I'm sorry, I love your show. However, when you shill for the worst VPN company out there, I have to call it out. NordVPN has been hacked multitude of times, keeps records of users' activity so governments and hackers can get a hold of, and is extremely overpriced. There are far better alternatives out there, especially if you are actually looking for security and privacy (no logs). That's a reason why 95% of all RUclipsrs have dropped this company for other VPN services. So, you get an automatic downvote for shilling for NordVPN.
Amazing video man. I loved how you also talked about the psychological aspects of playing wow and having bounds with your characters. Great stuff. Loved it. Cant say it often enough!
@@kungfujoe2136 I have over 100+ friends on my blizz friend list. most of them were playing classic in the past few months. They all switched and my FL is now mostly retail. I think everyone is a bit hyped for the new addon, which in fact goes back in so many ways to classic, with new talents, and proper crafting. I love it so far. Also I love the fact its no more about timetravel in space against other dimension demons.
Warrior had been my main since Vanilla, Arms since Legion. I'm attached to this character as my identity in WoW and I don't have to relearn much. With my long experience, I'm excited to play around with different talent builds for different situations including trying my hand at M+.
@@caboose8402 I made a build based around Overpower procs. Idk the names. But I have two uses of Overpower, and some abilities have a chance to reset the cooldown of Overpower and Mortal strike, so I’m like constantly having the double Overpower buff to make Mortal Strike hit harder. It’s awesome.
I dig it. Sounds similar to my primary build. I don't have that in my AoE build and it feels strange...but I have Blafdestorm, Warbreaker, Spear, and Shockwave so, you win some, you lose some.
When I started WoW I played a fire mage in vanilla. I've played that mage as my main for every single expansion since. I came to this dance with my mage, and I'm going out on my shield with my mage. Fire mage for life.
I thought I'd stay with my Hunter forever. it was just so awesome all the things he could do. Then i did the grind to Field Marshal and got so sick on him I benched him from TBC to finally lvling him to max for only the second time in SL.
I'm going to be honest the videos in lead up to Dragonflight have really changed my opinion of your content for the positive. I appreciate the core message of this video, "Main? Who cares? Just have fun." I also appreciate that you are pointing out how much false importance people put into the dps charts. Thank you.
Hard agree. The positivity makes these videos so much more watchable and enjoyable. I appreciate that if your job is making videos around a product, and you don't enjoy the product, the videos will reflect that, but the negative doom and gloom videos really did used to be such a turn off for the channel. Love this recent stuff
Usually I’ve used dps meters in the past and try to be sweaty each dungeon. Recently I decided to turn them off and just play the game. I’m honestly having more fun and have released how much increased stress I put on myself if I’m not topping the meters. I think I’m gonna keep them off for awhile and see how it goes
@@Harvey2Tall i get this angle but honestly for me I'm very competitive and I enjoy the mental game of trying to like compete against myself in the same content over different runs.
I love how you decided on your main. And this video expresses what is most important which is to just play what you find to be fun. That is what makes a game like this so interesting. I still haven't decided until I try Dracthyr but it is looking more and more like I will choose Havoc this expansion as I love the changes that dragonflight have given the spec.
I've not been that impressed with Evokers Devistation... im still to fiddle around with it's talents a bit more. But so far not been that impessed, the race I love tho... so many looks, Blizzard didn't fail us for choice there 😄🖖
I never mained something other than DPS, mostly because I'm your typical casual and I was never that good or overly invested in WoW, so taking responsibility of keeping the group alive or leading them through was kind of stress I never wanted (staying alive in heroic raids or M+ was stressful enough). I felt safe and comfortable as a range caster staying somewhere in the back, away from the heat, focusing just on mechanics and rotation, no worries about the rest. I also dabbed into healing here and there, levelling alts but it was nothing serious. And I didn't want to touch tanking with a 6 foot pole, witnessing all that sorts of drama they have to deal in pugs, impatient players shitting all over them for the mistakes they done themselves. A good tank who knows what they're doing is the key member in a group and I doubted I could ever be one. Saying that tho... I decided to main Brewmaster monk in DF. Yes, I know... I chose probably the hardest tank to play especially for someone who never tanked before, but hear me out. I was always attracted to the idea, fantasy and fun rotation of that spec but I avoided it this whole time for reasons I mentioned above. And now I decided to face my fears so I can earn the right to play something I feel good playing. What makes it even more awesome is that I already feel bonding to my alt levelling it right now, because just like the in-game monk, who needs to conquer Sha of Doubt, Fear and Despair (I already have no Anger in my heart) and go through the vigorous training, I feel like I need to conquer those emotions in real life myself to become a Brewmaster monk. I will have many failures, wipes, many shameful moments, many angry and annoyed remarks in my address, people leaving my group or kick me out, but I'm ready to endure it with calmness and understanding. And with each failure my monk and I will become stronger. We will fall but we will learn how to get back up each time. I almost certain that facing those struggles and uncomfortable situations I kept myself away from will train me how to find inner peace, to deal with stress and frustration and outer anger of others, to be more balanced, decisive, responsible and brave, not just in game, but hopefully in life as well. This already feels like I'm not just playing monk but living it. What any other spec could give me that experience? Hopefully my monk will teach me those important lessons I could apply in real life, so I could never say I wasted time playing video game if it impacted who I am in reality. I'm excited to share that journey with my virtual character. So that's how I chose my main for DF.
