I think Sky was just a representation of what was left of Viktor's humanity after he began transforming. He now thinks emotions are a hindrance and had to say goodbye to them, but the way he is convinced about this decision makes him know that he won't be looking back at his humanity.
I think because Viktor had never really cares for her when she was alive. She likes him a lot, but Viktor doesn't seem to reciprocate much, so she probably thinks that Viktor will forget her after she leave like how he used to do.
@@scythesquite I think sky was actually in the Hexcore when it killed her, I dunno why so many people think she's a figment, whatever this transformation is, shed her, and viktor's humanity, all in one.
I don’t think it’s really Viktor in there anymore, the hex core has warped his mind as much as it has his body. Especially after Jayce killed him, he had to rely on the arcane even more to live. My interpretation is the wildrunes that’s being expressed by the hex core is a very primal force, wanting to grow, evolve and change, that desire of the wildrunes mixed with Viktor’s aims of fixing the world created this version of Viktor, an emotionless being just trying to grow and evolve. Skye represented the final anchor to the true Viktor after much of it was lost in his first resurrection from Jinx’s explosion and now finally the majority of it lost in his second resurrection. Only Jayce and old Viktor was capable of pulling what ever remained back out… sort of like Darth Vader and Luke
@@jockturner1547 I agree with this theory, but I do believe Victor is still in there evidently due to the final episode where he undo's his machine ascension with Jayce after Jayce convinces him alongside his future self.
I think it's a corruption arc. Not necessarily a villain arc, though corruption arcs often refer to such too. Corruption is more complex than that though and can just mean someone becoming depressed or, in this case, an amoral godlike entity.
This scene makes me sad because of what it does to Vander. He never did anything to anyone all he wanted was to protect his famil and he got turned into a giant wolf monster against his will, gained his sanity back, only to lose it, die and get reanimated into an even worse monster and lose his memories
@@csudoku952 We don't know enough about their storyline and what Silco and Vander may have done after their friend died to make that assumption. It's entirely likely that Silco wanted to keep pushing on despite his grief at the sacrifices caused for the sake of a peaceful Zaun, and Vander wanted it all to stop, and all the suffering to end because it wasn't worth it. That would then result in their conflict, and as Vander seems to have been the figurehead of the revolution in the same way that Jayce was the figurehead of hextech while Victor was on the side, that may have caused Silco to take action against Vander when he couldn't convince him to keep fighting, as if he didn't get rid of Vander, the undercity would side with Vander and stop the revolution. Now that's just a theory, a possibility out of hundreds of what might have happened, but the point is Silco must have done something to trigger that response in Vander
@@csudoku952 its because vander was right. The nation of zaun silco envisioned would have been a hellhole built on addicts he created himself and other crime syndicates. the people who would have led and built up zaun would have made it an even more miserable place to live in. Vander realized it the day their friend died and with Vi and powder beeing traumatized. He saw the neverending spiral of violence, and figured that they should just focus on the next generation, raise them well(or as good as possible) and proof to piltover that they can be civilized, instead of burdening the next generation with their own trauma, hate and disdain for piltover.
@greenboomcarter56 Idk obviously a lot is left up to interpretation but I feel like it's pretty heavily implied that Vander was the one to strike first. Silco constantly comments about how Vander betrayed him and it's kinda a huge part of his character and the reason why he's so untrusting and thinks Vi will do the same to Jynx. Obviously, one characters side of the story doesn't tell all but we also see moments where Vander seems to regret what he did to Silco. Now obviously Vander is a generally morally good character but I think the fact that we see him actively regretting that decision to betray Silco says a lot about what kind of betrayal it was. I feel like it is far more likely the first part of what you said. Vander, acting out of grief for his dead friend and shouldering the responsibilities of two young children, acted out of fear of what Silco might do and struck first. They likely had argued about whether to continue the war or not previously and Victor decided Silco had to go. I don't think Vander is a perfectly good guy. I think what he did to Silco, based on what we see in the show, was likely very wrong. But again a lot of this is up to interpretation so who knows. I just think that this interpretation makes a lot more sense than others when you look at the characters motivations throughout the show.

I love listening to this song on Spotify, but only the show version has those dark brass instruments hitting on top of the godly violins. And the song without the evil intent just doesn’t feel as complete to me.
Yess, right after Skye pulls her hands from Viktors, and then the scene of him standing alone with a dark figure instead of the white hair and etheral body!
