1. Use timed mode to do blocks and study explanations later 2. Study system wise at first 3. Study the explanations well 4. Look at the wrong choices too and understand why it is wrong 5. Take notes of U world: don’t write, add to notebook or create flash cards, flag questions
Thanks Dr. Malke Asaad for your good advices. Could you please give me some advice from where should I start preparations?? I am a 4th year medical student and i have about 10 months for preparation.
great vid ty! In the process of studying for boards right now, but I think by your same logic for doing timed mode, I feel like doing it randomly and NOT by system for board prep is more effective. When you're first learning the concepts in your pre-clinical courses, definitely do them system-specific. But when you're doing questions from a pool of systems that you've already learned in Year 1 and 2, I think doing it mixed/random is more difficult but wayyyy better practice for boards! Just my opinion :)
There is the timed tutor mode, in which you get to practice finishing the block within 1 hour, and at the same time while you read the explanation for every question the timer will be paused!
Amazing videos! Really helps clarify how to best organize dedicated! While going through UWorld for Step 2, is it better to split up by systems AND by shelf subjects? Meaning should I do all of Allergy and Immunology for Peds/OBGYN/ IM etc in the same block or just do Allergy and immunology for IM then do Allergy and immunology for Peds etc? Thank you!
Hi , thank you brother !!! Great video ... gift for you ي مال الشام والله ي( مالك ) طال المطال ي اسد ... Agree on everything you said ... enjoyed every minute of your video ...
Great video, I have 5 months of time & also university exams in December- January. Please suggest me how to study? Please let me know. I’m worried by looking at my scores in Uworld tests.
I need recomendation on wish mode should I study Uworld questions and how much hours per day, taking in to account this: I have only 6 month to present the Steps 1 and Im and old graduated (6 years ago), I really dont remember much phisiologic and biochemestry concepts.
Thank u a lot dr. Malke Assad! This video helped me a lot and re-arranged my thoughts again about online uworld as I was thinking to start soon by using offline mode. all of ur videos contain the whole questions which every student can has in his mind. I appreciated.
Is it a good idea to learn a certain topic then go and do the relevant questions about it in order to inhance recalling ( for example somebody stuyd glycogen storage disorder then you go and do relevant questions about it)? What about 2 rounds would it be good to do first round tutor mood them do it random timed on the second round ?
Hello Doc I want to thank you for your videos ... I have a question please.. I'm from Syria, and I have just finished my med school and start my residency in my country. But I want to prepare for usmle, and I I start residency I will not be able to have enough time for preparing , what should I do ? Is it better to stop my residency and have a gap year ? Another question please .... does the speciality out of America affect the residency later ?
Thank you for the amazing video. My one question would be about micro or biochem. I’m almost done with med school therefore these two subjects are super hard for me to study at the moment. As it hasbbeen about 3 years since I passed my micro exams. Would you recommend for me to go thru all the micro and biochem q’s after reading the related chapters on first aid? Or is it wiser to continue with the systems and go back to these subjects whenever I find the time (kind of like spaced repetitions)
Either way works, whatever you feel works better for you. I prefer to go through UW, then after done, I do FA. If you have difficulty understanding the explanations, use video resources.
Thank you for your experience. I want to ask you, you said system based study in Uworld, how do I do it? For example I choose all subjects and one system. I study one blok. After that will I study at same system or change system for each block?
I did basics sciences 15 years ago and have extremely weak background but I’m studying for step 1 currently. I’ve decided to go straight to uworld and first aid without reviewing any material. Is this ok?
Hey doc I took free 120 got 64% and also nbme30 it’s 65% should I go for exam in this week? actually I’m scores are stuck it’s not moving up any suggestions..
Hello Dr.Asaad, thank you on this great video. I want to know what is the importance of a good base of knowledge before starting UWorld is it to try to solve the questions or to be able to understand the explanation ??
If you ask yourself why are you trying to do the questions. It should be about testing yourself. But it's like trying to go somewhere and only being told part of the directions. Yes you might be able to figure out the rest.... but you dont have the full picture.
Hello Dr may I ask as an IMG if I take step 1 & step 2 during medical school then mccqe and do residency in Canada can I work in America as a Dr since I’m board certified? Internal medicine for eg. Thanks 🙏
It takes me a long time to review 1 block and then I'm not able to complete the rest of my tasks for that day. Any advice on what can I do differently?
Hi Malke, I am in my dedicated right now and have my exam in 10 days. I have taken 3 assessments getting 198 2 weeks ago at start of dedicated then low pass range on the next two during each subsequent week. Should I just take my exam since I’ve passed every practice I’ve taken?
I do time mood doctor but I find it difficult reviewing 80 questions per day sir.... before finishing 40 questions and reviewing it the whole day has gone and am not happy about that sir, I want to be solving at least 100 questions per day, please how can i go about it sir, i have written step 1 twice but didn't pass thanks 🙏
You don't have to solve 80 questions a day. Start with 40 and with time, that number will increase. What matters is quality of studying. But also make sure you are not spending soo much time on same question without much extra learning.
What about other resources (sketchy, boards and beyond etc) would you recommend adding them to the studying schedule or purely focus on uworld & practice nbme forms as a studying resource for the exam?
There are endless resources to study for STEP 1. You have to pick the few that can give you the ability to understand and pass the exam with the least amount of time, time is limited.
Hi Malke Asaad, thank you for this video. What would you suggest we do in the last 4 weeks countdown to step 1? I'm in my dedicated study period with a month left to test day. Does it help to do/review all NBMEs with their explanations, or review all Uworld Questions once more? Does one help more than the other on the real exam? Or perhaps memorize FA-P? Any final suggestions regarding things not to miss out on/where to focus our attention in the last few days? I know it's rather subjective, but according to you? =) Any tips would be super helpful! As always, thank you for your insight! Have a blessed day ahead =)
Hi Malke, I wanted to know when you mentioned using uworld as a study tool, how long before should we buy it. If I plan on giving it a year from now, should I buy 2 years subscription instead of 1? Considering i am still in my med school and don't want uworld to expire before I am done with it.
Hi sir, Are volunteer work, research, publications mandatory in CV during match? Because I didn’t participate in these. I’m currently in my third year of medical school.so please help me in this.