Thank you for this! The biggest mistake is to let other people make the decision for you, instead of playing something you enjoy. I will stick to my main, Holy (+Ret) Paladin because it‘s near and dear to my heart, it’s a fantasy I enjoy, and it’s been super fun as a healer in dungeons lately
That depends on your situation though. I personally play for raid progress and for the benefit of my Guild. Holding them back by playing what I want to play over what benefits the Guild the most is not something I'd consider fun. I was asked to play something I had no intentions of playing, but it's for the best of the Guild, so I'll gladly do it. However, I do agree with you that doing this in a low ranked Guild is dumb and no one should do that.
@@billymays9296 It all depends on the philosophy you have in playing the game, and who you play it with. If you're in a guild that wants to optimize the hell out of everything and you enjoy that, cool. Not doing that isn't going to lock you into being a forever low ranked guild though.
yeah.... unless you dont intend to do end game content, then you can probably just stick to whatever you like. if you are intending to raid, then you're pretty much stuck.
BM Hunter. I just like simple rotations and I kinda liked how they brought back the fantasy of having a bunch of beasts coming to your side. Is not the best for the DPS, but I absolutely love the fantasy. Still thinking on Demo Lock for the same reasons (summon all demons) but I'm not sure, I'm just way too used to soloing stuff on BM
Yeah, I love my Hunter. He's been my main since TBC. I wish they would give us a bit more DPS. It's crazy we get outdone by Survival. But either way, I am sticking with him. (to be clear I have plenty of alts. But he's my boy).
Like Matt, I have played my Balance Druid since the tail end of Vanilla. I love the Night Elf lore, and the utility of the class. Being able to go from shadowmeld directly into prowl is the biggest plus for a Night Elf Druid. That and picking flowers without leaving travel form. Boomkin all the way!
My main will always be my BM hunter, I love all the pet options and the lore of them. I played the Evoker in Beta and love their play style too so a preservation Evoker will be my second. A close third is my druid or Enhancement Shaman. I don't pay attention to the dps metres anymore, things change regularly in game and a class that is at the bottom one week could be totally flipped a few weeks later. Play what you enjoy most , other wise it's work not fun.
My main will be beast master hunter, for the theme of it. Despite the fact that I REALLY wish it was a more complicated spec to play, I love the general concept and lore behind it. For example, the idea of being a night elf hunter who has tamed a pair of silithid after the war of the sands because in the night elfs mind they are some of the single most dangerous creatures around. On the other hand, I do want to try a druid. I love the freedom of being able to swap at will.
I’m maining Evoker. I’ve wanted to switch away from melee for a while now, and I’ve always been a healer at heart. The thought of a new healer to master makes me excited and I love all the subtle nuances of the class
Fire Mage has been my baby since Legion, I wouldn't give it up for anything. The fantasy, the feel (even tho it seems to be leaning more towards hard-casted pyroblasts), everything about it just appeals to me. It keeps me engaged. Regardless of how good or bad it is going forward, that's what I'll be maining.
I'm not a very good fire mage, I can hold my own but I'm not gonna be topping the charts anytime soon, and that's OK. I love the fantasy and the story I've made for my character. I love just flinging fire is bursts for big damage. People in my guild keep fretting on what they're gonna play and how they wont like it as much as XYZ. I keep trying to get them to see that playing what you find fun will keep you from burning out as much
@@SquishDotNet I understand your point and appreciate that you can play the game for fun without worrying too much about how the spec performs, but to a lot of players (like me) fun is very closely related to performance. Each to their own!
@@SquishDotNet yea people need to just play what they enjoy and not worry about topping charts anytime soon. just relax and have fun, because this xpac looks to be just a good time no matter the play style.
I will always main my Unholy DK. I like the nice balance of melee damage and magic damage. It doesn’t feel spammy. I like having a lot of CDs to manage and timing them together for max effect. I also think it’s the coolest/edgiest class in the game.
My plan is to go with DPS Evoker (of course I haven't played the beta, so I hope I like it) My whole guild of 12+ years quit in BFA and I did too, but when I haphazardly tuned into the Dragonflight reveal, the Dracthyr pulled me back in. Coming back after a 3+ year break is the perfect opportunity to switch mains. In the meanwhile I resubbed back in May and have been playing a new Surv/Marks hunter I started, Ill probably make some new alts as well for the fresh start.
