    trust me. doing uworld in timed mode is complete opposite of its purpose. this is the most annoying thing people keep talking about. UWORLD is a LEARNING TOOL. you do questions and learn from the questions. I'm not saying you spent 2 hrs to finish one block. Spend time with the questions, learn how to read, learn how to pick up key words. TIMED MODE is for simulation before the real deal. You have nbme, free 120, 2 uworld tests. You dont need extra timed mode. Hope to save some souls out there.

      @@theb5400 sketchy for pharm and micro. pathoma. the anking anki deck. youtube videos for ethics and stats. And 3-4 full-length tests. ANKI is built upon how memory works, please do as many cards as you can. wish you luck mate

    I was in the last class to get an actual score back, and you probably could get away with just 1 month of dedication to pass, 1 content review source, and 1 question bank, anything else is wasting your money. A close friend of mine got a 196 with 0 time studying. The bar is so low to pass, I wouldn't even stress over it. How to be competitive? high step 2 score, research in chosen field, great LOR, and a phenomenal audition somewhere, that is it nothing else to it.

    I spent too much time looking for videos about USMLE step 1 and 2CK , but i could not
    This video is something else , it is the best video i have ever seen!!!
    I found answers to most of the questions in my mind
    the 22 min passed like 2 min
    I want to congratulate and thank u for this
    One more question: What do u think is the good score for Step 2CK now ,after step 1 became pass/fail??
    and is long time since graduation affects the matching chance even if i has been practicing medicine as a resident since then??

      It varies based on what speciality and what program. Generally> 250 is considered good.
      Yes it does but if you were doing medicine related stuff, it is not negative, but again varies based on the program

    Thanks for the video! Is P/F step 1 in general a disadvantage for competitive surgical specialties for IMGs, or it doesn’t matter?

      Disadvantage for IMGs I’m afraid bc you’ll need to excel in other aspects of the application to distinguish yourself

    What are the odds now for an IMG to match into surgery program after it's become pass/fail?

      Bro get good step 2 scores, US clinical experience(electives) and try publishing research papers or atleast partner in them and in a well known indexed journal.
      Builf ur CV!
      Also most IMGs get internal medicine.

      @@Nico.Robin7 yes it is harder for imgs generally to get into any speciality. However, if you are good you will make it anywhere.
      Do clinical research in ur dream specialty somehow use contacts and visit the us for good clinical electives atleast 3 times!

    The trend nowadays is now forming better doctor researchers, not clinicians. Some of the best doctors I know from different countries don't do a lot of research because they're busy with actual patients. Also explains why IMGs are far far rarer in competitive specialties.

    Great video. I have a question. No doubt that uw explanations are great but there are about 3600 qs and so as I move on, I just keep forgetting the previous stuff no matter how well I understand it while doing it. Any solution for that?

    Hi Dr. Asaad, I have a quick question:
    Do you recommend including Sketchy Micro in the prep for the step 1 pass/fail exam? Although its not in your video, I feel like microbiology is a chapter that is hard to retain when reviewing the information as it is presented in first aid (lots of charts, few logical connections between pieces of information etc.) I am currently doing rotations, plan to take the exam in 6 months with around 3h of studying monday through saturday and just finished pathoma.

    Hello Dr malke asaad as usual great content...I have 2 questions if you can clarify..I took step 1 before pass/fail and am awaiting my score..I plan to take step 2 ck in 2022 and apply for match in 2023..
    1) will my usmle transcript contain step 1 score or just pass/fail?
    2) if I get a good step 1 score will I have any leverage over others who took exam after it became pass/fail in my residency application.. In other words will my score be regarded or ignored completely?? Thanks in advance

      1. You will get a score on your transcript as you took the exam before Jan 25th 2022.
      2. Yes, you are at an advantage compared to applicants with p/f IF you have a very good score.