I didn’t cry during Arcane at all but at 1:54, how the music picks up as Vander begins floating- it made me tear up fr. Like idk why that music swell and that scene got me so hard
I love this moment so much at 00:41 when sky tells him "you won't" it's like she was the last part of humanity that was left inside him and when she is gone he won't remember that part at all as he will fully turn into the "Arcane" then when she is gone he becomes totally dimmed as a way of showing that this is Viktor is no more
This is one of the only scene in the cinematic history which portrays love , art , music , pain , self sacrifice and complete transformation so well all together.
There are few moments when Tyler’s singing doesn’t pull at my heartstrings. He really decided to play them like a fucking banjo in this scene though. What a voice.
I think this is the most perfect representation of the idea of personified godhood . hidden behind a glamour thats beautifully divine but behind that glamour . its hideously wrong . and unnaturally grotesque
I find it interesting that here, in the "show version" of the song, they've edited the chords to be more dissonant and unnerving starting at around 1:56 - as opposed to the original song, where all the chords at that part are very harmonious and beautiful.
Easily best scene this season, maybe even series. The music, the infinite, but beautiful sadness of everyone succumbing to Viktor’s power. Especially for League players, seeing Viktor dawn his mask was so powerful
Not sure if anyone else has said this but a detail I love is Ambessa's expression, it looks to me like she almost doesn't know what she's enabled to be brought into the world, in over her head for once. No amount of her scheming preparation could have prepared her for something like this.
I wish they would have explored this more because it kinda goes against her philosophy completely, viktor’s vision. she believes her and her people should be free spirited warriors with the ability to decide their own fates, and even accept death as a natural consequence of that. what Viktor wants / does is the complete anitithesis of that and it’s really weird to me that AFTER seeing this and what he does to people she still goes along with him in the final battle. like… cmon of course he’s gonna do that same thing to your soldiers and you.
@@paradoxdungeon Maybe she wasn't aware that's what he would do to everyone as his ultimate goal. She had a condition to help Viktor: evolve all of her soldiers she commanded be evolved. Viktor is such a beautifully written, but devastatingly tragic character. I absolutely adored his character arcs in season 2.
In order to strip him of his own humanity, Viktor took away the one THING that Vander needed the most. I watched this scene shaking knowing that Viktor the person who he was, he was gone and a monster took his place. Seeing Vander memories as well as himself burning away broke my heart.😢
Not even the wolf was left, he just becomes a hive mind entity like everyone else until Viktor “dies” and he regains to the only thing left, the beast, as Vander was entirely destroyed in the end
One trying to become human, the other one trying to become a monster.
By far the best scene of the season. 10/10.
Yes!!
I’d say it’s my second favorite. power/Ekko dancing was fantastic 🎉
@@TzrcWolf_ that was a great scene too
*SPOILER* What about Ekko/Jinx when she was trying to blow herself?
@@eclest7208 That scene was probably the most jarring
Honestly every scene is amazing lmao
the shot at 1:42 is one of the most ethereally beautiful things i've ever seen, which isn't too surprising considering it's arcane
True this show just blew my mind but again 230 mil spent here so not really taken back by it too much 😂
How come? Not all of that went to animating since they had to split it over 2 seasons plus marketing etc. Why would the cost diminish it in any way?
I was like “Ain’t no way this is Twenty One Pilots..right?” And sure was. Love it
0:27 The face any honest person makes when you say "I will miss you" while leaving them behind for good.
2:39 is like peak cinema
*Glorious Cinema
the bass drop when he opens his eyes was fucking perfect
The scene at 2:31 is a truly rare cinematic body horror transformation done right. it's been decades since we've seen this done so well in cinema.
When I first saw it, it was too dark and too fast for me to register what I just saw.
But since then, every time I rewatch it - BONE CHILLING :cheffskiss:
I love the part of the song right at the start, so sad and haunting 😩0:20 Wish it was in the studio version!!!!!!!
I love listening to this song on Spotify, but only the show version has those dark brass instruments hitting on top of the godly violins. And the song without the evil intent just doesn’t feel as complete to me.
Exactly my thoughts. I want the show version on spotify so badly!
This exactly, it adds SO much. I need this version on Spotify.
I really really want the show version of theme where Jinx comes to the rescue. It's so much better with the orchestra playing along.
I immediatly used RUclips Converter to have it in Spotify
☝️ This here, I need this version right now, even with viktor and miss young talking at the start.