This is an amazing video! I've mained Feral since the end of WoD (I cheered when Matt said he was going feral) but I'm switching to Evoker. I've wanted to get back into healing for a bit now but none of the classes have a healing and ranged spec that I jive with. I've had a blast with Evoker on the beta and I'm so ready for them to show up in live.
Im leaning toward Demo lock right now. I was attracted by the Pitlord summon but seeing how visually under-whelming it is, I tried some other talents and I love it. Affliction also feels really good for single target.
Absolutely will be maining enhancement. It's been my go to spec since tbc, and while I don't have my original shaman anymore, the class fantasy and gameplay is more than enough to keep me invested. If it's low on the meters, well, it is what it is. I'm no mythic raider, so class fantasy means far more to me than whatever the tier lists or logs say. You pay monthly for the game, play what you enjoy most so you get the biggest bang for your buck. Loved this video. Cheers!
Honestly, I just like playing whatever class I find fun at the time, which is why I pretty much got a character for every class, lol. This way if one class doesn’t feel that great or fun, or I’m just getting bored of it, I can just swap to another. I also like having each character be a different race I feel best fitting for each class, as to better get into playing them. This makes leveling a bit tiresome, but at least I won’t get tired of playing the same way all the time.
This is a great "teach a man to fish" moment. You could say x y and z will be top three play them, but you did a good job rationalizing what goes into choosing a main and then gave your thought process on how you decided.
I'm keeping Resto Druid as my main. It helps me a lot to understand what everything does when I'm making a talent build for every situation. It feels great stacking all these talents I had to choose between in Shadowlands.
i'm leaning towards survival hunter since the (old) new talent system affords me much more choice and versatility compared to the old talent system. i can take butchery at last without getting screwed from missing an extra charge of wildfire bomb
Ele/resto shaman I've always loved the primalistic fantasy and theming of the class, with this talent tree it feels nice to focus into almost specific elements and do something as simple as matching up transmog to fit the fantasy.
I've had an affliction warlock since vanilla and I am now back and feeling right at home. The aoe possibilities are amazing. I love the dot style gameplay and I genuinely think this is the most fun I've had in wow ever in terms of rotations and lore.
Affliction Warlock is the cream of the crop of WoW playstyles. Super flavorful and a blast to play since Vanilla. Can't wait to gear mine in Dragonflight!
I just want a class with as little group utility as possible, because I don't want team to rely on me for survival or healing or anything, and I want a class with easy AoE rotation that doesn't need to use pf single target skill in aoe rotation, and i like having a teleport/jump like mobility, what do you guys recommend ?
I think demo warlock is a good choice if you prefer ranged. A pet build is really good for aoe with deadstalker and felguard talents. Not really great with mobility but they do have a teleport and gate.
Going with Ret as I thoroughly enjoy the increase in skill ceiling with the additions of Radiant Decree, Of Dusk and Dawn, keeping Consecration ticking and if you get two of them at the same time you wan't to use Divine Storm in ST as well as Exorcism is back even though it's kinda underwhelming.
Frost Mage - fun procs, unique aesthetic, and simple enough to reward nuance - plus I've always wanted a Nelf mage and the race's story is such a huge motivator now
I would just love that the glacial spike build is viable, because when u throw that huge chink of ice you feel the oomph. Also would love if the comet storms are viable because I loveeee the animation of it all.
Unless something else suddenly takes my breath away, I'll be playing Elemental. I enjoy the aesthetic and the playstyle. I wasn't the biggest fan of the RNG we had back in Legion, but for the most part the spec feels pretty consistent. I abhor damage windows, where DPS feels like a high for a short period of time, then you go back to suffering withdrawls until you can get your next hit. I'm a ranged DPS, so I'd like to have options within my class, but it just doesn't work for me. I had a blast with Warlock up until they intentionally ruined Demo in WoD and reworked it. I hate the concept of Malefic Rapture, which makes me sad because I loved Aff before that. Beast Mastery and Survival are hard No's for me, and Mage doesn't stand up and grab my attention. I'd consider Priest if they got Shadow truly sorted and allowed more throughput to come from Atonement on the healing side. Sadly, Blizz seems to be in love with ramping huge shields and baking a deficit in to account for them the rest of the time.
"It's the only DPS spec, it would be shit if it's not viable" Yep, there's hope for everyone, unless you're ret who has been below average 98.65% of the time since WoD in terms of DPS, and now doesn't even have might wisdom or kings anymore.
