we can surf together, and maybe, just maybe, once you discover how extraordinarily and surprisingly, and nonchalantly cool i am, i might receive a nice invitation to jam some tunage (and maybe get to try one of your myriad surfboards) at the mermaid country club :) until then, i will just keep watching these same videos of you that ive seen a gazillion times, but still very much enjoy, as if watching for the very first time, every time (🤮wow, sometimes i even make my own self sick). anyway, be good, have a great summer, high school yearbook entry style, even though its winter, unless you are in AUS, and keep shredding (as if you're going to do anything else, like, not shred, and kook out, for instance) 😊

Isn't she from the Gold Coast?? It blows my mind so many top WSL surfers purchase a home in California when they hail from iconic world class waves. California is nice but far from ideal if developing your potential rail game is your priority. Could it be that we have more surf "lifestyle" than champion producing wave setups? Malibu is fun but it ain't no Super Bank!

She probably has a number of homes, at prime locations. A good investment for when her career ends.

❤ im still currently in the increasingly cold pacific northwest, and how much would i like to be surfing with you wherever you are, or maybe at the mermaid country club, where surfing could be followed by leisure and some new order, cure, siouxsie, smiths, and other cover song productions :) maybe some of those songs could be used for some of your surf video edits, or is that presumptuous? either way, playing music in and of itself would be joyous enough, regardless if anyone else hears them. then back to more surfing, then a little more leisure, some tunage, then some rest from all the activity and leisure. wow, im tired just writing about it. anyway, i am trying to get my broheim mr. merrick to situate me with a couple of durable sticks to shred, and so far we are brainstorming (or i am anyway :) in any case, new tires on the roadster has me one step closer to warm mermaid infused california seshes :)
