amazing job, well done. Im going to attempt to do this job on my avensis in a couple of months. My question is, do you need to remove the rear mount bracket to get the transmission out, or can you try and remove it without taking the bracket off, also do you maybe have a parts number on that clutch?
Removing the rear mount bracket makes it alot easier to drop the transmission due to limited space or else it won't clear the front subframe and you'll keep fighting trying to drop the transmission. It's just held in by couple of bolts which takes 2-3 minutes to remove. Unfortunately I dont have a part number with me misplaced the invoice somewhere. Just gave my car reg number to the parts shop and they gave me the new clutch kit part. I used aftermarket brand Exedy after reading some good reviews. If you want to stick to OE brand quality use Aisin or LUK. Hope this info helps and good luck 👍🏻.
@EclestIXX I am really surprised it needed a new clutch with just 80000. I have the same car a diesel one and has 108000 miles on it now. Clutch still seems good. I know someone who has the same diesel avensis with 250000 miles with the same clutch. Hence I bought this car. I am really surprised. Anyway it a car and they need parts. Mine has a bad clutch compressor pulley. I got it bypassed last week and the car running good however ac won't work now until new pulley is fit on compressor. Yes clutch change can be an expensive job and it normally is. My diesel avensis has injectors and I have been told if they go the dealer charges 2000 pounds to put new ones in. A good reputable garage would charge about 1400 pounds. So I don't know what to say lol. My friend who has the same car with 250000 miles still hasn't replaced them.😃😃
@@mumtazzafar5696 Its a very reliable and good car in my opinion. I never had any issues with this car. This is the only major repair I've done on it apart from general maintenance. But I think the clutch got worn out quickly due to a bad concentric slave cylinder and possibly failed hydraulics because of old clutch fluids (my fault because I haven't changed the brake/clutch fluid for a very long time) I think 🤔 . Before the clutch went bad there was lack of pedal pressure for a while but car was still driveable. The problem with this new design where the slave cylinder is in the bell housing is that its not something that can be easily replaced like the old Toyota designs. I replaced the master cylinder as well off camera and made sure to flush new fluids into the clutch and brake hydraulic system. As long as you keep up with maintenance this car will run forever.
@EclestIXX well I love my diesel avensis to be honest. It's beautiful for motorway drive. I always tend to change engine oil every 5 or 6 thousands miles with filters. In year and half ive only replaced a rear caliper and brake pads. However two weeks ago the ac compressor clutch pulley has packed in. The mechanic has bypassed the compressor with a shorter belt. The car is running fine but the ac wont work. I will be putting the new clutch pulley myself and it costs about 80 pounds . I'll probably tackle this job in summer now. Thnx for the reply and lovely video
Massive amount of work, to bad the flywheel on my avensis looks like is going out. Not looking forward for this job 😂 thanks for the video.
It is a big job, but doable. Good luck 👍🏻
Wow, amazing. Thanks for sharing skills & knowledge
You're welcome, and thanks
Yep, you’ve convinced me….theres no way I’m attempting that myself!!!
Yep, DIY'ers are not the faint hearted types. However having a transmission jack can make it alot easier.

And where did you get the gear oil filling pipe from which you used to top up the clutch oil in the end
Bought it from ebay "HAND TRANSFER SIPHON SYPHON & AIR PUMP FUEL OIL WATER DIESEL FLUID EXTRACTOR KIT"
What was the mileage on the vehicle when you replaced the clutch. I have 2012 diesel avensis. How much the garage wanted for the job
Close to 80k mileage. One garage refused to do it and another asked for £600 (mobile mech)