Matt's comment about playing Ninja in FF14 caught my attention. In an effort to try and get my roommate to start playing FF14 with me last summer, I switched from Paladin to Rogue (his main in any fantasy game he plays). But ended up falling in love when I reached Ninja. In WoW, Prot Paladin has been my main for years. I have played other tanks as alts, but never that seriously. Circling back to Matt's Ninja comment and how much I related to it, maybe this expansion I roll Monk or Druid. Sounds like WW Monk is a very busy class, much like the Ninja in FF14 and BM has always been really unique and intriguing. . . Yea, maybe Monk then.
Thank you SO much for that reality check. I wish more people would realize that. I have several people I play with who spend so much time rerolling they never master their rotation or defensives on a character. We're not pushing mythic competitively, so just learn to play the game and enjoy it.
Either enh or feral, with the mastery that enh has you can make spellhance a very competitive spec, and I've always loved the melee spellcaster gish type of character in fantasy. and feral always seems to be a spec I gravitate to but they are always underdone now they seem like a complete spec.
I play games way more than 30 hours a week, and I still suck at any class/job/spec because of my own limitations and disabilities - so I like your point of playing what you vibe with, basically. I'm going to try preservation evoker because I need a change from all of the characters I've had for years... most of them were made while I was in a horrible relationship with my now ex and I'm actually excited about Evoker. And once I'm not having fun anymore, I will leave back to FFXIV where my heart is. You're right though... I am crap at DPS, I forget cooldowns, I don't push buttons in the right order but on Dancer in FFXIV it just makes sense to my broken brain and I vibe and I can play it well enough to get through duties. Lowest personal DPS yet it is so much fun I can manage to play it. :D
I'm heartened to read this. I too have a disability that inhibits my gameplay. I play BM Hunter for ease of use. Do whatever you enjoy and all the best to you!
I need help with this new interface I would love to coppy some how what I see on 7:05 cose I am %100 lost on settings ( never used addonse that change the classic interface before and now they force it )
Exclusively healed since Wrath, after playing about with Preservation Evoker it just feels like such a unique way to heal and i think i need that kinda unique feeling after mainly playing Resto druid for years
Warlock! For all the story flavor and juggling resources like soul shards and imp, seeing your army amass visually represents how well you're doing with spell timing. It's just a blast.
I have chosen Unholy DK because purely of my attachment to it. I won my mage tower artifact appearance with my Unholy DK and it’s the only time in my 10 years playing I took a break from role playing to get my BIS and try and play normal raids as well. It was a blast. ALTHOUGH my goblin DK is now a mechagnome lmao
As a new player to the game I've decided on Ret Paladin for my main. I just really enjoy proc based classes and I love the nice juicy big hits you can pull off. It's so fun it's making it hard for me to want to play anything but WoW at the moment 😂
This is what I call good advice. Great video. I've been playing Shadow Priest and Resto/Feral Druid for years and that won't change. So, naturally I love your choices. Welcome to my favourite specs, Michael and Matt
Blizz fucked it up highly with Evoker. Why? They can't do the true Endgame of WoW. Transmog. And there are A LOT OF People who would love to play Evoker but they care a lot about Transmog, therefore they don't/can't/won't play Evoker, because you can't really transmog them sufficent enough.
It’s called bait for a reason. If people didn’t take the bait, RUclipsrs wouldn’t do it. Blame the smoothbrains that click on it, not the people fighting for views.
I started with Warlock at the beginning of Shadowlands. But after getting a little bit into Havoc DH it became my Main Spec through Shadowlands. With the Evoker coming next week i am really curious how they feel and if they will be interesting to me. I think i might main Evoker in Dragonflight due to the fact that i missed a lot of collectibles in Legion and BFA (Artifact skins and stuff) so an Evoker might be a good class to start "from scratch".
The answer has been the same since the beginning of MMORPGs, just play the class/spec you like the play the most, and ignore the hype/flavor of the month specs.
Struggling to pick between my lock and shammy. My lock is my original capped toon back in TBC, and I still love how destro feels, all these years later, but shammy gives the options of healing, so still undecided.
I remember when most people just wanted to play what they enjoyed. Now it's mostly people wanting to know what's "best" or "most viable". You're title implying there is a "wrong choice" pretty much proves this.
Yeah the title proves it, and so do the logs and charts. It’s part of the game. You said your self “people wanting to know what’s ‘best’”. What’s truly the difference between someone wanting to play what they think is fun versus someone playing what they think is best if at the end of the day they’re having fun? Sometimes the “play what’s fun” people are just as annoying as the “play what’s best” People
Hi guys, I will be maining Havoc Demon Hunter with the option of playing vengeance. the new talent system has really opened up the class and it now feels incredibly fun and powerful with the addition of sigils and felblade now being an option to havoc. Plus, the amount of meta uptime and eye beam damage is crazy.
