The most common reason for no voltage is operator error; make sure you continue to hold the start switch in "start" for about 10-15 seconds AFTER the engine has come up to full speed. This is necessary to flash the field and begin power generation.
How big is your air compressor? An -002a will not start a 7.5HP single phase motor; it runs the cheaper 5HP peak motors commonly seen at the big box stores with no problem, but it is just barely enough to run a true 5 HP compressor. Lights, power tools, etc. are no problem. It will even run my millermatic 251 up to about 18v and 280 ipm (enough to weld 1/4" plate).
I get a lot of these with sticky linkage on the injection pump; usually a lot of penetrating oil and cycling from zero to full throttle will free it up. The shaft that passes through the IP is where the binding usually occurs...
No, the -002a is too small for my shop. I have some pretty big loads, so I use an -004a converted to single phase. It will run about 90% of my shop, enough to get by on.
I bought a 006a (628 hrs, gsaauctions.gov) - $2330, $1000 to ship- Extensive water had gotten into the engine through the vertical exhaust pipe (stupid design). As I dug into the engine, it wasn't long and I was removing linears. Good thing, the 6059T engine without a coolant filter with a cathode plate these linears commonly get a hole in the linears at the orings (know this as a diesel engine mechanic in the past). So new linears, rings, closed it up ($1600), and replace the starter switch ($55) on the panel and it fired right up. The next problem was no AC output. Then read on this post, hold start switch for 10-15 seconds, and then there was power. Modifications I am making to the unit are 1) remove all panels to make a lower mobile platform, 2) relocate the exhaust with a downward pointing pipe, and 3) remote mount the control panel. The remote mounting of the control panel will require extending the wires on the two control box plugs. All and all this is a lower cost then the 10kW generator we bought that was underpowered for our product development needs. Thanks for the videos. I should have started one.
I just got 2 mep002a 1 runs with no problems, got lucky. 2nd one the governor doesn't seem to be working, when I try to start it I have to push down on the governor shaft a little bit as I try to start it then it starts and runs great????? The solenoid seems to work, goes up and down when I turn it on and off. any help would be grate. thanks
Hi, I bought two 10 kw's on a trailer. They both start good, but the power and hertz are very little. Good odds! Is there a troubleshooting page on these somewhere? Thanks
I sprayed every moving part and all seems to be free. noticed when I try to start it, when the solenoid raises up to let the throttle linkage move the throttle jumps all the way up till I push it down a little and it will starts. then it goes down to its normal running area moving up and down as I set the engine speed. is there an adjustment iam missing to stop it from going to max speed when it trys to start, even when I have the throttle set as low as it will go.
So you are saying that the engine will not start unless you reduce the throttle setting by pressing down slightly on the linkage... If this is the case then you likely have a damaged injection pump; plunger is probably sticking in the compressed position when the throttle is at full.
The bad thing about diesel generators is that you have to have a supply of diesel. Diesel will last about a year, even if you put stabilizer stuff in it. I prefer natural gas. That is hurricane proof and you don't have to store it. It's there when you need it. This diesel generator sounds like a D8 Bulldozer. I hope his subdivision doesn't have a noise ordnance. My .02 worth.
Current market is over $2000 and rising. The military generators are some of the highest quality generators you can buy. They offer longevity combined with an almost flawless flow of electricity and safety features.
Great camera work!
It is more of a hobby than anything else...I repair and resell a couple of these each year.
What do you sell them for running and working?

The technical manual for the 10kw is TM 5-6115-585-12. Troubleshooting should be in chapter 3.

It is supposed to go to full throttle at startup; this shows that the governor is working properly.
What battery group size do you use. How many cca does it require? Thanks

I am getting one of these from a DRMO auction, what is the fuel consumption rate.
0.57 GPH at 5kw load.
Is there a way to contact you other than here? Have some questions on a MEP 802A got some issues maybe you came across
Hello, I need to know timing pump

You know nothing about diesel do you? you are confusing diesel with gas buddy.
D. Hansel no matter how long diesel lasts I agree I'd rather have propane it exempts you from dirty carb fuel related issues
What you do if gas line is broken by hurricane or what you do if gas pressure is dropped becouse hurricane destroyed gas pumping station?
I have tested 30 years old dry a dark stored Diesel and it still fired up (you have to filter bevofre through a fabric thats all)
@@michaelhorsford403 Carb? Diesels don't have carburetors. Propane powered engines do, though.
average price of one of these ?

where do you buy a surplus generator from or who
Do you fix these and sell them ?
