    Finally someone makes a video in the quartzville creek area. I love that spot. It's such a good get away zone. I live in Benton County, Oregon so it's 45 min drive or so to the area. (Have you driven the quartzville highway bypass all the way from sweet home to Detroit Lake area?) I found a rocky outcrop half way through the road and it had AWESOME mineralization diversity going on. I collected some really beautiful stones of different types. Just fun agate, jasper, type stuff. That's awesome you found the hidden cave

      It's the best get away zone! I live in the same county so it's not too far away really.
      I can't say that I have been that far up that road. At least not to my memory anyways.
      But that's good to know that there's more to find up there!
      There are little things like that all over the place up there. This is the one that my friend pointed out to me some time ago.

    Good stuff man. It seems like there is more trash out there than I ever see where we go. Normally we see nothing at all.

    • @WorldofRockhounds
      @WorldofRockhounds  2 года назад

      Oh it's bad. Even the campgrounds put up signs warning people to pack it in and pack it out as they are considering shutting down the sites. It's sad that people ruin it for the rest of us.

      This video reminded me of a lot of your videos Jared 👍🏼 I know you’re a ways away but ya know… way closer than me. I was like 🤔 looks like somewhere Jared and Sarah would go. Anyway I think you’re influencing Kyle and that’s awesome. You and Kyle both influence me 👍🏼 And so the rockhound trend grows…

    I recognize that road/creek crossing. Drove through it while it was flowing in early spring. I found a single agate in a different part of the creek, and lots of that quartz you were finding. That cave you went into was an old mine. I'd love to try to find that one next time I'm out that way. I think I have an idea which one you were in. All the mines I've found up there were closed and barred, so I wasn't able to get into them. I'm thinking the bag you found belonged to a prospector who was taking samples and must not have found what they thought they were looking for. There are active claims in that area, so maybe it was a current or former claim owner. Did you see any claim markers around the adit?

    • @WorldofRockhounds
      @WorldofRockhounds  Год назад +1

      You might be able to find that cave if you look hard enough. The trail isn't too far off from the road. The campsite was actually pretty trashed and I feel like it more related to drug activity or something like it. Trash was just everywhere and thrown over the side. It was a very sad sight to see. I didn't notice any claim markers that day.

    Well, hopefully someone just abandoned all that garbage instead of something bad happening to them. “Sweet Home” definitely has an ominous ring to it. 🤣

      From the trash and the other things that I didn't film - it was a neglected camp site for sure :(

    I really have enjoyed yellow bottom when I was a younger teenager my dad thought ne how to gold pan here. I've been back to hound a few times. My lady and I plan on taking a break away from the craziness of Portland

      It's such a beautiful area. Even if there is no rocks to be brought home - it's nice to get up there just to get away from town.

  • @RagnarRocks

    Awesome you made it up to the top man! Sweet quartz pockets and druzy! Was there anything at all good in that bag? What kind of gold pan did you find?

    • @WorldofRockhounds
      @WorldofRockhounds  2 года назад +1

      I haven't fully checked out the contents just yet. But the godd pan must be a slightly newer version of the ones I have. I'll send you some photos after a while!

      I will admit that my current one is more beautiful than my last. It was just more sentimental above anything. I think some things are just never meant to be found once lost but that is okay. We just have to move on and remember things as they were :)

    That would make me very nervous knowing the dam is letting water out.

    • @WorldofRockhounds
      @WorldofRockhounds  2 года назад +1

      I though the upper reservoir was full and I don't know much about the damn itself so I can only speculate that they were letting water out to help generate electricity or keep the upper reservoir as a specific level at this time?
      They do have a big bold sign on the road where it points out that the water may rise at any time. Pays to observe your surroundings lol

      I get more worried on the drive up near the rock walls...or other drivers.
      Actually helped pull a car out of a ditch that not long before that I had let pass me because they were following a bit close.

    What a beautiful place. Rocks, no rocks, it's always good to get out. Just one tiny tiny little question..
    Did you have a way to get help? I'm just saying. We want to see your smiling face for a long time to come. Keep being happy, safe and stay healthy. 😷⚒

      That's an excellent question and regrettably my answer is I did not. Only Amy knew generally where I was going.
      I just made sure to take my time and one slow step at a time.
      I do plan on investing in some extra special gear for such an instance.

    That’s pretty cool that you found that bag of rocks and cleaned it up. Last time I was out at Haunted Ridge I found a rock hammer (in good shape 👍🏼) and someone’s bucket 🪣 only one of the rocks in it was up to my standards 😂 That was an awesome adventure Kyle! I especially enjoyed seeing the mine and the quartz dike. You’ll maybe have to come back with some more heavy duty tools sometime.

    • @WorldofRockhounds

      It's a shame people can't pack it back out. It makes the rest of us look bad, sadly.
      BUT flip side of that coin, there are those of us that will often help where we can and pick up after others.
      I should look into a portable diamond saw like what Dan Hurd had in one of this videos. That was super clever.

      Whomever comes forward to claim that bag and can show evidence of them cleaning up that trash that they thrown over the side of the hill as well as the other garbage that was there is more than welcome to get their bag and it's contents back. It's sitting on my back patio untouched and still filled.
      I'll wait.

    I would think they will be back to get it! Weird they left a bag full of rocks out there. 🤔 leaving the trash is super uncool! However I appreciate you looking after nature! If everyone did it our environment would be so much better!!!

    Whew! Nice! Theres one fact about Oregon, it has a LOT of verticle or near verticle area. I believe if you could iron Oregon out it would cover half the US. Im 70 years old, I was born and raised in southern Oregon and lve hiked, climbed and crawled over most of the western half of the state. Its steep! Love your videos.

    Beautiful scenery. I completely understand why you would go back to that area more than once. With the seasons changing, I scramble to get as much hiking and hounding in before the snow. I’m sure I’ll come back to this 🎥 when my ground is covered in snow and frozen.
    Thanks for the 🎥