We have to be honest, there are many classes that could be fun if some talents were changed or eliminated. The default example is Mage and RoP. There are many who want to use Mage, but RoP intimidates them. There are other talents yes, but they don't compete at all. Paladin is another case. There are those who want to know NOTHING about HoPo. Others don't give a damn. And most of them don't mind losing a bit of Healing/Damage if they gain a bit of movement speed. The horse is just BAD and for such a slow class and one that most classes can kite very easily, it's damage is not that important. Also, I want to add something. Remember when Blizzard said he was not happy with the retri paladin situation and his mid-range ? They left him stuck in melee range. And now they have a new class that is mid-range, has a great movement speed and can also be a healer. They could have left the paladin in his old form, mid-range, and with the Evoker they could have invented something new and different.
My main for Dragonflight is going to be beast master. I had been playing monk since MOP but in the latter part of shadowlands, it decided to dust off my Hunter which I had kept around since I joined in vanilla. While I had never had it as a main, it was always there as an alt. Since I started playing it fulltime , beast master is in the cards for Dragonflight. I love the fantasy and being able to sit back and watch a fight develop all while being able to move about.
Demon hunter or waiting on evoker dps to come out, but leaning towards DH. I like the fantasy, the mobility and the feels of the class! I think DHs have always been the middle of the pack dps and honestly it just forces me to do the best out of it to lean towards the top. Aye!
I feel like this xpak should be way easier to balance without leggos and borrowed power. They have no excuse now. I'm counting on this and playing my favorite class for each role. In my case my fav is the ones that I haven't over played yet. DH-Evoker
I find that too many people are worried about finding classes that are S tier I think that's a horrible way to pick classes I base my decision on how much fun they are and how engaging they are and what suits my personality the most, lore does play are part in my decision also, I have been doing it this way for 17 years I have never regretted my decision thats why my main for Dragonflight will be druid I love their lore I love being able to transform into this powerful wild animal I love the flexiblty of being able pick are tank today or are healer tommrow or RDPS or MDPS the world's my oyster and this is the most importent factor their really fun to play.
I have been a Hunter main since original TBC. It's my comfort class, and I don't really see myself ever truly dropping it. But this time I want it to be my secondary class because I really want to try something new, so for this expansion I chose Monk. It has all new things for me, never seriously played tank, healer, or even melee DPS. The reason for Monk and not another hybrid was simply because even though I main Hunter, I still at least leveled up all the other classes to max, and Monk has always been by far my favorite hybrid class.
I'm going Evoker. I always play the new class when one is introduced, and this expansion has the distinct honor of giving me, a dragon weeb, the ability to be a dragon.
I hopped on a bunch of old alts to try out every class in the prepatch, and enhancement seemed really fun, so I leveled up and started gearing. Then I log in to see "all damage (by enhancement) reduced by 25%"... Thanks Blizz...
My main will be my Night Elf hunter Osø, he has been my main since vanilla and there is just a great connection to him as I have played all versions of the ranged dps specs for hunter. I will also be bringing up a void elf priest for heals but I am most excited to level up a bunch of toons for professions with the new revamp
Totally agree with matt that doing well in a difficult class does feel rewarding, i haven’t decided on a main but as on of my guilds tanks it’s between vengeance and BrM
"In dragonflight, it's not really important" Confusing, when the title of the video is "Don't make the WRONG choice!" XD Any of my friends cal tell you that I always level a TON of alts. I'll be fine, no matter the patch. =D Right now, I'm having a lot of fun as Windwalker monk. Matt: What other class has a whole zone to itself? Monks have a whole giant turtle! XD
It really stressed me out a couple weeks ago about which class to main. After taking a long break from paladin I wanted to try it again, but all the issues currently plaguing its talent trees turned me off from it. On the other hand, warrior's trees are ALL AMAZING! So instead of maining a class that has issues and trying to make it work despite them, I'm going with the better designed class currently with warrior. Gonna raid as dps and I like both arms and fury and might even go Prot for m+ since its also a great feeling spec.
My main is going to be my prot pally. Been tanking with it for so long. I love it and it still feels great. All the other classes still feel good as well. That's why I made sure they were all ready.
BM Hunter. White-haired female nelf hunter. Most I've ever changed was her haircut and mog. She's the character I made in... 2007? and she's been my main ever since. Always BM, except for a brief period during Wrath when Surv was king and I was feeling sweaty enough to switch specs for it. Even when BM has been near the very bottom of the specs, I've pretty much always been near the top of any raid or group I was in, just because of long familiarity with the spec, knowing all the tricks, muscle memory, etc. If you ENJOY switching specs to follow the trends, go for it, but if you don't enjoy doing that, you're truly going to perform better playing the spec you're most familiar with.
