He should change his name to "Buentempo" cause everything in this performance is gorgeous. The first sonata is something i haven´t ever seen before in a Scriabin recording.
Quelle musique, auel pianisme, quelle perfection de virtuosité, quel lyrisme, quelle force dramatique, quelle progrès artistique en dix sonates! Miracle apres miracle!
Che grande pianista! Sembra possa fare qualsiasi cosa con le sue dita sia a livello tecnico che a livello timbrico e interpretativo: ed è la prima volta che riesco a percepire chiaramente la "forma sonata" in Scriabin.
Maestro Vincenzo Maltempo performs Scriabin's Ten Piano Sonatas with such precision and exactitude, totally attentive to the score throughout; but with creative latitude interpretively, especially with attention to agogics, rubati, fluidity and dynamic control that what emerges has become one of my favorite recordings. I have played through all ten sonatas at different times of my life, so I certainly appreciate the effort, hard work and sheer sacrifice it requires to play these as well as Maestro Maltempo. It is an absolute bravura performance to be sure!
Thanks for letting me hear the 10 Scriabin piano sonatas. I have heard about them but never heard them. Thanks to Mr. Maltempo for an outstanding rendering of these complex works. The first two sonatas are strongly influenced by Chopin. The 4th reaches for a different atmosphere, perhaps harsher, technically very difficult. The prestissimo volando is really a tour de force. The later sonatas are very personal, varied, introspective, more advanced in the compositional technique but still within the customary harmonies. I understand that Scriabin moved towards atonal or dodecaphonic techniques but I do not see much of Schönberg in these sonatas. They may be contradictory, perhaps arbitrary, but always nice to hear. Splendid music.
Schoenberg wasn't the first to compose atonal music, he was just famous for formalizing it with 12-tone serialism. Scriabin's late works are, indeed, largely atonal, and he developed his atonal harmonic language independent of (and mostly just before) those of the 2nd Viennese School. Scriabin--similar to Messiaen and Schnittke--wasn't strict about the "rules" of atonal composition, preferring to compose whatever he felt fitting for the piece, which could include extended passage of tonality if he desired. I think it gives his music much more richness than the adherents of 12-tone serialism.
Wahrlich genialer Pianist!
man, I've just been listening to the first 7 minutes of this vid and wow, am I impressed with the first sonata. Hope the other 9 are just as phenomenal, but so far it's been really exceptional playing. Such amazing tone.
They are indeed! According to the difficulty of some of his works, he must have been one of the best pianists ever, perhaps on a par with Liszt or even better. By the way, there are piano rolls recorded directly from his playing. Of course they lack much of the dynamics of real modern recordings but you can imagine how good he was. Search for Scriabin plays Scriabin Etude Op. 8 No. 12.
Early Scriabin is good but try sonata 6 (best version for me is Richter's one) + sonata 9 = evilish, poisonous, mystical music...his best sonatas in my opinion.
I found this video very good, and the music and playing was brilliant. HOWEVER, I was a bit upset with the 5th sonata because it felt off. Richter's is better, as well as Ashkenazy's. However I have no problem and enjoyed every other piece to the fullest.

Thank you...cheered my day.

No, that was Bontempo.
Scriabin traveled time for the photo. Nicely played!

How have you been?
Time has passed this year. I hope you take care of the cold weather and health based on Korea. ^O^

Look up "120th Anniversary Scriabin" Album, all of his solo works which are absolute masterpieces!
Orgoglio italico.🇮🇹
Jared Leto is such a great piano player. Is there no end to his talents?
I don't know much about Scriabin except that my former piano teacher told me his pieces are quite hard to play...

The 3rd! The 3rd !
Brilliant
The first one is miles better than Ashkenazy’s...
emotional and fashionable

This piece, and Scuiabin in general, requires multiple microphones that are tuned to specific layers.
😍
👌
I love, mutch
I hear a touch of Tchaikovsky in that first mvt.
David Garrett plays piano?

Maltempo ? The worst surname for a musician....🤣🤣🤣🤣
In Italian "Maltempo" translation would be "Badweather": nothing to do with the musical "tempo". LOL
In Scriabin’s tempestuous piano sonatas, “bad weather” is sometimes actually a plus.😉
Now it would be interesting to listen to his renditions of Samuil Feinberg's piano sonatas No.1 - 12.
Ain't worth it
Bravo 🎉❤
