Absolutely love her place. A testament to what Cicero said - "If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need." I guess I will never be a minimalist, no way will I ever get rid of my books.
to be fair, minimalism isnt about letting go of everything, but about getting rid of things you dont really love, so you could keep your books and be a minimalist
I almost joined the minimalist bandwagon. Put all my books in boxes and asked my husband to give to charity. My husband looked at me and said 'no way, this is not you, you will regret this, you adore all your books'. Thank God I listened!
reading The Lonely City now, in my small Brooklyn bedroom lit by rose-tinted lights. I have books around me on shelves that double as wardrobes and dips of silence that doubles as healthy self-company.
this is my favorite series on the entire internet. I always look forward to one of these. I thought you guys discontinued this series for some reason. Glad I was proven wrong.
It's such a pleasure to see a passionate environment that is not minimalist but includes all things that have so much meaning. She is lucky to have the room and shelves! Beautiful because it reflects her/them. I LOVE all the art!
What a lovely little world she and her husband have created for themselves! Absolutely loved it! I am a minimalist in almost every sense of the word, but when it comes to my books- there simply can never be too many! An ever expanding library is an ever expanding mind. I too hope to have my own "book house" like her husband's someday.
“You have to defend it, sometimes against love”. So true. So far, I haven’t been successful, and squeeze in my soul where I can. But I admire and revere those who can. With me, I get pregnant with a painting , or poem, or writing and then it’s a fever I must unleash. I know, I know. But it’s true for me.
The Maximalism of Minimalism. The spaces are cohesive, conducive to work and mind wandering, well loved and lived in, beautifully utilized, well organized, peaceful yet energizing 💕💕💕
I met Olivia Laing at the LRB Bookstore where she was interviewing Luke Turner. I bought his book and asked her to sign my copy of her book Crudo, which she did; I was delighted. But I must have pissed her off somehow because a week later she blocked me on Instagram.
This is the house supposed to be... It reflects the characteristics of the occupants.. It's full of soul.. Thers no hint of pretentiousness and show-offness..Nowness indeed.. coz they live thr to accommodate their own satisfaction and not to show and impressed people. That's more appealing!!!
Please, never stop this series. It's like a beautiful escape to a magical land.
I feel the same.. No pretentiousness... This channel is more relatable than Quintessense
Agree😌✨👌🥰

I agree but i also need a fridge :)
Smith Js A fridge is good, too :)
One thing, beautiful, but, I don't want to clean this place, not even on a professional basis, nope.
@@silkegehtyoutubegarnichtsa892 I was thinking the same thing.

Oh my... that’s a good man.
thank GOD u married him!
I don't think that's what minimalism is all about
It seems you didn't understand minimalism at all.
Why would you try to get rid of something you love? Good thing that people in our lives set us straight sometimes :)
The way they looked at each other in the end. Magical.

Her place is a dream of mine, she's like a dream of mine. Beautiful, I like this series.
This was absolutely delightful. I love their hose and garden. They are so charming. Refreshing in this day and age. Thank you.

Thank god a new episode.....PLEASE PLEASE keep em coming! Best series on youtube!
This fairy-type of style is my favorite. Similar to Florence Welch's home 😊
San Boo yes! her house is fantastic. keep rewatching that vid.
🌸
Olivia it is not selfish to make art. It is an act of love, and has the power of benediction for whoever receives it.
Books create the most coziness and warmth in every interior.
As a perfume fanatic, I love seeing her bathroom cupboard! I see she has some refined taste in that department too. Love this video and series!
She's lovely.
I adore this woman! Her books are so important to me. Charming house. Books everywhere. Perfect!❤
Great, thanks for this episode. Olivia Laing is a truly inspiring person. Appreciated.
just beautiful and yet so normal in a certain way, just look at the kitchen
Hello beautiful, how are you doing?
Truly, I could live in that book shed!
It's awesome she has so many books but it could use some plants and colour in there to liven the place up. It is too drab in my opinion.
love this series so much! Always leaves me feeling calm and inspired. I can hear me saying to myself: wow life is beautiful.
same!!!
Aah how lovely.. I love my books and stashing things away... Perfection
All those books! 📚 This was absolutely lovely.

Ian's poetry library is a place I could spend the rest of my life in, and die happily.
Beautiful tour, thank you. I was given the garden against time yesterday and I just can't put it down.

Fan of the large cologne collection and picture of Rimbaud by the tub
Amazing and calm
That poet's library!!! Oh, that's my dream realized.
What a lovely home! 😇
I love Olivia Laing, such a great writer.
Love her beautiful artistic spaces and her fashion sense- how she styled a floral silk blouse over a black cotton t-shirt.
I met Olivia Laing at the LRB Bookstore where she was interviewing Luke Turner. I bought his book and asked her to sign my copy of her book Crudo, which she did; I was delighted. But I must have pissed her off somehow because a week later she blocked me on Instagram.

Very and very beautiful, thank you so much. But how to clean that space, so many paints and books, i have 100 times less and am still straggling...
I am sorry to say that I don't know who she is, but now I want to read her books!

Lovely!

Was the VHS archive footage or filmed with VHS/overlay effect? Really like the shooting style of your channel.
This is the best
Sweet and beautiful.
1:47 ben whishaw !!
The question never asked in such places: have you actually *read* all those books? And do you (still) remember what is in them?
Do we know the name of the soundtrack song? Lovely!
Nooo, perfumes deteriorate from light and temperature changes ! Don't keep them in the bathroom, they need to be in darkness and cooler temperature
will always prefer minimalism but walking into that garden and then sitting down at that library must be a dreammmmm. ugh
that's the garden of my dreams.
They are darling
is that a picture of ben whishaw wearing her dress at 1:47 ?

The best place for pages and pages and pages and pages and blooms
I must know what sort of watch she is wearing. Where can I get one?
Swatch ?
The visual effect is disorienting and distracting rather than enhancing...