Love the way you set this video up. You did a fantastic job not just of describing issues with the meta, but also in showing how DF is different than SL as well as showing a solid decision process. Well done, kudos! As for me, I like healing and that’s no different here. I’ll likely stick with Resto Druid as my main, but as I always try to do a key or LFR with each healer a week, the question is when do I level the Evoker, and what priority do they get. Right now, they may be anywhere from 2nd to 5th, but are most likely to wind up in the 3rd slot. Professions keep me from going higher, but I like the way they feel as healers.
I wish they would make the shadowpriest form and moonkin (glyph included) form optional or way more subtle, the way it is now completly ruins any transmog gameplay for them. Like if it has to be visible make it possible to just have something floating over ur head or something.
Definitely priest for me - undecided whether to go holy or disc, I'll decide when I get to max level and try both out as I level. Most fun I ever had in the game was playing holy priest in Cata, and its time to return to that and get away from those DPS meters for a while.
After much tempting from RUclips videos and some people I know I reluctantly resubbed in order to play around with new specs. Currently I'm leaning towards primarily playing an Outlaw Rogue though I am wanting to spend more time as an Evoker to get a good understanding of the new class and determine how much I like it. As someone who was a Shaman main back in Cata and Mists it does my heart good to hear that Enhancement is finally good again so I will need to check that out and go level my old Shaman up. I'll certainly have enough alts to keep me busy while I decide who will be my true main.
Here's a thought. Since we can make so many alts, wouldn't it be nice to be able to build your own army of specialists within the world of warcraft. I think it's great that we can get followers, and build a garrison on other planets, yet it would be incredible if we could utilize the characters we create? Everyone would get an assignment and then your main would lead them into battle or on a raid and so on.
Frost mage main for 10 years+. Sometimes a strong spec, sometimes bottom, doesnt matter. I manage to clear pretty much all content outside mythic raiding every season, that being all keys on 20 or hc raids. Pick what you enjoy and forget about fotm, its a waste of time.
My main will be evoker dps. Reasons: Limited free time, so i tend to drift towards one dps and still be able to do alright. I also am in "ALL THE THINGS" swamp and collect things, Evoker wont have past tier sets which makes shit hella less cluttered with all the different tier sets to collect (Weird reason I know, but it speaks to me) Also love the soar ability and the mental RP I can do drifting away in my own world with visage/ dracthyr form.
What I find the most important thing is spell effects/animations . I really like the way how it looks on blood dk Tauren that uses a polearm , and then when you place Death and Decay and use Hearth Strike . Things like that make me really like the class . And you can do the same thing with unholy dk . So if I can make a talent build for unholy that does not use diseases that often but focuses on attacks and pet part of the spec , it is going to be my dps main on the same character . And for alt Druid is just a way to go , if I need to do something , farming or whatever , druid most likely can do it in the most efficient way . Also I have made a really cool mog for my HM tauren that makes it look like half of the character is corrupted with wood , so there it a go to healer for me .
Beastmaster hunter has been my main since Pandaria and with the talent changes, it is closer than ever to being an actual master of beasts. I'm trying to figure out which Warlock I want to use again I love the mini-army feel of Demonology so I'm leaning heavily toward that. I'm going to try Evoker just because it is something new but I have no idea yet how much I'll like it.

That's a reason why 95% of all RUclipsrs have dropped this company for other VPN services. So, you get an automatic downvote for shilling for NordVPN.
finding ways to crit non-stop and spam pyroblasts is the most fun I can have as a mage
Amazing video man. I loved how you also talked about the psychological aspects of playing wow and having bounds with your characters. Great stuff. Loved it. Cant say it often enough!
ppl still play retail?
or is it more ppl trying retail?
Funny warrior was always the latest class I I levelled in any exp
Man Arms has been so fun with the new talents!
Clayton, which ability talents do you use?
@@poulthomas469 thankfully i never tried that grind, i was too buys raiding!
I really respect that, I’m kind of the same with Feral Druid/Guardian Druid
You played fire mage in vanilla? Did you not raid lol
Frost!
It’s a video game. People making issues out of everything like they’re having real life troubles was getting old.
I don't even raid with dps metres. Threat yes.
I still haven't decided until I try Dracthyr but it is looking more and more like I will choose Havoc this expansion as I love the changes that dragonflight have given the spec.
yeah havoc looks very nice, played it a lot on the beta the last weeks and its a blast.
This was honestly beautiful to read. I hope you have a wonderful journey.
Godspeed.
I enjoy the shield holy got
yeah.... unless you dont intend to do end game content, then you can probably just stick to whatever you like. if you are intending to raid, then you're pretty much stuck.
