- A special salute to five of the great stars who earned the Blackglama Legends award--Ethel Merman, Ann Miller, Myrna Loy, Lillian Gish, and Renata Scotto, along with advertising executive of the campaign, Peter Rogers. As a bonus, at 58:17, you'll find a brief commercial for the Ginger Rogers-Sid Caesar revival of "Anything Goes".
Ann Miller , how natural a conversationalist ....beautiful.
*Negative Vote, here, CUZ of ZERO YEAR given for this!!!!*
@@Justin.Martyr the clues are in the commercials. For example the news break - Iran hostages. What year was that? I looked it up and the date is right there! 🙂

Gotta hand it to Merv. He got those ladies to relax and shine with their glittering talent.
Such a damn shame talent like this doesn't seem to exist today.
To me, there is nothing more glamorous than Ann Miller performing on the Mike Douglas show, and then having to leave early to star in a Broadway show. Glamour AND mystique
Merv Griffin
THESE WOMEN ARE AMONG THE GREATEST STARS THAT EVER WERE - thank you for posting this , I have really enjoyed it ! BRAVO EVERYONE !
Anne Miller was a huge huge star in the UK across the board - over and above her talent she had a quality that appealed to the troops and the working classes who wanted to have fun and dance and Anne always looked like she was having fun no matter how hard she was working - she was the kind of girl guys thought they could date and girls thought they could be and feel comfortable
Such a lovely, late in life performance from Ethel. Wasn't expecting that. She really was a great singing actress.
l was totally loving the beautiful blue gown, a Halston!!!! ☺😊
Great show. I love all those old girls. Great entertainers. I think they've all passed now. At least we have a record of their talent. Thanks.
Oh thank you... What an enjoyable program to watch. This is wonderful ❤
Thank u so much for posting this great video! Ann Miller is such a beauty, she’s adorable and a ray of sunshine! You can just see what a beautiful glamorous and down to earth lady she was!
What a treat! Entertaining as ever, Merv Griffin, in his prime. I think his prime just kept going, through 21 years of his show. Thanks for posting!
Lillian Gish, " they photographed me any which way 'cept upside down " so funny ....
What a find! Thank you for posting this, Alan. Nice bonus with the commercial for Anything Goes starring Ginger Rogers and Sid Caesar.
Ann Miller what a class act .
Thank you for posting this! Glad Merv didn't tape over this one.
I love this line-up
All this - AND Ginger Rogers in a commercial for "Anything Goes"! Heaven - I'm in heaven...!
Great, great episode! Love your channel. Just had to add: thank you for keeping the commercials in! So much fun, and part of the context. Cheers!
WHEN TV WAS GREAT!!
love Renata's rendition of Vissi d'arte.. and Annie's dress!
Brava, Scotto!
Annie was an absolutely lovely human being in person. Other Blackgama gals included Joan Rivers and Elizabeth Taylor.
Based on the Advertising at the end, seems like this Show, was in 1980. It speaks about Reagan and Carter debates.
Terrific.
Merv was a terrific pianist.
finally an upload of yours that i wanna watch
*My 5-Favs: Ann MiLLer, MaryAnn, Rita HayWorth, Lynda Carter, Barbara Eden*
Loved Merv's shoutout to Richard Chamberlain
Both were Gay
He was my favorite. Him and Dick Cavett.
When woman looked like woman. How I wished I had grown up in the golden era!
wow!
Renata is magnificent
Finally someone who knew Joan that says Christina book was a lie. Myrna had nothing to gain for saying that other than standing up for her best friend.
Yes! Myrna Loy was one of the few who stood by her friend through all of that.
Check out ,”Joan Crawford:the Hollywood greats” documentary on RUclips. It is a pretty revealing insight from people who saw first hand the strict disciplinary side of miss Crawford towards her children. She certainly was an iconic Movie Star but like any human being she also had her flaws.
Yes but others were there and saw and heard - and said the opposite. I don’t blame some sweet friend like Myrna who says something is a lie as she did not see it.
Public versus private observations. Myrna only knew her in the public eye. She did not live in their home where the abuse took place but other did see it.
@@ibuhleevechristina1583 much evidence to demonstrate Christina lied and lied
Renata is no Maria Callas but she's ok, but ofcourse the Great Ethel Merman what a thrill.
I always found a flinty quality to Callas, like Galvani. Not to everybody's taste. (Although I like it.) Scotto was sweeter to my ear. (Though she seems a bit shrill at the high notes.) Both different and wonderful singers.
Anne Miller never lost that spark a glamour girl to the end ,love her for that Merman is a bit ,hell a lot like a truck driver in heels but fab in her own way ,i always love Craig Russell,s interpretation of her ,he was a bit more feminium than the real thing though
I just noticed as she walked out on stage. She walks like a butch guy in his first pair of heels. I love it. And I love her.
I really miss nice talk shows ! BRING BACK ROSIE !
Wholly shit
although IT IS WRONG TO WEAR ANY FUR ! - THIS WAS THE BEST ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN IN HISTORY !
Why?
@@ibuhleevechristina1583 ,
GO VEGAN !
@@XX-gy7ue you still need meat protein.
@@ibuhleevechristina1583, NONSENSE ! YOU'LL LIVE LONGER , LOOK BETTER , AND FEEL MUCH BETTER WITHOUT IT !
How is it wrong to wear fur, that’s just your opinion…
It's actually Blackglama.
Ann miller should tap dance
The glory days of mink.
I think you mean Blackglama.
Myrna Loy is wrong here about Joan Crawford in the Mommie Dearest book by Christina Crawford. The book details their respective lives at HOME, away from the public eye and something that Ms. Loy was not privy too. A child abuser almost never abuses you in public. Ms.Loy was just flat out wrong about that. Oh, well.
Annie's Wig!!!!! 😅
Why did Ethel Merman dress like a cook from an all-night truck stop?
Me
He was a terrible flirt!
What a cornball Merv was.