“To become who you want to be, you must sacrifice who you are.”
the way the song enters is beautiful😢
Yess, right after Skye pulls her hands from Viktors, and then the scene of him standing alone with a dark figure instead of the white hair and etheral body!
In a perfect parallel universe, season 2 ended here and we got season 3 with a confrontation of fully developed characters.
Probably would have been a better choice. I was also shocked to see fully evolved Viktor arc to be so quickly finished.
I didn’t cry during Arcane at all but at 1:54, how the music picks up as Vander begins floating- it made me tear up fr. Like idk why that music swell and that scene got me so hard
i was sobbing during this whole scene LOLL
What a voice.
the face-splitting and the animation of it has got to be one of the sickest transformations ive seen in all of media
I wish they would release a version of the song with this choir intro
I was gonna say that! Fr it's sounds better in my opinion 😭
Seeing Vander’s memory being faded away is sad but whats even sadder is that he at the verge of tears timestamp 1:19
I think this is the most perfect representation of the idea of personified godhood . hidden behind a glamour thats beautifully divine but behind that glamour . its hideously wrong . and unnaturally grotesque
So true. The scene is beautifully captivating to watch, but horrendously grotesque when understood.
I find it interesting that here, in the "show version" of the song, they've edited the chords to be more dissonant and unnerving starting at around 1:56 - as opposed to the original song, where all the chords at that part are very harmonious and beautiful.
Deny death ........ And you Deny Even Life Itself
one of the best scenes in season 2 for me
I started crying at this scene bc of the music. It sounds like you’re sad and broken, but it hits at the same time.
1:53 this part has different chord from official audio by twentyonepilot, more chaotic vibess
the sound production is good ugh
the better version, this one. more sinister and intentional
I need this version officially....😭😭😭
Easily best scene this season, maybe even series. The music, the infinite, but beautiful sadness of everyone succumbing to Viktor’s power. Especially for League players, seeing Viktor dawn his mask was so powerful
I love Viktor's accent the most!
This scene changed everything
best scene in all of arcane
Damn!! Rewatching it is even sadder.
Everything's fading.
Sky, Vander, even Viktor.
He responded with "I will evolve all willing". So I guess she thought he would be "satisfied" after taking over the Hex gates "energy" and only evolve those who choose. But we ended up seeing what Viktor actually chose to do...
@@paradoxdungeon she just doesn't know, also she's fine with modifications, as any man can get modified, she doesn't like things that are born differences, namely Magic, as you cannot learn it.
the fact that the mask resembles a wolf because Him and warwick "fused"
I was so immersed in this scene that I didn't notice it was Tyler. Now my heart is beating faster than before while rewatching this scene 😢
I like that if you look closely to victors development you can see just before his head splits to form his arcana body you can tell his eyes are like all the puppets that are now constructs with the withdrawal White eyes then after the split you see the expansion of the split turning him into this being of well evolution not expressionless but changed
There is no prize to perfection, only an end to pursuit. A tragic mindset for a scientist. One entirely lost on Singed
Singed got the happy ending, he had the motivation and he accomplished it
@@derekc9835 and it only cost LITERALLY everyone else's.
Vander and Silvo
Shimmer
Viktor
Ambessa and Mel.
There isn't one person in Arcane who Singed didn't negatively impact for the sake of his own goal
@@christopherbronson3275 The most egoistic, apathetic and dangerous character on the entire series, but at the same time the most pacific one.
The part where Vander forgets who he was, and he sheds 1 last inky tear... That hurt me deeply
Same, they did vander so wrong!
The day that Vander truly died
And this absolute banger is followed by wasteland ❤️
wasteland broke my heart into a thousand pieces
hits so different if you’ve ever been s*icidal
1:32 Always comeback to this moment, the music fits so fcking well with what is happening, how Ambessa and Singed are seeing what Viktor is capable of.
One of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen in any show.
@@vorkot1 Beautiful to see, but horrendous when you understand what's happening 😢
This scene is crack
Rewatched at least 20 times
Same it’s a tradition to watch this at least once a week
I can’t decide if this scene is the peak of arcane (hits home as ascension is truly felt and scene here), or the “he is your father too” scene with what have they done to us playing.
I need that version at spotify now 😭
What a beautiful song
one of my fav scenes really... i cant find the right words for this scene. warwicks burning frame broke me so much.