Same! I'm really hoping they bring back the ranged exorcism DPS as an option though
Demo Lock is fun
funny enough its really good right now and on beta
Yeah, I love my Hunter. He's been my main since TBC. I wish they would give us a bit more DPS. It's crazy we get outdone by Survival. But either way, I am sticking with him. (to be clear I have plenty of alts. But he's my boy).
its the best for dps
Survival hunter 👀👀
It was cool to see Matt appear in the video. Hopefully we see more of that in the future.
I usually play a bm hunter, but I started dabbling in survival and I love it!! Especially with the new talent tree
i dropped bm because it is just so boring. thematically its my favorite, but its just not enough
Very cheeky Bellular - moving the time stamp back several seconds after the sponsor so we can still see the important details from it.
Regardless of how good or bad it is going forward, that's what I'll be maining.
fire mage for life
I'm not a very good fire mage, I can hold my own but I'm not gonna be topping the charts anytime soon, and that's OK.
Am i the only one who prefers frost?? Lol
I am LOVING the background music in this video! It is very Ultima-esque!
Im leaning toward Demo lock right now.
I was attracted by the Pitlord summon but seeing how visually under-whelming it is, I tried some other talents and I love it. Affliction also feels really good for single target.
Play a Demonology at lev 60--fantastic for ranged damage, but thank God for my Wife's Tanking skills.
I went with monk. The ability to dps heal and tank all on one toon was a big factor. Plus all the specs are fun to play imo.
I do the same thing!
This is a great "teach a man to fish" moment. You could say x y and z will be top three play them, but you did a good job rationalizing what goes into choosing a main and then gave your thought process on how you decided.
This is such a responsible and nuanced analysis and presentation. Huge props to you and your team, Michael.
I'm keeping Resto Druid as my main. It helps me a lot to understand what everything does when I'm making a talent build for every situation. It feels great stacking all these talents I had to choose between in Shadowlands.
the class tree is awful, but the resto spec tree is unbelievably good. so pumped for DF.
@@martinw2235 You realize the class tree makes you unkillable in every spec if you get the right talents don't you? Wake up! Lol
@@ofadetergentsud I was agreeing with you about how great it felt to stack all of those talents, so no need to be rude.

Ele/resto shaman I've always loved the primalistic fantasy and theming of the class, with this talent tree it feels nice to focus into almost specific elements and do something as simple as matching up transmog to fit the fantasy.

What ui are you using on that ret pally early in the video ?
I'm trying Feral again, it surely can't be terrible for the 3rd expansion in a row? right?
You dont pvp lmao
@@codyp2808 if you think most people play wow to play arena, you’re wrong. Of course I’m not talking about PvP.
I've had an affliction warlock since vanilla and I am now back and feeling right at home. The aoe possibilities are amazing. I love the dot style gameplay and I genuinely think this is the most fun I've had in wow ever in terms of rotations and lore.
I'm loving aff on beta and I never play warlock might be the time to play it for me hahahaha
Male human warrior
fury warrior
I think demo warlock is a good choice if you prefer ranged. A pet build is really good for aoe with deadstalker and felguard talents. Not really great with mobility but they do have a teleport and gate.
@@nlerias1 True just let your void walker do all the work
You're describing fury warrior 100%
Going with Ret as I thoroughly enjoy the increase in skill ceiling with the additions of Radiant Decree, Of Dusk and Dawn, keeping Consecration ticking and if you get two of them at the same time you wan't to use Divine Storm in ST as well as Exorcism is back even though it's kinda underwhelming.
Frost Mage - fun procs, unique aesthetic, and simple enough to reward nuance - plus I've always wanted a Nelf mage and the race's story is such a huge motivator now
frost is always a good underrated pick i think.
Also the bane of nearly every Melee class.
I would just love that the glacial spike build is viable, because when u throw that huge chink of ice you feel the oomph.
Also would love if the comet storms are viable because I loveeee the animation of it all.
I'm with Matt, been a feral main since I started playing so I'm not gonna stop now when they are actually looking meta for a change.
Stoked to rock the evoker regardless of performance tbh. Something fresh and I feel fits the world fantasy greatly
3:47 Trying to make a point about the numbers changing between percentile, yet Demo, Outlaw and Surv are on top each time.
"It's the only DPS spec, it would be shit if it's not viable"
Yep, there's hope for everyone, unless you're ret who has been below average 98.65% of the time since WoD in terms of DPS, and now doesn't even have might wisdom or kings anymore.
Totally read the title in the thumbnail as, "Choosing Your Man" and I was momentarily confused, haha!

I'm really hesitant between Paladin and Priest! I'm gonna do some dungeon to try them out. They look both really fun
I’m sticking with my Feral also. The class feels really nice with the new talent tree. Windwalker and arms warrior was a close race also.
I'm gonna main Assassination Rogue, like always! Played it since BC and I just love that you can be such a master of poisons now in Dragonflight.
This is exactly what I was looking for and needing. SO much confusion and stress, tyty!