That defeats the purpose of the timed mode in which you solve 40 questions in one hour. I prefer full timed mode.
That was very helpful.

After uworld expires what happens to our flashcard and uworld notes?is there any way to export it?
Take picture with mobile of these flashcards so that once it expires these will be saved
Doctor … where are you from ?
Thank you for your experience. I want to ask you, you said system based study in Uworld, how do I do it? For example I choose all subjects and one system. I study one blok. After that will I study at same system or change system for each block?
Keep the same system until you finish the questions from that system then move on to the next system
@@MalkeAsaad Thank you
if im finish medical school for 12 years, would it be possible for the people from developing country like me to achieve surgery mathching?, thanks
Shukran Asad,
What do you think is doing uw well is enough to pass usmle for someone with weak basics?
It depends if you are able to understand the concepts
I did basics sciences 15 years ago and have extremely weak background but I’m studying for step 1 currently. I’ve decided to go straight to uworld and first aid without reviewing any material. Is this ok?
That’s what I’m doing now. Graduated 18 years ago . How did it work for you? Did u pass with this strategy? Please reply
love it !! i agree with u
Where we can get u world questions. ? Plz give link
Are they worth it?

Hello Dr.Asaad, thank you on this great video.
I want to know what is the importance of a good base of knowledge before starting UWorld is it to try to solve the questions or to be able to understand the explanation ??
Only to understand especially with the Pass/Fail system
If you ask yourself why are you trying to do the questions. It should be about testing yourself. But it's like trying to go somewhere and only being told part of the directions. Yes you might be able to figure out the rest.... but you dont have the full picture.

It might be a risk. Try to get at least 20-30 points over passing score to increase your chances of passing
@@MalkeAsaad thanks so much for your response! I’ll push it back a few weeks just to be safe.