I really think Sky is a symbol of Viktor's humanity. Everytime he makes a choice to defy his mortality, he loses something of her. The finally aspect was her soul or conscience, and it looks like she was literally pulled away as she fades away.
Incredible scene, the transcendance of Viktor is amazing
0:51 this is so beautiful with victor screaming with Vander, gets me every time
This is glorious evolution
I'm just so sad that Vander is fully gone now. there's no way to bring him back, no chance. makes Jinx's sacrifice even more tragic, she wanted her father to rest, like he deserved
She likely isn't dead
1:33 1:49 the music rising with them ALL rising and changing oh god
This is genuinely one of my most favourite scenes and it makes me so emotional.
This scene is so beautiful. I keep watching it over and over again ❤
Oh my fucking god. I just realized something, this scene caused me chills when I watched it last saturday and I didn't understand quite why, but just now after rewatching it I realized it makes me remember a Made in abyss chapter where Bondrewd uses Prushka to get blessed by the abyss 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Exactly it conveys the same emotion
The level of sacrifice the both of them made
Sky was the last of Viktor's humanity
I wish this version of the Line was on Spotify, the ending is just epic with this alternate bass line and the horns/trumpets (not sure how this sound is made)
Hauntingly beautiful
I just realized the netflix subtitles for the song are wrong when it says "Keep them on the reasons Below our words before"
Netflix captions are always so off lmao 💀 they never get it right
It's all wrong lol.
The beginning on the captions says: "Take a seat, But I'd rather you know you're here for"
lmao 😂
I watched this whole show and while I enjoyed it, I was only really partially paying attention while also scrolling around social media. Cool music, cool fight scenes, cool this and that…but I never really felt a connection to any of the characters and their deaths…until this one. I went from not fully paying attention when the “no…you won’t” diss and by the time Vanders tears turn black, it was phone down and fully immersed with eyes welling up. I had to rewind it and watch it again and yep, absolute tear jerker moment realizing Vander has been getting shafted the entire show all the way up until his memories, the only thing we really have in life that truly belongs to us, wiped away. The part where his water color image of himself comes up, that little zoom in, that look in his eyes and then he dissolves. Good god, ya got me big time, people who wrote and directed that scene. Shooketh 😢
I come back to this scene every now and then cuz of how good it is, but the inaccuracy in the lyrics' subtitles will eventually drive me crazy x)
Geeze that transformation is just terrifying but i cant look away and the song is terrific. I miss shows like this
0:28 Fire ass line
Vander has become one of my favorite tragic characters. The scene where he hugged his daughters and this one right here absolutely wrecked me…
2:32 when I first saw Viktor’s head split open to reveal his new face, I honestly thought he was turning into Kindred
my favorite scene in the entire s2 I think
All of season 2, every frame of it could be a beautiful wallpaper...
the best scene for me
This is My fav scene i cried so loud this song is perfect for vik
Same 😭
this show and moment was just incredible. Amazing show
and here i thought sky was an outside entity influencing him and manipulating him
I still believe it was the actual sky trapped in the hexcore inside of Viktor. Much like Jayce, who retained his humanity in the celestial plane to talk to Viktor before the end. They were the only people Viktor was reluctant to absorb/erase.
@@psython2160you can see Jayce slowly turning golden while the thread is still connected to him in the celestial realm, so Victor didn't choose not to assimilate him, he either chose to do it slowly so they could have that conversation, or Jayce is rejecting the transformation and clinging onto his humanity throughout that conversation
Unpopular opinion I'm sure. This is the best song in the second season but the way it was cut for this scene was tragic.
God this series is so beautiful
He was letting go of his last bit of humanity he had left. Poor Vander the purest of them all received the worst of them all.
I always come back to watch this scene, one of my fav scene in s2
Best scene of all series for me ❤
These are the craziest chills I’ve ever gotten from a tv show
They didnt ascend because of viktor, they ascended because of the music
the lyric soooo perfect
0:56 this scene hits hard
i've been looking for this. Thanks
0:15 "MS. YOUNG" oh, I *cackled*
0:37 LMFAO
The parallel's between Viktor and Vander is insane since their characters to me is similar in more ways than one
THIS SCENE KILLS ME EVERY TIME
I LITERALLY DIE ON THE SPOT
GOD
ITS SO EMOTIONAL
EVERY TIME I HEAR THE SONG IT FILLS ME WITH A SENSE OF DREAD AND YET ALSO EXCITEMENT
OH MY GOD