Thank you SO much for that reality check. I wish more people would realize that. I have several people I play with who spend so much time rerolling they never master their rotation or defensives on a character. We're not pushing mythic competitively, so just learn to play the game and enjoy it.
What's your choice?
You
@@GamePlayProPC ay yo
Either enh or feral, with the mastery that enh has you can make spellhance a very competitive spec, and I've always loved the melee spellcaster gish type of character in fantasy. and feral always seems to be a spec I gravitate to but they are always underdone now they seem like a complete spec.
Assasination Rogue - There's nothing more pleasant, than sneaking in Doting up an enemy, vanish and just watch them die.
You sound like me, I’m pants at the game but love the game, good look in with your new main and I really hope you enjoy the spec
I have and will ALWAYS be a lock.
The best tip is:
Play what you want and have fun
I have chosen Unholy DK because purely of my attachment to it. I won my mage tower artifact appearance with my Unholy DK and it’s the only time in my 10 years playing I took a break from role playing to get my BIS and try and play normal raids as well. It was a blast. ALTHOUGH my goblin DK is now a mechagnome lmao
To sum this whole video up in one sentence: Its infinitely better to be good at a bad spec than bad at a good spec.
Well said!
As a new player to the game I've decided on Ret Paladin for my main. I just really enjoy proc based classes and I love the nice juicy big hits you can pull off.
It's so fun it's making it hard for me to want to play anything but WoW at the moment 😂
People aren't too happy with the state of paladin right now (mostly the class tree) , but in my experience Ret is always a solid choice. Cheers!
Bellular do you regret choosing the non optimal dialogue option with Zenos yet.
This is what I call good advice. Great video. I've been playing Shadow Priest and Resto/Feral Druid for years and that won't change. So, naturally I love your choices. Welcome to my favourite specs, Michael and Matt
Bellular: "You can see that the top dps specs change all the time"
Warlocks: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Blizz fucked it up highly with Evoker.
Why?
They can't do the true Endgame of WoW.
Transmog.
And there are A LOT OF People who would love to play Evoker but they care a lot about Transmog, therefore they don't/can't/won't play Evoker, because you can't really transmog them sufficent enough.
That title cmon dude
Clickbait titles and RUclipsrs. Name a better combo lol
It’s called bait for a reason. If people didn’t take the bait, RUclipsrs wouldn’t do it. Blame the smoothbrains that click on it, not the people fighting for views.
It’s 2022, we really still complaining about video titles?
I see nothing wrong with the title. Perhaps you should play a class you like and make it good instead of chasing what other people think.
Yeah I play what's the most fun to me. I don't get my enjoyment from being top dps. My enjoyment comes from playing the style I want
This.
Yeah the title proves it, and so do the logs and charts. It’s part of the game. You said your self “people wanting to know what’s ‘best’”. What’s truly the difference between someone wanting to play what they think is fun versus someone playing what they think is best if at the end of the day they’re having fun?
Sometimes the “play what’s fun” people are just as annoying as the “play what’s best”
People
When click-bait gets ya before watching the whole video.
If you watched the video, you'd see that 'wrong choice' is referring to going flavour of the month 🤦
Hi guys,
I will be maining Havoc Demon Hunter with the option of playing vengeance. the new talent system has really opened up the class and it now feels incredibly fun and powerful with the addition of sigils and felblade now being an option to havoc. Plus, the amount of meta uptime and eye beam damage is crazy.
havoc is insane right now im still going afflock tho
Mistweaver Monk! I definitely enjoy the different perspective on healing from other games, and it's just fun to play flexible healers.
I am also choosing between Priest and Monk, most likely Priest, because Shadow feels fun and has always appealed to me!
I love my ud shadow priest. However wl is way better doing solo stuff
Totally agree with matt that doing well in a difficult class does feel rewarding, i haven’t decided on a main but as on of my guilds tanks it’s between vengeance and BrM
"In dragonflight, it's not really important"
Confusing, when the title of the video is "Don't make the WRONG choice!" XD
Any of my friends cal tell you that I always level a TON of alts.
My main is going to be my fire mage. I find her very satisfying.
I'd like to be a Paladin when they get around to opening all races for them
Love the way you set this video up.
Feral has won me over too. I never thought I would ever main a Druid, but here we go.
I went blood DK. Gotta be honest, I fucking love it. Yeah BDK is kinda imobile, but goddamn am I a monster.
Holy/disc priest. With warlock, hunter, warrior for alts! So excited for Dragonflight.
13:02 What kind of nameplate addon are you using here? And could you export the profile for it please?
I'm going to try Evoker just because it is something new but I have no idea yet how much I'll like it.
this is wow, they will just nerf into the ground a week after i pick (thinking Shaman or Warlock)
